I’m sad that Jay Park kind of had to “lie” and not tell the audience the real reason he can’t promote
JYP blacklisted him, he explained that if major shows such as MNET or KBS Music Show gave him a platform to perform then JYP would pull out all of his acts (GOT7, TWICE, STRAY KIDZ, 2PM) from the show making their stock and show plummet in ratings. So obviously if put it that permission, you would have to drop Jay Park so that all the idol groups can perform and rack in money and viewership. Living in Korea is much different than the US. Korea is literally a business, JYP, SM, YG and some other companies like CYC and Samsung run everything. They raise each others stocks with partnerships but, can blacklist idols and people who get in their way. Jessica Jung isn't even allowed to be in the same room as SNSD anymore. Yu Huiyeol's Sketchbook is kind of one of the only exceptions because Yu Huiyeol is a legend and basically runs his OWN network. (kinda like Oprah). Him and Jay are really good friends so Jay and AOMG come on often. Another Platform like this is SNL Korea, which is basically the same platform as the US one, allowing them to put whoever they want on the show.
Humble Kpopper Yeah they are number 1 to some audiences. here in Korea, lots of people listen to hip hop and everyone knows Jay Park and AOMG, they just don’t perform like idol groups. Their songs chart pretty high sometimes. Loco X Hwasa is killing rn. You know even tho they don’t perform, their songs get played on the radio all the time
