📚 Description: We unboxed the Trans Pink Michiya Haruhata Stratocaster a few months back and set up a challenge on the video to get 2k likes for a full review and demo and then I would purchase the blue and red one for a review. Today is the day I make good on that promise! Michiya Haruhata was the first Japanese endorsed artist by Fender - so that tells you he is good! He has many musical endeavors that you can check out! Most famously is the band TUBE that he has been an active member in since the 80s! I would strongly suggest checking out the song "Straight to My Heart"

I think that the reason that they give the Volume for the Middle Pickup is so when you turn off the Middle Pickup while in the in-Between tones you can actually get the Single Coil tones for the respective Humbuckers without having a Push/Pull Pot for each (HSH setups are usually wired so when you use the In-Between tones, the Humbuckers engage their Coil-Split). Try it
@@alpha34098 nope, if you turn that off - it cuts all sound to the guitar in combo positions
@@Trog What a bummer, Why Fender decided to put a Volume just for the Middle Pickup if it would work like a Master Volume if you turn the pickup off. Now if you want single coil tones (and add a even more complete versatility to a very versatile guitar) for the Humbuckers, you'll be forced to re-wire the entire thing to add the Push/Pulls or a pair of Switches. As i would say in Spanish "Ganas de amargarle la vida a uno sin necesidad"
I Still want that ALLLLLLLLL WHITE FENDER TELECASTER JAPAN.
When you get a million subscribers it would be cool to do a special guitar or two and I would make my vote for Ohmura's ESP Snapper custom - they retailed for 13k but it's appointed extremely well and pretty unique as far as your standard strat-like guitars go.
The new Japan exclusive signatures are so cool
The miyavi one is also twisted ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Gotoh are good trems. I'd say Gotoh, Schaller, Ibanez Edge/LoProEdge, and original Floyd Rose are rock solid
Gotoh teems are awesome
I’ve got a gotoh trem put on my Jackson dinky, it’s sweet for the 120$ price
Heard fu-tone has one of the best Floyd rose too
Gotoh just makes awesome hardware all around
Gotoh has different grades of stuff, so make sure you get some of their higher end stuff. The low end stuff are things you see already installed on many guitars stock.
I believe gotoh make the Ibanez trems don't they?
That is one of the most awesome strats I've ever seen and I almost never see one with a reverse headstock and if I do it's usually someone playing a lefty strat right handed.
I see a lot of Japanese fenders in store here in Australia, all very cool and well built, far superior than the Mexican made.
Same here in NZ, one of the benefits of living out in the Asia-Pacific I guess!
@@rianrox190 yea I lived in Christchurch for 15 years, beautiful city 👍
You guys can go to guitar stores right now?
@@InkaProductionsTV I'm in Queensland, one of the only states not in lockdown, due to no rising cases of covid, at the moment it's "no vaccine jab no entry" so yea I've brought two guitars in the last month 👍
Traditionals, Hybrids and Aerodynes are sold here in Malaysia too!
Oh Jesus Christ I was scared it was half red half blue, I literally yelled
That's exactly why I clicked on the notification lol. had it been I could have considered importing one as it would be incredibly unique
I really wanted it to be half red half blue.
I respect for you focusing on guitarists from outside of America. I'm guessing you're a fan of Japanese culture and media.
I live in Korea and wish guitar players would become more popular.
Crash is one of my favorite metal bands. Their first album, Endless Supply of Pain, is so good, i've had it imported twice. Always from Japan. lol.
I would have reviewed the red guitar. Everybody has seen a top-loaded Strat but not a back-routed, side-mounted jack Strat. I think I would have liked the necks swapped, though. Maple would have matched better with that "Caribbean Blue", bringing the whole beach theme together like sand meating water. The darker fretboard would have given the red finish a more edgy vibe. Also not a fan of locking trems.
I thought he did review the red one?
Wow man, way to nit-pick, but your absolutely correct
Speaking of weird strats, I recently got myself one of those Hello Kitty Squiers with the single double-coil pickup, only someone had replaced the pickup with a Seymour Duncan Invader. Its truly brilliant
I'm doing this shit!
That reverse 70s headstock is really awesome. I actually really enjoyed the tones on this guitar as well.
I really enjoyed the section of B roll with the voice over at the end. Reminds me of being at home sick as a kid and watching daytime shopping TV in the best possible way.
Hell yeah Fender Friday
I’m all about the maple fretboard. Tuning a Floyd just requires patience. You need to balance the tension between the strings and the springs. You keep tuning each string to pitch until the all are dead on. Then it stays in tune like a champ!
