- A very exciting day! I began a journey of learning about cast-iron after buying a family home that came with some very old pieces of my great grandparents. In this process, I found Cast Iron Chaos and several other RUclips resources for identifying cast-iron. They’re great for learning how to care for it, identify who made it, and when it was made. It’s a fun journey that turned into a semi hobby. These RUclips channels often will have a Wednesday night live stream where they discuss cast-iron. On this particular Wednesday cast-iron chaos held a giveaway and I was the winner for the new Wagner wear cast-iron utility grill. It’s very neat that a group of people have gotten together and brought back the Wagner Ware brand and are making it in America. This utility grill is an exact replica of the one that came out in the 1940s or 50s. It’s a great griddle for cooking a lot of different foods and so nice to be able to have a piece of American history that is a new chapter for a great company! I recommend checking out cast-iron chaos, even if you don’t collect cast-iron because you may end up collecting it after listening to his knowledge and it’s a great group of people that show up every Wednesday to check out what he’s got to talk about or cook.
Hey JIR, looks like you have a nice piece to add to your grandparents iron, should be around for quite some time 🎊🎉
As the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy says, it's important to keep your towel with you at all times.
OMG!!! This is awesome! I had no idea they were making these again. I have some of the old pieces. Congratulations. I am so jealous and excited for you. Cast Iron is the best. Though I moved to Arkansas last June, I'm from Ohio.....the outskirts of Dayton. Sidney is just a hop, skip and a jump from where I grew up. How amazing to see you have the same love as I do. YAY! I can hardly wait until you use this griddle and give us the lowdown. Love from Arkansas!
Thank you so much, Valli! I was happy to hear they had brought back the old brand. I can definitely say the quality of the griddle is really nice. It’s smooth and very well constructed. That’s so cool that you have some of the antique pieces. I love the ones I was lucky enough to inherit and the few I have found. The skillets are great because you can go from the stove top right into the oven! Arkansas is great. I have an original portable kitchen aluminum grill from the 60s that was made in Little Rock. The interesting thing about the new Wagner company is everyone is trying to find out where they’re actually located and who is making the grills. They still say Sydney Ohio on them, but people are thinking they might have someone else making them as the foundry is gone from that location. I will definitely do a video using the griddle! Thank you so much for your kindness!
