Decided to replace both the sear and the cocking piece in the hope of a better trigger. Not the result I was hoping for. I am open to good advice on the subject!!
I know this is an old video but would like to share some info. The stages are lessened and more pronounced by the bedding of the fore end as well. This is hard to explain in words but, the stepper the angle of the fore end the less the stages are separated. The shallower the angle the stages are separated more. Hope this helps if you are still having this problem.
You are correct. If the height and angles of the way trigger guard mounts is wrong in any way the first stage is ruined. If the bushing in the main screw is too short and main screw too tight same issue appears. If you are binding the front of the trigger guard into the wood with a warping pressure a perfectly good working trigger stops working right. Thanks for pointing that out.
Great video, You explained the lack of a 1st stage on that 2 stage trigger well (something I imagine took some thinking) I do have a question though: Had I gotten that fare in, I would have replaced the sear spring & the firing pin spring. Just because they were that old and had that much use on them. Is there a reason you did not replace them while you had them out?
@@hmak7558 Well if that's the biggest mistake you made that day. . . . it was a good day 😉 Your video really does help me, My Son and I have two Enfields we have shot for years. . but always in nice weather, we took them out on a vary cold day and one wouldn't strike the primer hard enough to make it go bag. I have never had the bolts apart (as they have up until now worked flawlessly) and I'm guessing that one has 50 years of gunk inside that stiffened up in the cold. . . . Now I know just how to get in there and find out . . .thanks to your video 👍
The trigger and sear need a bit of fitting by somebody that knows what he is doing. Less likely that something is wrong with the cocking piece but it is possible. This is a slow and tedious operation.

It did not strike me as being necessary at the time - But you are right !! should perhaps have done so.

Thanks for your input and you are probably right. But I actually polished the cocking piece with some 1200 wet and dry and it helped a lot.