Beautiful! Thanks for introducing me to this strat variant
Love the Blue quilt top, especially the reverse 70s headstock!!!Very cool!👍🤘
Austin try listening to Steve Morse back in the day of steve morse and the dixie dregs etc.
That shit will blow too many minds...people would rather listen to shit because FM radio said it was good...
Freaked me out, both Colors are Fine and the Guitars could come live with me for a while. 🙄😆😅😂🤣👍🎸🧨
Thats a good thumbnail I really thought that was one guitar 😆
Excellent review! Love the strats! Never seen them before and the Jack on the side is AWESOME!
DP193 is the Air Norton, it's a great bridge pickup, got one in my Gibson LPJ. The Fred is a DP153. Love the video, they both look fantastic!
The Air Norton is an incredible p/u, have it on the neck of a custom-built Tele, but never realized it had such a high resistance value. Seems to sound more mellow in my set-up.
The pickups have some serious bite! With you on the Floyd. That said, it’d be cool if they made half with Floyd’s, and half with standard bridges.
Love that big 70'S headstock. Works well upsidedown 🎸
I've said this before, the skunk stripe is not determined by the fretboard choice. Its mostly an aesthetic choice. I have a Nashville telecaster, rosewood fretboard and still has a skunk stripe on back. Ive also seen maple fretboards not have the stripe. The same way you glue a rosewood fretboard onto a maple neck, you can match with a maple fretboard onto a maple neck and not have a stripe. Modern guitar building is easier now so the stripe is merely a cosmetic choice by Fender now. I personally only buy Fenders with the stripe because to me its Fender charm.
Sometimes they have to do it because they don't use a separate fretboard and it's just 1 chunk of maple.
@@KazeAkiyama yep, it's unusual for Fender to do a maple cap fretboard these days, so maple necks on a Fender will almost always have a skunk stripe as it's a 1 piece neck.
Yes but on rosewood fretboards they do still do skunk stripes too, just saying its not tied to anything specifically. And occasionally you do still find maple capped fretboards, not as common anymore
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
I respect the consistency
Oah yeah you win WOOHOO yeah baby the wallmart aword for the first comment you are amazing 🍪
@@rondobondo6600 Hey there RONDO
The distortion tones are absolute DOPE Awesome. Way to jam on that! Block the trem / tune it / drop the block, and bring it back in tune with a scewdriver via the claw Trogley.
I really love the double locking trem with the reverse headstock. They must have made a special neck for this signature guitar because I have a mim hss floyd rose strat and the nut sits on top of the truss rod and making it very hard to adjust it
Wow wasn't expecting this...This is the best sounding most versatile stratocaster I've ever heard.... just wow!
Great craftsmanship and the parts look so much better designed and quality.
Keep the Strat content coming!
Loved that you've gave it a try on Straight To My Heart making it a proper sound review. Getting his tone right is tough isn't it?
Slam back a blacktooth grin for the Dimebag on his birthday!
🤘🤘
I met Dimebag in 1997. My punk rock band played his club, The Tattoo Bar in Fort worth Texas. He was a down to earth guy. R.I.P Dime.
@@unclefoiley819 Curse Dime. He made a good whiskey cocktail out of Seagrams 7 and Crown Royal with Coke. I used the coke out of the glass bottle. Cause it has cane sugar instead of that corn syrup. I went through two half bottles of whiskey in one night. I still like Dime though. Duh.
That top + color combo is just WOW
I put together a super Strat with Allparts neck and body that used a Gotoh Floyd. It had a nice smooth feel etc. So good that I consider it an upgrade compared to many, especially the Floyd Rose Special or the licenced versions etc.
One of the nicest sound and good looking strat I've ever seen.
Nice SRV riff, awesome Austin.
one of my favorite guitarsts growing up!!!
Those are some nice Charvels.....oh wait
Charvels wouldn't have as interesting pickup selection.
LOVE the reverse big CBS style headstocks! 😎
Japanese "pop" music is so much better than the stuff we have over hear. Crazy Jazz chord progressions, beautiful lyrics, some blistering guitar parts and some sick bass lines!!! Hahaha I wish I could read Kanji so I could find more!!!
Great video man!!! If it wasn’t that expensive I’ll buy one too! I’m huge fan of Michiya Haruata and his band Tube , unfortunately they’re not well known outside Japan or Asia but they are a legendary band and michiya is one of the most famous guitarist in Japan !
