Comparing this to the Sherman kind of misses the point, sherman is a gunboat while the gearing line is supposed to be a hybrid type of DD which this ship seems to continue quite well for a T11.
the funny thing is gearing and humphreys have the same HE dpm as sherman
@@wfgaming3761 Only with HE. Sherman's SAP DPM is way higher than the AP of the other two.

Seems like what the Gearing should be if you took the booster away.
I'd trade the booster for HE/SAP on the guns, but it's not a bad ship by the looks of it. In the same ballpark as the Ushakov for a super ship, I think.

It's definitely better than Ushakov. An improved burst is extremely valuable on destroyers.
People forget the Gearing line was the OG gunboat line. Then they proceed to build them as a torp boats and wonder why they are so bad. The Gearing line is great. Build them for guns. Sure, they aren't as powerful as some of the other gunboats in the game now, but I feel like that is because they also have pretty decent torps and smoke, making them a 'hybrid' line for sure, but the guns are still pretty good.
it just feels terrible to run them as gunboats because unless you're a really good player you get obliterated by every other gunboat, the french, the russians, the sherman, the daring, the haragumo, even the italians, all of them completely outgun you. Not to say gearing guns are bad, but they have been so power crept they feel useless. As an average player i get way better results out of a torp build.

@@ProbablyJustASadPotato Lol useless... It has best range of torps for this meta when lot of ships have 12km radar and lot of stupid airplanes flying over you head. But you you have 16.5km torps with good demage, spot and realod. This is hybrid DD so of course that gunboats are gonna outgun you...but you have better concelment then them, mostly you will have RPF if you are not dumb and you have better torps. Your gun DPM is also very good, come on man 215k DPM is not a joke. And you can spot them for your team, torp them and if things go wrong you can smoke up and leave. Haragumo, sherman, dalarna - all big and easy to torp. I think it mostly depend on your skill and not on DD you sail with.
As someone who absolutely sucks in dd's, can the dd main players say whether having a burst fire on a dd worth it?
I think this video is a showcase of "yes"

Looks like a slightly better gearing, which if you're a gearing fan, may be great. I do better with the Francs and Euros.
That Missouri deserves a perma ban.
I really hate the concept of super ships but being a DD main I'll admit that I'm kind of drooling right about now.

Sadly WG will never ever actually ban people. So many would deserve it, and the game would be in a much better state if they got banned. But banned people don't spend money I guess. Rather than big money from satisfied customers, they do the easy route: small money from dissatisfied customers. What a disgrace.

I will never forget how one of these dds just ripped 3/4 of Kita hp with this and then disengaged
And this was japanese dd with worse hayate turrets
Main guns of this boat, however, have 2,5 base reload
It was so much more than the gearing has that I only noticed that she got burst fire when I read this comment

These things cannot be balanced to face lower tier, they just don't have downsides
Yet wg is so persistent at making them perfect at anything so they can take advantage from other ships' downsides
Condidering this one, they couldn't give Hump 12 torps, so they decided to give her permanent 14% reload buff
Why, just why
- Faster shell travel time, 13s at 14 km vs Gearing 16s, better AP pen ofc.
- Better turret angle 23°, close to Darlana 20°, while gearing showing a bit more sides 29-36°.
- 22% ore HP (4.3k) with better SE.
- Better AA, w/ DefAA close to Halland w/o DefAA, CV still don't care though.
@@skld12953/4 Kitakaze HP only from burst means best case scenario which is barely possible, unless Kitakaze no SE and stock hull.
2700 base HE dmg after burst buff, 6 guns x 3 burst x 0.33 pen dmg = 16k dmg not including misses and saturation.
Kitakaze HP ranges from 16.2k to 24.3k
... "hulls have built in resistance, t10 resists 50% of shell fire chance, t11 even more"
So when talking about fire chance of shells, keep in mind and note that your shells actually have 2-2.5% fire chance
Superships basically destroy the value of all your tier 9 and 10 ships.
no they dont. its very expensive to run a ss. dont see as many now. i ply my t10 more than my 4 ss.
That's like saying TX destroys the value of your T9 and T8 ships.
Tier IX has got to be the roughest tier these days. Kinda felt bad for the opposing Neptune and Alaska, even though it was foolhardy to push up that early in a Starship game.
At least you make mad Credits at T9 with premiums.

tier 9s tasting what they gave tier 7s all those years back
I like against T11 with T9, couple of time I wreck them however the real problem is with light cruiser especially Neptune and hector
Booster give you 4.5 (equiv damage) shots in 35 seconds vs 11 seconds to get same 4.5 salvos. This burst seems highly suspect. At least the other boosts had a massive dispertion buff on ships that could land citadels this one doesn't really seem worth while unless you are 100% sure you are finishing someone off.

