Greensleeves my favourite reggae label. They have soo many B sides that are locked on vinyl only (I believe there were over 600 12“ vinyls).
VP should release a complete collection of these.
GRED 001 - GRED 300 should be released as a priority imo 😊

Great song and riddim . Greensleeves was the label with all the hits songs and artists on there label. But if they did deal with artists well with royalties??? May be the label would still be going. VP has taken over and I still think the company still make more money than the artist? ??? . Junjo laws sold out nuff of the artist. Only because he couldn’t read ? ? I understand that nuff of the artist can’t get money until after 50 years?.. if that the case ? The record company are wicked..

I believe Greensleeves folded when the Scientist (Hopeton Browne) claim to royalties (from one of the Grand Theft Auto games) went to court.
Greensleeves claim was that Junjo sold them the rights and scientist was an engineer for hire on them recordings ( Junjo had passed away when this case came to courts).
King Jammy’s had to testify is this case. I don’t remember all the details (I might be wrong) but I remember hearing about at the time.
Another story I remember reading was Yami Bolo came to Greensleeves to collect his royalties for “Ransom” and “Jah made them All” only to find the royalties were signed off to Augustus Pablo without his knowledge. (Again I might be wrong, it was a long time ago that I read this, I read it maybe in Ray Hurford Small Axe magazines)

I think all the records companies are Rip off when it comes to artists who don’t know there rights??? And who can’t read and understand things in a contract. ?????
