    Transilvania once was a region of Hungary, moreover there used to live a lot of Germans.
    This sweet spread across East and Central Europe.
    So now we have the Hungarian version, the one of the video, different regional varieties, and the German Baumkuchen, that differs a lot.

    I'm not Hungarian, I'm just an historian.
    The use of backing pastries on a spit probably originated in Ancient Greece.
    This pastries were served during Dionysiac Feasts and Parties.
    Dionysus was the God of Pleasure.
    Probably the cylindric shape of the sweet reminded to the shape of you know what.
    Coming back to more recent times.
    The old Kingdom of Hungary was way wider than nowadays Republic of Hungary.
    It included parts of nowadays Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, Serbia.
    The dish we appreciate today originated from the Saxons that lived in Transilvania.
    The use of cinnamon is only datable to the XX century.
    Invented by Saxons, become national dish of Hungarians and spread by them all over Europe.
    But even Turkey has its own variant.
    At that time, sugar was a prerogative of the Ottoman Empire and Iran.
    So, probably, the Turkish conserved that Ancient Greek baking way and inspired the Saxons of Transilvania.
    Cinnamon is a plant that grows mainly in Sri Lanka.
    Very difficult to obtain during the Middle Age.
    That's the boring, exhaustive history with all its "maybe".

      @@goldpaulike5304 Habsburgs ruled in Hungary since 1526 when Ferdinand I. bacame king of Hungary, Croatia and Bohemia also emperor of thr Holy Roman Empire. Last emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire left in 1918.
      So I agree with you, I admit theese years were complicated and thing even got more complicated when osman army came to the Europe.
      In the year of 1679 situation in Hungary was a mess (untill 1686) Ottomans conquered most of the hungarian kingdom , but imagine how big territory Hungary had in that time. They did not managed to conquer it all. Ottomans set eyalets ( something like provinces) like Egri, Temesvar,Bosnia,Budin , etc... , they were strictly under ottoman rule as new parts of the Ottoman empire. Principality of upper Hungary was something as a puppet state of Ottomans (nowadays Slovakia) As well as Principality of Transylvania(also puppet).
      BUT in the 1683 Kara Mustafa Pasa lost a battle of Vienna ( due to the heroism of Poland warriors mostly ) - The Saint League (kin. of Poland, emp. of Austria, Venice came to the battlefield in the name of the pope Innocent XI. against Ottomans and won, from this point ottomans lost many minor battles and their influence in Hungary ( Transylvania included) was lower and lower
      in 1697 there was a battle of Zenta where Ottomans finally lost and also lost all the land that was Hungarian
      So in 1679 transylvania was an ottoman puppet , but in 1781 this piece of land talked hungarian and german ( Maria Theresia and her son wanted to establish german as a official language of the monarchy but the attempt failed ) in 1781 Transylvania was a crown land of Habsburg Austria as well as Hungary , Czechia etc. till 1867 when Transylvania vanished and became part of Kingdom of Hungary till the end ( 1918). - So it was not in Romania as someone wrote. They had their own kingdom.

      네, 아이스크림 넣어서 많이 먹더군요.
      그냥 먹어도 맛있었어요. 특히 시나몬 ㅋ

    Pero no entiendo, si sabes de donde proviene el kurtoskalacs, ¿por qué pones como titulo que es coreano?

    참고로 이거 체코가 아니라 슬로바키아에서 19세기 중반에 생긴 빵임. 전통도 아니고 체코도 아님.

    이거 헝가리 음식인줄 알았는데 체코 음식이였군요...!

      @FoodyTrip  4 года назад +1

      아....이거 대부분 한국분들은 '체코 굴뚝빵'이라고 해서 체코 음식으로 알고 있어요. 저도 그랬구요.
      그런데 말씀처럼 헝가리가 원조라고 하더군요.
      많은 분들 검색이나 이해를 돕기 위해서 한국어 제목에는 체코 굴뚝빵이라고 썼어요^^;
