  • The Warriors have won 7 of their last 10 games after starting Draymond Green at center, which may have just saved their season.

    This is the best video I have seen documenting the nuts and bolts of how Draymond at the 5 is the absolute key for why the Warriors are winning again. A lot of commentators are talking about how the return of Draymond has been the key, but this video is the best I've seen. Draymond is a very polarizing person because of his super aggressive mouth and flagrant fouling. But Steve Kerr and everyone who plays for and knows the Warriors understand that he makes everyone on the team SO much better, including Steff.

    Are people really blinded by hatred that they can't see how great of a defender Dray is. We see this every year, it's nothing new, the Warriors best 5 man line up has always been when Dray is playing center. This has always been their secret weapon, making those unstoppable 3rd quarter runs. Every time Steve Kerr has the death line up, with Draymond at the 5, opposition team majority of the time don't have an answer for that.

    Been seeing this out of Draymond since 2018, the issue is he plays in a team that has Curry, Durant, Thompson,.. people look at their points and thinks Draymond is in the team that he is lucky that he plays with HOF's. I've always heard the hateful comments, "Mr Single Double", etc. Heard it all. I knew how and I still stand by that Draymond is the second most important Warrior after Curry. Said it in the past five years and I stand by my comment. Its about time in 2024 they start recognizing how much he means to the Warriors.

    Great video, thank you. With few exceptions championships are won with defensive cohesion. The greatest offenses have been stifled by great defenses. Notably the Great Celtic teams with Bill Russel and Company. Capable scoring but staunch defense. Chicago, San Antonio, Houston, Lakers and Warriors won behind hard working defensive schemes.

    Naw, Draymond is closer to 6'7" i think. Yeah he's no doubt an elite defender. The Warriors don't win all those Championships 🏆 without him. If he hadn't been suspended for a game in the 2016 Finals, they would've won the title in that year as well.

    I'm still not fully understanding and would love for someone to break this down for me. How is Draymond so successful while being so short compared to traditional centers? Are bigger players generally out of position more and he isn't? Is it a positioning thing where players driving to the rim can't get enough space to take flight over him?
    What is stopping a bigger player like Anthony Davis or Luka from backing him down repeatedly, or a high-flying guard like Fox or Edwards from attacking over him every time?

    • @MrReymoclif714

      Positioning!

    • @maplenerd22
      @maplenerd22 7 месяцев назад +2

      Draymond is incredibly strong and sturdy. Even players like Anthony Davis have a hard time backing him down. Also, the centers in the league now aren't really post up players like back in the day with Shaq or Olijawon. The centers of today are more face up jump shooting centers so they aren't backing him down repeatedly. Draymond also has a huge wing span (7'1) for his height. His length and speed allows him challenge taller players and close out on the perimeter.
