Rules for my melee run
1) I can shoot guns in certain situations (Ex. Getting 2nd winds, applying slag, Moxxi weapon healing, objective requires shooting, and flying enemies)
2) I can use grenades.
3) If an enemy cannot be killed with melee, I can shoot. (Ex. Badassasaurus, enemy stuck out of bounds, etc)

The gameplay loop that Roid shields demand is one of the best mechanical loops I've ever had the pleasure to play. Melee Zer0 is so freaking well designed.
The one most important lesson I learned from you:

The one rule of going against Zer0; DON’T ever break his shield because you don’t know if he is melee build or not.
How do you kill him if you can't break his shield?

When I use the chain lightning to drop my shield so I get the roid damage, I have to use more than one grenade. How do you do it exactly?
@@general_sinister7070 have it be on level and get a grounded hide of terra or grounded melee shield
I have a OP3 Pun-chee with all maliwan and a OP3 Chain Lighting. It still doesn't break the shield all the way.

Joltz, I have watched your starter pistol episodes and I noticed it got pretty hard. My suggestion is to do a white only run through. It would be interesting because most people of borderlands skip over white guns, also you can show off your knowledge of gun parts.

last night i met these guys on Rings of Esylium and we all became good friends, and we all started a borderlands playthrough together. one of the best nights in my life
Not only was this entertaining, this series also helped me with my first melee zero play through, so thanks for being good
I remember when I saw this playthrough for the first time, it was son fun to watch, and here we are 3 years later watching it again:)
I would love to see a true randomizer TPS playthrough after this, granted its probably not as intense as BL2 but it would still be cool
Fun isn't something one considers when protecting the univers, but this *does* put a smile on my face!

i played melee since BL1 i love it. zero by all ways is my favorite character. bloodshed assassin was my first playthrough of BL2 also. glad i get to see someone else do it.
only real melee zero builds use the manly man shield.

It was to break my shield for the roid damage.

The amount of luck with that bladed Hornet. I decided to start a new game doing Melee Zero because of this series of videos. I spent over an hour farming Knuckle Dragger. Plenty of Hornets, but not any bladed ones.

I did this myself with both krieg and zer0, taking it a step further by excluding ALL shooting.
It was hell
Don't get me started with zer0 and BNK-3R.
To top everything off, I did melee only krieg a second time after my first one got corrupted, after over 3 days of total play time melee only krieg managed to be my first level 80 character.
If you want to do it yourself, the grind of the entire game will be tedious and exciting.

Weapon mod I recommend for this run:
The reaper
Replaces logans gun
%200 melee damage
%2 life steal
Slightly increases move speed
F*** all shooting stats and heavily increased swap duration (yes duration)
Can find it on Github cuz it's late at night and I'm too lazy to link a website.
And since it's lifesteal is so low it won't be op in late game, making you still use the regular weapons for melee while also making it difficult cuz of the swap speed
How to hell does he get such good drops and It took me a week to get one legendary
Did you farm bosses? Cos if it took you 2 days of farming you're extreeeemely unlucky depending on where you're farming

Considering legendaries are 1/10 drop rate, you clearly didnt farm or you are blind and missed them all

So here is a question. If you put it on read only and you take the reward and save and quit. Will the mission still be active?(I'm playing on console).
You cant put your save on read only on console, read only is only for pc
The "read only" alternative for console is dashboarding
It depends on if you refresh your save. I'd recommend checking K6's video on read only farming.

Edit: or is an old version because In the lastest update fearless and grim skills are swapped.
He's running the patch, but he may have disabled all the skill changes. Some parts of the game should stay the way they were intended to be.
@@liamhome1664 I think it's better to swap them because grim isn't great for melee zero builds because it ruins the roid Shields so I don't like it being in bloodshed skill tree . Just what I think
@@nightshade488 I agree it seems misplaced, but since Gearbox knew what they were doing some people think it belongs there. Certainly it helps sniper builds get meaningful investments on their way to Execute, and it's also very strong for early game melee Zer0.

D0n't Get My Dander Up was a 2013 Community Day skin, so it was added as a random world drop after the Community Day
Unfortunately, that makes it pretty damn rare to drop, since it's in the normal skin pool for loot
Your best bet would be just getting it through Gibbed unfortunately :-/

A while back I did attempt a melee only zero with some pretty crazy rules, for any of you who are wondering
1. Melee shield only
2. No level boosting at the start
3. No bladed weapons what so ever katana only
4. No grenades except for transfusions
5. Melee coms only
6. Only relics you can have are either captain blades (which makes it more survivability) no relics for a challenge or melee relics
7. Absolutely no guns at any point in the game
8. No bar
9. Enjoy a very interesting run

I did this after watching this series, and it was a lot of fun! Though I did have to bind melee to left click, I was getting serious finger agony from trying to play normally. Circlestrafing around guys and mashing melee was just too much, even with melee on Q (my normal button).
joltz for melee if youre not using any unique weapons, launchers would be the best. they somehow shortens your melee animation so you can do more attack in the same amount of time. Good work dude!
That isn't true. All weapons have the same melee speed. Pistols are ideal though since they have the fastest default swap speed.
please try it. im 100% sure launchers have the fastest animation while others are the same and slower

On my first melee zero build, I got the hornet, and the infinity pistol first try, got the bonus package when doing the cult following side quest, and took like 13 tries to get 2 fastballs, first was fire, no good on loaders, second explosive. And this all happened earlier today in a span of 3 hours, p.s. i got the fastballs on my maya
