Thanks for link :) I love dos game music :D all old music i use this for avernum bgm now when play :) coz i love Scroll 1 HD xD Best Strategy game on win 98 :D
To this day, no matter which game I'm playing, whenever I'm about to exit and it asks me for confirmation, I still imagine that voice from Lords of the Realm 2 going "Exit the game, my lord?"
I work in a professional management with 5 people under my team. There are times when stress comes through and I tell my team to give me 30 minutes. I shut the door, open up lords of the realm 2 and play away. My boss knows this and does not disapprove. Ive been playing this game since 1998 and it still is just pure nostalgia. Great upload!
Scroll 1 and 3. The fresh peace of winter planting followed by the greatness of summer harvest! I can still hear my father from the kitchen when I was 17 yelling out "Your people are starving my lord!" every time I changed from cows to grain. Im 38 now and still playing it!
Scroll 1 brings me back to the first time my dad actually walked past while I was "wasting time" playing on the computer and stopped to comment "that music is beautiful, is this a game?", it was the first time he gave my gaming a positive reaction and it made me feel like I was doing something worth appreciating for what it was. I'll do the same to my son when he is old enough to play. Thanks for the childhood memories Sierra.
I was too young to play this game but I remember pulling a chair next to my dad and watching him play for hours. This music brings back memories that had been lost. So happy to hear this ost!!!
posting in the "playing LotRII with my dad" crew thread. this was the only game that ran decent on his Windows 95 off-white shelled office computer (with a turbo button and a keyhole on the front, as was the style at the time) and i spent a lot of time watching him play. my favourite unit has and always will be the Pikeman.
Joining the "watched dad play" crew here. I would go home to my moms (divorced parents) and play with Legos and pretend to be the units battling each other ARCHERS HO!
I cannot express in words the absolute love I have for this soundtrack, and game. I still play it now and then, and constantly listen to this OST over the years again and again. Lords of the Realm 2 FOREVER!!!
Had so much fun playing this game when I was like 13-14 years of age, back in 1996 through 1997. Massive pride I felt when, against many many odds, I vanquished all enemies on the Scotland map. For me those were the "lands" I felt the historical relevance of carrying out my gaming skills had to be weighted. And that awesome music indeed. Scroll 2 HD especially never grew tired in my ears... watching the pockets of wheat flourish, cows grazing, my armies marching in and out, the threats of enemies and witty remarks sent back when sending tribute over to, say, the Noblemen and Countess... Just loved rolling the pots of boiling tar /oil down my castle walls too. And setting off companies of crossbowmen to decimate infantry and cavalry :)
Keith Zizza did an amazing job composing all of these. I'm amazed how he came up with this. Scroll 1 and main setup menu. Those tracks literally take me back to my early teens. I remember buying the collectors edition back in 1998 at Costco. It had Lords 1,2 and siege pack. Still have the box set to this day!
Actually these high quality versions was in a big ".WAV" file on the original game CD. I think it was called "pumkin.wav". The high quality version of the music was not used in-game, but if you explored the cd you would find a very big file and this is it. It's just a pity "Battle 4 theme" was not included in this WAV, and therefore neither in this RUclips upload.
Such a great game. I remember as a kid I was pretty bad at it, so I would only play the map with 4 regions, against the Knight. I'd send him insults and smash his armies of peasants with elite mounted knights. The Knights were such a power trip in this game, lol. Good ol' days.
The gameplay was simple but pretty good... Famine and plague were indeed what really scared peasants. Getting the head of the local knight was very dangerous but possible, much better than facing a terrible death by starvation...
I was listening to Jeremy Soule's "From Past to Present" and it reminded me so much of (what now I see is) Scroll 1 HD I had to look for it. Great memories. 1996, my first PC.
@@Teliorus they still love the game although my daughter is into this game more than her brother. There are rumors btw of lords of the realm 4 in the making. But as a indie self start and wont be named Lords of the realm 4.
I often wonder if this game was the inspiration for the Total War games. It has a turn based campaign map and then a RTS mode for fighting the battles. Kinda makes sense.
I use the gog version on Windows 10 but there's some kind of glitch that causes it to use 100% of the CPU. So I set my "Power Saver" mode settings to max the CPU at 5% of it's full speed and I switch to Power Saver mode before I start playing. It happened on Windows 7 too and the glitch followed after the upgrade.
It's hard to catch because as soon as you minimize LOTR, the CPU usage goes back to normal. I was able to tell because as soon as I started up the game, my laptop fans would spin up and the area around my CPU would get hot. Limiting the CPU speed in the power settings fixed it.
For the few first time I played the game, I never knew I had a quary on my field so it was always off. Took me over 2weeks to realise It was an actual unit. "Quarry On !" "Quarry off..."

this intonation of speaker... :)
I'm not alone then, brother.
I know, I love how his tone of voice is almost incredulous. Like "Are you serious, sire?"
Long Live Lords of The Realm 2! One of the greatest Real Time Realm Strategy Games!
There are more of us? 😱 me and my brothers always say it. Thought it was an obscure reference. Made my day 😁
This game is sentimental to me. I used to watch my grandfather play it all the time.
"Exit the game my lord?" NEVER!
This game's music soundtrack is Sierra's masterpiece. Well at least in my opinion. "Giggle!" ❤
There is no opinion here, that is a fact.
Scroll 1 HD always comes back in my head when I least expect it.
