As a Spurs fan for over 30 years. Levy gets my respect. He has made Spurs the club they are today. Spurs are seen as a big club despite not winning titles. Yes of course as a fan it would be good to see the club I support winning titles but I understand reality and Spurs are in one of the most combative league in the world. Levy has done what he said he was going to do with Spurs. Good to see him speaking up and showcasing he is a person a fan of the club.
LOL Who apart from Spurs fans considers Spurs as a big club? I think you live in an echo chamber, go into any neutral football stream or environment Spurs are laughed at even Huddersfield has won more league titles 🤣
@jeffdawsonkkkkk Big enough to rattle your cage 😂😂
You watch one intervew and years of mediocrity and straight up lies go out the window
@@javedAbbas6677 Look up a dictionary. Big club meaning they are literally by definition a big club. They have a state of the art stadium and their ex-captain is the England captain...they are one of the big teams in the premier league. Even looking at their fanbase, a big club can be described as any club with a very large following which spurs undoubtable have. They have a reputation of bottling things and not winning things but that doesn't describe a big club, that describes a successful club. To different things. So maybe read a book sometime.
Gets your respect..have fun paying for Cat B games 100 qiud
Gotta say I was more than a bit surprised to see that Levy had done this interview with Bloomberg. It was interesting. To my mind, its about marketing the club and stadium. He's now focusing on the business side of things while Scott Munn is responsible for football activities. Hoping Ange can create a very successful football team that wins things - and plays attractive football.
As he said, we are a self sustaining club so the only way to compete for the best players is through creating revenue. I think a happy place for us is to let Daniel focus on that side of things and let people like Scott Munn focus on the football side of things.
No huge revelations but worth a watch. Levy only gets a light grilling but we don’t hear from him that much so it’s better than nothing. Up the Spurs
This man is milking the good vibes around the club for everything its worth. Thanks for asking some actual tricky questions.
Yeah and why not? fans have been asking for him to talk more. Tell them what is happening. Now he is doing it the narrative is 'oh he is milking things '. the anti levy fans dislike him based on a personal level. They think they are Spurs and think Spurs should be ran like how they run Spurs in their hands.
@@orinorio1 you said yourself that he is milking it in your initial statement. I believe he is holding us back as a Football Club by focusing on Tottenham the business. No mentions of a trophy in both publis speaking appointments.
@@reggaesquirrel. If the club does have the most debt of any European club, surely Tottenham the business needs to be focused on. Considering how many clubs have crashed and burned due to finances over the years, this has to be foremost in the mind of any responsible person.
They were all trap questions, shotty journalism
@@orinorio1none of the fans want to see him talk, they want him to stfu and leave in silence
I’m a relatively new Spurs fan but from what I’ve understood over the past few years, owning a team doesn’t really seem lucrative anymore in terms of getting a return on the investment. Players are going to start costing 100 million on the regular and unless you’re a billionaire like Todd Boehly or a Saudi investor, I don’t really know who else would still want to own a club. I respect how diversified the income streams have become for the club, with the new stadium, commercial partnerships, and such, and although fans slag Levy off for “not focusing on the football enough,” there’s really no way we can compete without securing our future through other methods of income aside from football. I understand that being successful on the pitch will ultimately grow the club revenue further, but there’s no harm in trying to excel in the business / commercial bit of football as well.
What I wish was that Levy was more visible over the past few years and owned up to the mistakes sooner. I think he got a bit lucky with Ange (a lot of people didn’t think Ange was “good enough” or a marquee signing) but I think this is the best I’ve felt about the club since the Champions League run.
It is big news and he came across really well I thought.
I really enjoyed this interview. Thank you for that.
Great interview ..short sharp questions ..on point ..but Levy was a "politician' on answers
This is clearly Levy marketing the club for external investment. It would make sense, given Joe Lewis had to sign his 70% share of the club into a family trust it wouldn’t be surprising if Levy was looking for buyers. Levy owns about 30% of the club. Likely he wants to retain his 30% whilst finding suitors who will take on Joe Lewis’s equity. It all seems pretty clear that’s his goal when you breakdown what he says in the interview
- Specifics on additional revenues that are unique to Spurs like the concerts and NFL
- Highlighting Spurs are best places to beat FFP rules if they had more ability to spend
- Explaining it would be twice as expensive to copy Spurs and build a new stadium now than when he did it. Along with highlighting how hard it was.
- Explains the long term loans we have are at low interest rates that aren’t achievable anymore.
It’s a marketing play ‘Come check us out, we are open to offers’
It is marketing but not to sell Lewis' equity. It's marketing to host concerts, NFL games, sell the stadium name etc.
@@JRoss485Out of curiosity what makes you think that? He discusses our profitability and ability to navigate FFP. To me that doesn’t help him sell concerts etc.
Why did Joe Lewis have to do that?
Good interview. I think Daniel has realised the fans just want to understand why we do certain things and it’s best coming from the man at the top. I hope we hear more from him at key points going forward as he does speak well and I do believe he is genuine in wanting the best for the club.
My respect and estimation has resined of Daniel Levy, perhaps he should done this earlier to get the fans on board….COYS
Daniel Levy has the worst trophy per season percentage stats of any THFC chairman since World War Two. A statistical fact! That's the true reality of what Daniel Levy has achieved as an on the pitch football chairman. His biggest local rivals Arsenal lead Tottenham Hotspur 16 trophies to 1. Arsenal have won 8 FA Cups, 8 Community Shields, and 2 Premier League titles to Tottenham's 1 League Cup during the ENIC era. The Arsenal fans have celebrated 16 victories at Wembley to Tottenham's 1 time during this period. This is the true on the pitch factual reality of Daniel Levy and ENIC HOTSPUR...
Credit to Harry Kane. Nearly sold to City. Didn't, City got Haaland.
