same basic setup in my Model S however I use the Oyster cooler in the front works well and doesn't need power. Spring shaped window shades also don't quite ever fit right. It's just cheap chinese quality where they advertise for specific models but obviously have never actually sized or tested them in those models. Would be great if someone really made a complete camping setup with exact fits for all Tesla models including cooler, mattress, shades etc. Dry and cooking gear I store in bins that fit perfectly under the matress in the foot wells on both sides. Frunk has a second soft Tesla fit cooler that is for not cold but just keeping things relatively temperature controlled like cereals, coffee, oils, etc. Also keep my small gas stove in the Frunk and cook on top of the front cooler with the hood open.
Thanks for the video. I am starting to see that the Y would be a challenging fit for me and (2) dogs to go camping in....the R1S would be better, though quite a bit more expensive. As for your mattress, you probably need to start at the opposite end of the valves and really take your time to force the air out as you roll it up. I have a Thermarest which has similar construction and people also complain about not being able to get it back in the bag, but it's possible with proper technique
Thanks for watching! I agree that two dogs on a Model Y sounds like a tight fit (depending on the size of the dogs) 😅 if one is looking in tje R1S price range it would make sense to look at the Mercedes EQV or VW Buzz camper conversions (Tonke, for instance) or wait for the new electric Sprinters to get the camper treatment. Yeah, with some practice and patience the mattress would be easier to deal with but the size stays the same while convenience suffers. I'm considering the Exped variant or something in that realm that packs down very neatly. Let me know what car you end up going with!
Awesome video, Outdoor EV Adventures. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed the thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the fantastic work! Your insights on the Tesla Model Y camping setup are invaluable. Have you considered any specific brands for quieter coolers that fit better in the cabin space?
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm mostly looking at tailor made coolers for the Y from more or less noname brands. Once I've done the changes I want there will be an updated camping setup video :)
Hey! Yes, I can't believe I forgot to mention this in the video. The back seats don't fold completely flat and have approx 6-7 degrees of tilt. My only solution so far is to park the car on a slight downhill to compensate.
Great, honest review of your setup
Thank you!
Beautiful location to camp! Keep the great videos coming! Subscribed.
The rear seat headrests can come out there’s a few videos on RUclips. I had to do it since they hit my seats when folded.
Oh wow! I've played around with them but just concluded that they can't be removed and never looked into it 😄 thank you, that's really helpful!
@@OutdoorEV everyday Chris has a video on it.
Thank you.
No, thank YOU for watching!

I couldn't agree more, some high quality Tesla specific manufacturer would be great! Thanks for sharing your setup :)
Oooo first person I’ve come across with an oyster! Does it live up to the claims?! I want one so bad but can’t justify the price… yet.
@@midnight121190 it does
@@darylfortney8081 sweet! Glad to hear it 👌
Get the tesmat bro, it fits in the trunk or frunk
How's the comfort?
@OutdoorEV not sure yet. But it's memory foam 3 inches. Tested briefly and it was nice
Might check them out. I mean the Travel Sleeper CAN fit in the frunk and bottom trunk, it's just a hassle to deflate it enough 😄
@OutdoorEV had a bad experience with inflatables so I'm opposed to them
I understand, one incident is enough to warrant some scepticism in that realm 😅

Do you have issues with the slant of the bed?

@@OutdoorEV same I have some levelers from my camper but I haven’t tried them yet lol.
Thx for responding 🙃
@@midnight121190 I would imagine levelers are be a better solution :) Thx for watching!
