The Conservation of the Mosaic of the Transfiguration in the Monastery of Saint Catherine Sinai

In 2005 the Center for Archaeological Conservation in Rome (CCA) directed by Roberto Nardi began the restoration of the mosaic of the Transfiguration in the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai. The mosaic is a jewel of early byzantine art. Video latest version

Wonderful, to see this-- I have been reading a wonderful book by H V Morton called 'Through lands of the bible', in which the writer describes his visit to St Catherine's and his journey through the Holy land. it is fascinating reading !