I do think he comes across well. I would have liked an explanation about the mourinho sacking before the cup final though. But still, gotta respect someone in this postition
Harry kane long gone. Stop talking about him with Tottenham already
Pretty decent interview actually even though he really didn’t give away too much .
Smells like strategic communication for the naming rights.. “the stadium would now cost 2 billion to build” and “we don’t need to sell the naming rights since we now realised we are building a global brand name for Tottenham thanks to the stadium”. In other words, if any of the Google, Nike etc. comes back for the stadium, the price may have doubled. This Chairman deserves a lot of respect.
12.01 “ in addition to soccer events “
Its not soccer events, its our home for our football team.
🤦🏾♂️
Haven't really learnt anything new from this interview. Yes we all know Levy has built a great infrastructure etc, its just on the pitch where he continously fails us.
Doing well this year.
Poor Nuno, not even getting a mention 😢.
I'd love to see levy work in pm I think he'd be loved and hated but do a decent job
The Arsenal stadium cost 390 million in 2006 😮
Money used to be worth more, too
I would like him as my broker. Ruthless business man.
Full respect.
Very good open honest interview I thought.I agree Entertaining football, & if possible Win with style
COYS.
The Club? A Corporation which specializes in Sports& Entertainment in it's brand new events centre!
And our last F.A Cup win was in 1991( aswell as the Charity Shield) And prior to that it was in 1981& again 1982..And League Cup wins in 1998 and again in 2008..Hardly overwhelming for a big Club aka Corporation!
But i suppose we have differing standards and wants& i w/b a lot happier if some new owners came along &totally restructured, bringing in new staff( in many areas) because there's such self satisfaction with limited aspirations& a exceptance of mediocrity which has existed for a very long time!
Look at that.. everyone wants to be Barcelona now
What a con man coming out while the goings good!!! Didn’t do much when things were down??? Which was all down to him his mistakes
Spurs are very lucky to have Daniel Levy. He has transformed the club and under very difficult circumstances he is making Spurs a top top club. COYS
I smell big changes.
Levy loves this limelight, but not the graft. He's made for this talking head rodeo
Just ask his fans - he has none
Yeah whatever man - He has done ok to be fair.
Loves the limelight 😂😂😂😂😂 he speaks to media once every decade 🤣🤣
Yeah haha very true! @@theaveragetom8392
The man hates the limelight & avoids it, hence his doing an interview is big news.
When he doesn't speak he gets criticised, when he does speak he gets criticised.
Enjoy the loss to Arsenal this week
Such a politician.
Daniel, until a sutable sponsor can be found can we not call it 'White Hart Kane'? After all, 'We are Tottenham, from the Lane' 🪗🎵
Mr burns
For all the Levy haters I ask you to buy the Spurs biography by Julie Welch. It details the dire straits of the club, actually close to bankruptcy, when ENIC bought the club. Now the 9th richest club in the world with a growing fan base. Mistakes have been made by the board, but other clubs success like Chelsea and Man City was bought rather than earned. I hope UEFA are serious about FFP because we are now in a position to compete aggresively on a self-sufficient basis.
I agree completely. I don’t think people understand how difficult it is to run a club if you’re not Boehly or an oil billionaire. Football is an entirely different ballgame and while there are no proper spending regulations in place yet that will avoid the player market increasing to 200 million pounds per player, Spurs are doing what they need to do to stay alive.
Even Boehly has made a total mess of it so far.
Love the last quote from Levy - "ofcourse winning, but winning with style" :-) Always been the spurs way, and so happy that the core motto "Dare is to Do" is back at the hearth of the club again 🙂
Spurs have one of the highest incomes in football but can't compete financially. The club is just a way to get priority access to Tottenham real estate & that's where the profits are actually going.
BEST INTERVIEW BY LEVY EVER! I’VE SLATED HIM THE LAST 4-5 YEARS BUT HE’S ADMITTED JOSE/CONTE WERE MISTAKES AND NOT RIGHT FOR OUR CLUB AND HE’S MADE A PERFECT DECISION BY HIRING ANGE! 👏 here’s to an enjoyable season. COYS.
Cannot stand how Daniel Levy tries to act like financially Tottenham are not one of the richest clubs in the world …
he is bald
Get glazer next ferro
I think this interview has changed my opinion of Levy somewhat. The very fact that he has owned his mistakes, ie. Mourinho who I never saw as a good fit, and Conte who, let's be honest, was disappointing both in team style and his own commentary, is a big mark in the plus column for me.
Excuses
Good that Harry Kane left. Otherwise he would never win a club championship.
He will not take 1-0 win 🤡
Fans want only one thing, to win, but a football club is a business and must be run that way.
Ha ha. Young dude with specs going like The Exorcist. Good times
Poch ticked all the boxes of what he says he wants, he just didn't back him. I knew Mourinho and Conte werent right for the club and would lead to years of frustration and turmoil, but he made a decision based on success on paper instead of understanding how perfect poch was for the club which was outrageous considering everything poch had done, and then learnt the hard way that it was wrong. It wasted years of Harry Kane's career, one of, if not the best player we've ever had, as i knew it would. Poch may have brought success in these wasted 4-5 years. However, now we have Ange which could be his saving grace.
Harry served Spurs well, even if he decides to come back it wouldn't be worth it he'd just be too old.
Spurs are a sleeping giant. Just needed a great manager. Now we have that. New dawn is on the horizon
What fans ? No one at Tottenham likes him as a chairman but as a person he's a great guy
This guy is a boss
People forget Levy has been fighting against two sportswashed clubs in Chelsea and Man City and now a third in Newcastle. I bet he'd have been a fair bit more successful if that hadn't been allowed. It's been interesting to see how much Chelsea have imploded since the Russians have gone.
