I’ve learned this whole process during my information technology internship. My supervisor Scott Welsh showed me this whole procedure so in case of an emergency situation I know how to get residents at my worksite to safety This was all during my last year of high school
At my school, it always breaks down but I never see them working on it and days later it just starts working. It has a key and I have that key so many students ask me for my key for a ride, as we are not allowed. I don't think they understand no yet but they will get it sooner or later
There is a 12 level parking structure nearby with two Otis Gen 2 MRL (roped) elevators. As it this video the counterweight has a compensating sheave 2:1 however the static side of the ropes in the video anchored top of the frame work, does not appear the case with these elevators. There is a 2nd set of hoist ropes on the opposite side of the cab I believe there are perhaps four sheaves top of the frame two defectors, the ropes pass over.
Wow, it works very different to how British lifts work, usually you have to send the lift down and open the doors as it comes down but here you have to turn a key inside then lower it manually from the landing. Very strange but cool
You must always verify everything! You need to check up and down!!! Did you do it outside of filming??? and how did you make it move from outside with the safety broken?!?!?!? I understand lifts in the US may be different but I did not know they were that different!
DieselDucy but you can't just rely on these things to work in the UK you put it on inspection get out close the doors press call on every floor to make sure the lift DOSE NOT MOVE and then you get on it press run and up and then run and down idk if there is a run button in the US but there is in the UK and then you can surf it and do any lifts in US say doors opening doors closing?!?!?
I really think that there should be a safety disclaimer on this video Andrew, especially seeing how conscious of the safety of other Elevator enthusiast you are.
Cool. Having safety disclaimers on videos has begun to circulate around the community a lot recently. I'm currently fixing up one of my videos as I type this....
+NationalElevator so that they can catch the people that go into the top of the elevator with out permission. and you shouldnt do it it is dangerous ill never do that stuff becuase i dont want risks of being injured
Those who are or have been watching this, please do NOT attempt any activities in any elevator shafts! Doing so will cause someone to get hurt, killed, or can cause property damage! You might also face several legal consequences!
Nice Video! Used to watch your videos all the time, now getting back into it. I have heard that their is something going on with the Market Parking Garage? How's that going?
Should have verified that the car top stop switch then the inspection switch where working before you stepped onto the car. This is just nuts. No ppe Safety Equipment on either. Absolutely crazy 👎
Awesome! What an amazing experience. Interesting how the whole system is self supported.

Nice! I remember at my high school seeing the elevator techs working on top of the car..

The cartop camera is to aid rescue workers in cab positioning during a manual brake release.
Jon Rogers And to stop liftsurfing?

+TheTheo58 most mrl has 2 to 1 roping
Because MRL are mostly gearless

Amazing experience on a Schindler traction glass service/freight elevator!!!
It was awesome. This is MEI though.
First time seeing the "acess" keyslot in action. Is it just inspection mode but with a limit?
Wow! I like the cartop rides!
That's so cool! You are so lucky Andrew!

+tamtom gaming they are different. Once u switch it on inspection it won't move. But yes we checked it before hand

Amazing experience on a montykone elevator
this is a MEI.

+The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel It is fixed :)
Cool. Having safety disclaimers on videos has begun to circulate around the community a lot recently. I'm currently fixing up one of my videos as I type this....
+The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel Unless you are with an elevator technician these areas should NEVER be entered under any circumstances.
DieselDucy That's right. Elevator shafts are never safe
Yup, only skilled people only
I like how they put a camera on the top of the elevator so they can catch the people who think it is okay to play on the top of an elevator.
+22408aaron agreed
I completely agree... that is nice. so that pepole that play in cartops can be caught....
22408aaron Use some spray paint? And they won’t see anything, Even with flash!
Did i just saw a chair in the elevator?
DieselDucy, do you have any parts from the Marriott Marquis in Georgia that recently God modded? I MISS THE OLD VOICE!!!!
Sam Eberts I think he does. Ems 318 collected some landing call panels and I think he gave one to Dieselducy
Nice installation.
It was
If you open the door with the drop key but you don't turn the in-car inspection switch to inspection
will the cartop controls still operate or not ?
The cartop controls should still work
Why the hell do they need a camera on top of the elevator?
+NationalElevator
i guess companies are becoming aware of a certain surfer...
+O Town Elevators A certain surfer? I wonder who that is. It can't be me as I have never been to the USA.
+Beno or have you
Suspensions 😮

"I do this so you don't have to" LOL
Is this in Mankato? This looks like a neat elevator.
Nice Video! Used to watch your videos all the time, now getting back into it.
I have heard that their is something going on with the Market Parking Garage? How's that going?
+Justin G well the hotel is almost done :)
Riding the inside of the lift is fine but he means whatever dangerous, unauthorized thing seen or heard.
+DieselDucy, I so want to know the name of the song youvuse in the introduction of your newest videos, please and thank you!! 😻😻
That's how you access the cartop on a Schindler Servitel
I like the counterweight
American MRLs are actually well built, you could even mistake it as a MR type of lifts.
The only MRLs that are actually well built in the US are Generic MRLs, Thyssenkrupps, and SOME Gen2s
How does the counter weight work?
One end of the rope is anchored to the top of the elevator shaft, and the other end goes to the main sheave
it provides balance and stability on the elevator so it won't plummet down the shaft
It makes the weight of the whole thing balance
Very nice!
0:39 is this cctv next to light?
DANGER: If you are doing this, when you go to enter/exit, WATCH YOUR STEP OR YOU COULD TRIP OVER THE DOOR OPERATOR!
That is true turd ferguson
Amazing!
Where is this location?
In Mankato
@@DieselDucy Where in Mankato?
+DieselDucy (Andrew) I live in Denver CO Why don't you come over and see me ride some elevators over there. thats why i like you
