    Have one more exam to go (Series 65) to get in office and start trying to build my book of business and the main thing mindset I’m adopting is “I’d rather grind myself into a pulp in my 20s for an easier life in my 30s on and be able to enjoy my family, and start my own business and take risks”

      Absolutely love that! Its the exact same mindset that I feel positioned me pretty well for adulthood. All the best! You’ll crush it.

    Very interesting insight. Early in my life I thought about going down this path but I ended up going the engineering route instead.

    As an advisor growing an independent practice, this is spot on, but if you can make if through those first 5 years living like most aren't willing to it will get better. 10 million in AUM is a big milestone along with 100 clients. This is a people first business, growth will happen one client at a time. This business requires some patience, along with sacrificing short-term gratification for a better future 10 plus years out.

    • @JoshOlfertCFP

      Couldn’t have said it better!
      … I mean it clearly takes me 8-12 minutes to say that.

    2:24 One man's trash, another ones treasure! I thought your first month results were spectacular! And I'm not just saying that to be nice. I dont know what's considered terrible or good results in your field but you certainly do. I would expect a knowledge like that from someone years in.. not first month =] I'm glad to see that thought process brought you the success you inevitably learned today! Best of luck! Love the videos.

    Hey Josh how do you know if you are being recruited to a firm that is trying to take advantage of you? Im new and think my firm is great but havent been there long. Love the videos as always :D

    • @JoshOlfertCFP
      @JoshOlfertCFP  Год назад +1

      Two good rules of thumb for this!
      1) Is part of the job recruiting other advisors?
      2) Is the firm encouraging you to distribute/sell certain products more than others?
      This won't necessarily lead you to a perfect firm, but it will lead you *away* from most of the organizations you really don't want to partner with in the long haul.