These are beautiful guitars! I love Stratocasters with figured tops I’m modifying a squier strat now putting a quilted maple top. It’s going to be similar too pink one I’m doing a black to pink burst HH set up. I’m keeping the same strat lay out with tone, tone, volume, on it with access cavity on back. I had drawn up a cavity rout out on back. But after seeing this I think I’m going to do a similar cavity rout. I’m keeping the 6 point bridge but have upgraded to graph tech saddles and a full size brass block. It’s a 5 mm top so after I’m done it will be close to fender thickness. Just trying to hone my luthier skills on a cheap guitar. Not really going to be cheap when it’s complete. Parts bill alone was $550 not including the hours I’ve spent modding it out. Hopefully it will look as good as these.
The custom shop blond one was amazing looking but the black one!!!!! Oh my lord!!!! 😍
The black with the iron cross...in 64 years I’ve never seen anything that cool...damn!
Fender Friday! My only guitar subscription on the Tube.
I thought that guitar snobs fancy MIJ Fenders especially.
I LOVE the reverse CBS Headstock!!!
Maybe blocking the trem in the position before removing the string will help a lot. For what i know, guitar with Floyd is not meant to be taken off all of the string at once, so we don't have to do re-set up.
By blocking the trem in position before removing all the string will have a lot
I have a blue flame HSS strat that is rather similar to the blue one you are showing, the only noticeable differences are the pickguard is black, the knobs are standard, and the blue color is a little bit darker. Plus the fret board is mahogany I believe.
Gimme one built like the red one, but with the finish and fretboard from the blue one and *chefs kiss*
This with Hendrix pickup layout is literally my dream strat.
The wiring is sick love it
Not the biggest fan of figured tops on Stratocasters, but that blue is gorgeous!!!
I love the Dimarzio Fred in the neck position! So responsive.
Dimarzio actually states that the Fred can be used in bridge or neck positions, and if you haven't tried it in the neck position yet, I highly recommend it! It just sings.
I love that red one!!!!
Dimarzio pickups all have interesting character to them, compared to like Seymour Duncans sure they can sound great but they're all pretty safe if you know what I mean.
I am very impressed with how well these pickups worked with the middle pickup too! 👌
I love the blue and the fact that the truss rod is inserted from the front no skunk stripe on the Rosewoods . As a tech, I hate removing that walnut strip to fix or replace truss rods on USA and imports; removing the fretboard is far easier and neater. Fender cheaps out, my Epiphone by Gibson bass 1987 has a Maple slab fingerboard on a maple neck it can be done. .
All three pickups sounded pretty righteous
So Wicked, I want one!
Just got an Indonesia Squire, it's pretty nice it's a 2000 but nothing has come close to my 2001 MIM so far...
Would love an MIJ by this builder, sounds great!!!
Love your channel by the way! 😎🤙
The blue ones are gorgeous!
Unique for sure!
Thank you veru much for the in depth review! Love it 🌟
The reverse neck actually makes more sense because no string tree is needed for the first 2 strings.. plus most string instruments including a piano are wired that way
I like the binding look ,I wonder what a tobacco burst would look like on that body
The blue one is Sick 🤘🤘
Can that tension bar help the supersonic tuning? Removing the trees and using this kind of bar right after the nut
I love fender japans soft v they also use it on the 56 reissue stratocasters .
that remind me yamaha pacific, similar looking finish.
I love the pink one
...OK, now THAT guitar sounds awesome....and has so much potential....I like the red one too......and as far as staying in tune, that is just a matter of figuring it out. Just like any other instrument, it has its own learning curve
The bridge pickup says 9.7 ohms on the meter, not 7.7 ohms.
Not a 70's style headstock. It's got the gold logo, so its a '66-'67 style headstock 😉
That red strat has a PRS Fiore vibe going on
This is literally my dream guitar lol. I am a huge michiya haruhata fan!
Both !
I played the Hendrix strat mim and it’s not comfortable but then I purchased this haruhata trans pink at the same price and it was the best decision of my life guitar well made comfortable more durable and the most important it sounds incredible
Ok trogly ,for 50 points what feature that differs between the red and the blue one did you miss?
that guitar look soo cool and that looks like a guitar for groove metal or something heavy
Great video Trogly I think the made in Japan Fenders are great GUITARS just look at the Ibanez RG Series made in Japan the quality is second to none
I despise side mount jacks. Sitting in a lot of positions the freaking jack is right on my leg or digging into couch whatever. Am building a Tele with a jack mounted in control plate. So there, heh heh!
