    I love how on all of these interviews he causes a change within the host. You can see his calm energy do its magic. It's like the hosts melt and become more childlike and just look in awe of him. I imagine that sitting and speaking to him was an amazing experience. No one is perfect - but he came the closest!

    As a Christian, I am appalled at how folks who claim to be "Christian" treat others, judge others, look down their noses at others. This man modeled what we are supposed to be like. How he treated others, how he respected others, how he was always gentle and kind. There are only a few who could truly lay claim to living a Christ modeled life. Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi, and this man, Fred Rogers, top my short list. This world would be a better place if more adults were like him.

    • @ellenmurphy2150

      Yes. Mister Rogers is a good man.

    • @placebojesus5652
      @placebojesus5652 5 лет назад +2

      You know Mother Theresa actually was a bit over-hyped in the media as Christopher Hitchens communicates pretty well in some videos available on RUclips (she was very much more about conveying an image of Saintliness rather than truly embodying it), and I fairly sure I’ve heard similar things about Gandhi, however I’m not as certain about the supporting facts behind that so I won’t assert it with as much confidence.
      I can say though, as a non-religious person, that Fred Rogers was probably the best person I’ve ever heard about/personally observed in my life. Fortunately I got to grow up at the end of his original series run, so I watched him as a very young child and I recall hating Barney for some reason (who was always saying I love you, etc.) but loving Mr. Rogers (and Sesame Street). I think it had to do with the earnestness and the depth that Mr. Rogers so perfectly communites. His actions definitely embodied the way someone who wants to embrace the positive moral lessons of Christ, and someone whom clearly cares about people, particularly the most sensitive and impactable of people i.e. children & the sick/disabled above all.
      I really hope we can have another Mr. Roger someday. If I ever have kids, I will be sure to expose them to as many episodes of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood as I’m can. And I’m very grateful to my parents for introducing me to his show as a young child :).

      Not every person or faith Christians etc etc are rude mean people some are very kind people sometimes it’s the situations we face everyday that puts stress pressure etc on people to act mean yes no excuse to be unkind but I think people get in the moment and just act on feelings like they get angry and snap a unkind word etc etc and don’t think and then there are some who do have evil hearts and don’t care but if we try to be nice to people especially those who are mean to us then we can make a better world got to practice kindness don’t you think so??

    It's rare to have people who reach a point of fame and yet still retain their honesty and humanity. I'm English and a late 90s kid so I never caught Fred on TV, but my hat goes off to him either way and a massive middle digit to the patronising tools I grew up with. He just has the most calming stage presence ever.

      Fred was actually uncomfortable being famous. That was not what he was in the industry for. He saw himself as an educator, and when he was ordained as a Presbyterian minister, he was given the charge of communicating with children and their families through the mass media.

    The world needs more people like Fred Rogers. I grew up in Pittsburgh and would occasionally see Mr. Rogers around town when I was a young kid. I deeply regret to say that I was "too cool" to go up and say hello to him. Today, I put him up there with John Lennon, Martin Luther King Jr. and other personal heroes. The simplest messages are sometimes the most pure, the most profound, the most powerful. "Each of us is special, and each of us has something special to give," was his.

    The only thing I can say to that is that for every single person who tried to tell you that you were wrong, every person that belittled you or made you angry - none of them took the time to think, or the time to see that you were a person every bit as important and as special as them. I'm sorry to hear that so many people didn't appreciate you, but I'm glad that you held on to that one very caring person that did.

    What about you? What about me? That has always been part of his message. We all have to care for eachother. Even if it's just one person caring for one other person, the whole world would be cared for. It isn't a huge stretch to reach that point, as long as every person realizes that all it takes is a person standing up and doing what is right.

    Some of the schools in western PA(Fred was a pittsburgh area native i'm sure you know) had a moment of silence for him that day. It's a terrible loss for the world, but also sets a very very high goal for us, his television friends. If we can grow up and be HALF the person Fred was every day of our lives, I think he made the world a much, much better place in the long run. Him just being here for the short time he was made the world a better place, but it's up to us to keep his legacy going.

    I regret making fun of Fred Rogers. His show was 100% healthier for kids than other shows, including Sesame Street.
    If you watch the average sitcom, it's half an hour of putdowns. 30 minutes of nasty comebacks. Kids' cartoons are bombardment; half an hour of loud noises, flashing colors, explosions, and gunfire.
    Looking back, I learned more from his show than from Sesame Street. I learned about sharing, jobs, tolerance.
