Visiting SHERMAN LIBRARY & GARDENS at Corona del Mar, California. PART 1 VIDEO

Along Pacific Coast Highway in Corona del Mar, you will find The Sherman Library and Gardens, a tranquil stop after some traffic on a busy summer morning. It was overcast so I didn't mind missing my suntan lotion and it definitely felt cooler amongst the greenery!
This botanical garden and research library is named after Moses H. Sherman who headed west from Vermont in 1874, later relocating to Los Angeles in 1890. His personal assistant for almost 20 years was Arnold D. Haskell. Haskell founded the gardens and research library in 1966 and named it after Sherman whom he considered his mentor. Both were businessmen with a passion for education. Moses Sherman was a Southern Californian real estate developer (Sherman Oaks is named after him.) The center dates from the 1950's when Haskell moved from Los Angeles to Corona del Mar and over time, acquired property in the area including the current location which takes up 2.2 acre block.
The center includes a central garden, formal garden, tropical conservatory, specimen shady garden, tea garden, sun garden, garden shop, historical research library, succulent garden, and the cafe/restaurant. During my visit, I missed passing the formal garden and sun garden. The library was also closed but they have collections about the history of the Pacific Southwest. The restaurant was also holding an event at the time. I think I would go back and dine here then walk around again next time!