If you just use a cable with a right-angle jack, its a non-issue. I'm a tele main and never had that issue.
One of these days I'm gonna build a Tele and just have the control plate be the switch, master vol then the output. Never really mess with the tone so it's not needed and I'm not really big on side jacks.
@@tinystar3010 I just had surgery and play awkwardly in bed and the angle still digs into leg. Annoying, so gone! Well on one guitar anyway. Strat and 335 fine though so nit picking a bit.
@@KazeAkiyama Hmm I use a no-load tone pot and rarely use it with tone so yeah, ditch it on this one. thanks!
This used to be my dream guitar style. Reverse headstock Floyd hss or hsh strat. Now I’d prefer a hardtail version or a hh telecaster/72 thinline tele.
i DON'T KNOW IF IT'S JUST THE REVERSE HEADSTOCK, BUT DO THE Japanese Strats have a bit shorter shape than the USA & MIM Fender headstock? Personally I prefer the less bulbous 60s style head just because that was the look I first fell in love with as a teenager. It seems odd now, but I paid no attention to Gibson guitars back then, maybe because everyone I knew played a Fender. But boy did I fall hard for the Flying V in the 1980s & I couldn't figure out why Fender didn't offer a "V" shaped guitar of some sort, they just looked like Rock &Roll!! That HSH Strat has some great tone options with that custom pickup + wiring configuration. That is a beautiful Strat!!!
Can you tell me what type of gotoh locking nut that the red one used?
Can the sound remain crunchy like fender in general?
"So our bridge pickup reads 7.78.."
It actually read 9.78 (see at 13:57 )
You don't have to take the pickguard off to adjust pickup height. :-) Nice.
Ash strats are also invariably awesome sounding.
well, since Japan it's probably technically Sen wood as opposed to actually ash. Honestly, I like Sen better - I have guitars made with US ash and with Japanese "ash" (Sen) and it may be luck of the draw but the Sen bodies produce a tighter more responsive and articulate play without losing any timbre or becoming icepicky.
the blue finish reminds me of Jason Becker's Carvin guitar
That red one is a fender i would buy
Beautiful Japan fenders.
I prefer the Red ax it looks like fire. The blue looks cool and mellow.
A beautiful guitar indeed, but my question is why add the veneer on the top? I think the ash wood without the veneer would look much better.
I always smile when u get to distortion..its what we wana hear..I know it's good to hear a dry signal. But you do well with distortion
No, Austin; You would've seen at least *one* other reversed 70's-style Fender headstock before! Unless you really don't know Jimi Hendrix! 😄 😉
Hey Trog! I've written this correction before but I gotta say again. Abalone and mother of pearl are the same thing! The authentic material is so named because it is sourced from an oyster shell, hence "the mother of a pearl!" Abalone is just another name for it.
The silver plastic fake pearl is known as pearloid.
So remember! It's mother of pearl/Abalone for the real stuff, and PEARLOID for the white plastic pearl!
They come from similar sources but abalone and mother of Pearl have significantly different looks
"Active" tonality you hear is the typical enhanced compression of most DiMarzio pickups. Of course most Actives have the same characteristic.
The Gotoh Floyd is so much better than the Original Floyd rose and Floyd Rose 1000. Fine tuners are angled away from your palm, saddles are rounded for ergonomics, japanese build quality, bridge posts lock, and better trem arm attachment. All this for just $110 or so if you buy it on your own. Suhr uses it over any other Floyd and it honestly baffles me why more manufacturers don't use it over the Korean made Floyd 1000. It's better than even the German made Floyd's.
Looks nice for a fender. Some hm strat vibes
Nice fiddle.
MIJs are the shiz! My favourite guitar I use is a MIJ ^0's Hybrid Tele. I love the build quality. Superb! a 4 ways switch is useful too. MIJs are at the very least as good as premium USA made models. (I think possibly a little better in many ways). MIJ is definitely top shelf.
Maybe it's my Japanese blood and national pride speaking, but I've never played a guitar nicer than my MIJ Mustang and my MIJ Eclipse. I've played guitars I like more, but those 2 guitars are truly works of art and I love them. Especially for the price, my dad bought the Eclipse brand new in 08 for £1300 and it rivals even the highest end of Gibsons.
Watching this video I thought it would be interesting to hear which bands you really enjoy if you didn't think it would draw the haters who only want you to listen to what they like out of the woodwork.
