Hello Stellar Guitarist! Do you have any recommendations for finding your voice? I can play decent guitar but am a horrible singer. Every time I learn one of the songs you teach, I think I can play and sing but then I give up because it doesn’t sound good to me. I have messed with alternate tunings, different keys and moving the capo around- some things help but not enough!! Any advice would be welcomed- thank you!
Hi Jim, this is a really tough question to answer because there are so many moving parts to this - first of all, we are always our worst critic. I don't think that there are many people in this world who absolutely LOVE the sound of their own voice. I think it take courage to feel confident in ones singing... and this takes work and possibly some training too (if you are really serious). For the most part, recording yourself and listening back is a great tool. Remember, positive and constructive criticism of yourself is always key. If you want to take things further, then I would seriously consider vocal training, even if for a few sessions so a professional can hear you and then help you. Good luck! 🎵