@WF Gaming no it is not. If it were a Sherman it would have faster shell ballistics, hydro, and better fire chance. Did you just blank out when he was talking about this ship and when he was literally comparing it to the Sherman? 🫤

i.e. give it austin shell arc. It now has the same shell arc as jinan. They all have the same gun and shells but the austin has way better shell arcs.
That guy needs to be reported to WG, that's a violation of the EULA and has probably done it to other players so hopefully you can atleast get them chat banned for a while

What that person who told enemy your position is showed is not just piss poor gameplay and sportsmanship, it is also a very poor display of character, definetly would want to avoid someone like this outside of the video game too.
it has more hp but no heal so, meh. I'd rather have a heal. "F" increased damage on dd guns isn't as useful as it sounds. you only get the damage if you pen. so, yea it may hit other dd's hard, but it's a gamble on anything else.
This ship may be an ok T10 premium, but it is hardly a supership. I'd prefer daring, sherman, marceau, and others over this ship.
Kinda wondering whether they took the pre- nerf ballistics of the 5”/38 and just slapped them on to the new 5”/54.
Ships looks bad for "superships" but GG nice game !
'Interval between shots' 1.25s. Normal reload 2.5s. It's very much unimpressive.
Joshua Humphreys has same 127mm/54, same shell weight, same velocity but in this game the shell traver quite bit slower VS Forrest Sherman (9.2s Sherman vs ~12s Joshua at 14 km, Gearing 127mm/38 15.3s).
Humphreys burst is extremely situational.
In 3s, 16k dmg if all hits and assuming saturation never exist vs 7k without burst.
Trade-off is she's losing 27k full pen dmg w/o saturation potential in 35s time period (burst reload).
Assuming 75% burst hit rate and target already on half saturation, instant kill any dangerous dpm DDs w/o armor with 6k HP remaining.
Turret angle is nice, all 23° quite close to Darlana 20° while gearing need a little bit showing broadside 29-36°, improved AA, Gearing concealment +4.3k HP.
And the 5”/54 on the Wukong takes 5.4 seconds to reload. No idea about flight time. The guns are only graphics anymore.
@@old_guard2431 I think you meant Sejong, yeah it has 5.2s reload, exact same guns as Forrest Sherman Mk 18 (gun designation, historically accurate by design only, 1.5s reload), the difference is Sejong has twin gun Mk 42 (mount designation of Mk 18)...
Not sure about real reload time, perhaps 3.5s, while 5.2s is just game balancing just like many others, nothing new.
Flight time though... 12s for Sejong at 14 km (similar to Humphreys), WG balancing in nutshell, same gun, same velocity, same mass, different shell name Mk32 (Joshua, 12s flight), Mk41 (Sejong 12s), Mk41 (Sherman 9.2s).
Good game! Really like playing DD’s. Working my way to the Vampire II.
For some reason I seem to play my Gearing really well. Also like the IJN gunboat line. And am going up the British line, currently with the HMS Jervis.

its kinda of simular to the dalarna. ive never played dalarna or humphreys but humphreys seems like a slighlty better dalarna.

That Missouri must've had a REALLY bad day before he logged on.
Its just too big, too clumsy, no hydro facing one more hydro, radar and you are done. This ship has no gimmick. Burst is for all super ships, nothing special. Mediocre at best. And to be honest lucky game or good player means a lot even in such mediocre ship.
That I4 guy would have just rushed into his death in your position, because I think he just didn't realize you were winning.
Wow, to give away position on a 1 v 4 probable win AND possible solo warrior. Don't think I have ever seen something so bottom of the barrel.
Sounds very meh. I'm way more drooling over that one with 15 deepwater torps and a TRB.

The guns might feel underwhelming expecting it to be like F. Shermans, but these mounts are double canons.

Good for you. I'm sure that player was humiliated and humbled. You really thought an important lesson there.
Joshua guns are very comparable to dalarna, neck and neck in dpm and velocity. The main dif is that joshua gets that burst fire whilst dalarna gets better fire chance.
Then its just
smoke, speed, gearing torps, slight concealment edge
or
heal+dfaa and halland torps with alt fire.
I think joshua is the better boat personally. 7:15 is a great example as to why. They both have great torps but joshua can bully enemy dds with its burst then disengage with smoke or islands.
is there a reason why you mostly use overlapping torp spreads? I always try to spread them as wide as possible with the thin spread mode, so not many torps overlap. I understand, that overlapping them might be better, when ships are running away or going towards me, so it is harder to dodge all of them but i see you spreading your torps pretty thinly all the time
It reduces gaps between torpedoes. People can just slide in them and dodge your torps, so if you overlap, then they can't.
If it works for you keep doing what you're doing. If it doesn't, try something else.
