"The Day Before You Came" is the saddest, most depressing and at the same time one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. A true masterpiece. Your interpretation is absolutely superb. Bravo!
You are totally right with what you've wrote, since the first time I heard this record it has been my all time favourite record because it's so Hauntingly Beautiful and a masterpiece.
Beautifully played. One of ABBA's best ever songs, but also bizarrely one of their least successful singles at the time reaching only 32 in the UK charts, but that was only because their popularity was waning and they were about to split up. I doubt people back then except lifelong fans like me thought this song would become so legendary and long lasting back in 1982! Abba would love your rendition.
It did even worse here in Australia (#48) and at age 17, I was dismayed. I thought at the time the B side, Cassandra, was a lost masterpiece. I hoped then that Benny and Björn would one day be recognised as some of the greatest composers ever and time has justified this view!
I’m glad to see someone dressed so beautifully at the piano. Beautiful dress and earrings! And you play the piano so beautifully. Very classy. Bravo! 👏 👍
What a beautiful performance of a beautiful song! I’d long suspected that the reason ABBA’s songs resonate so clearly is the underlying melancholy and this supports that.
I have listened to Benny's solo version from his "Piano" album and this really is virtually the same standard. I think your ABBA piano solos will do well for you Ulrika because people really want to listen to these songs played solo on a piano. Benny is reluctant at this moment in time to release more ABBA solo piano recordings. But your efforts are top draw and fill the gap for people who want to listen to such arrangements x Here's a challenge for you......Did you know ABBA released a soft reggae song called "Tropical Loveland?" Can you give it a go. There are no piano covers of this on RUclips....
This just goes to prove how well constructed ABBA songs are. You couldn’t do this with too much of today’s so called popular music. Well done Ulrika. Your playing is exquisite. Thank you for posting this and all your other videos.
You know I never really paid much attention to Benny's piano playing except Dancing Queen. I listened and watched the ladies sing and do their thing. I want to kindly thank you for sharing all these songs that Benny played but I ignored. I haven't ignored anything you've played Ulrika. You have certainly brought ABBA back to life and I'm so thankful for your extreme talent. You're a special person who I admire immensely. God bless you and keep you well because you have so much more music to share! This I know!!! 🎶🎵🎶
It was the first Weekend now in July, when i visited Stockholm. It was raining while sunshine. The tourist boat passed under the Järnvägbron Årstaviken when i listen this piano Version, near the tears of joy. A historic place with historc music. Your Version honors the original. And i'm shure it must have rained, the day when i came!
I love your interpretation of this song, it’s perfect, your piano playing is perfect. Beautiful rich minor and diminished keys of this classic song sounds so wonderful when played on the piano. The best version by far that I have heard.
Your performance is very subtle, I love Abba, few performers can really empathize with such beautiful and subtle songs. You did it. Thank you very much, greetings from Poland ☺
The most poignant melody from Benny Andersson’s ABBA, given new meaning in your lovely interpretation. I am in awe of your putting new meaning to some of the more noticeable melodies that have emerged from the Pop Culture. They are all proving an absolute delight
Outstanding pianistic cover of "The Day Before You Came" ! Thumbs up & thanks for this delightful musical & visual atmosphere... Keep it up with the great, elegant performances ! ;-)
Ulrika, in just one word (for now): outstanding! God, your version is so emotional, sad but yet filled with much love and hope. You succeeded in bringing all the ABBA atmosphere off the original song to every note of your piano. Congratulations again and again. By the way, I owe you a reply. News very soon :-)
Goodness - Well done Ulrika! You captured the whole essence v Abba on the piano by yourself-no mean feat at all! I would have never thought this song as an instrumental would give me Goosebumps, but it did- thanks to your amazing interpretation! Your wonderful playing made this Abba song come alive. Some people would call this number a boring and repetitious song and way too long!. Nevertheless you played the tricky chords with ease and captured the drama and feeling of the song perfectly. You are a star! Ulrika- TonyL from down under -Cheers💖💖💖💖
What your performance proves, is that the melody holds up strongly against the pop arrangement & production as heard on the single. It brings back a few memories; a trigger that goes along with the lyrics of the song, but in a different way. If you leave out the words of 'The Day Before...', there's a lot of melancholy left. Melancholy is a part of a lot of ABBA melodies. If you don't listen to the lyrics, but concentrate on the melodies (and the melodies only, ignoring arrangement and studio production too), quite a lot of ABBA songs appear to have a melancholic feel. That's quite a universal emotion and, to my humble opinion, a possible reason why so much people like ABBA music. They connect with it for that reason. As a matter of fact, you're listening to Swedish folk music, often being melancholic by itself. A Beautiful performance indeed, that's for sure. The piano, slighty out of tune, adds to the atmosphere. This is great... Release it on CD and i'll buy it instantly :o)
Although it's not a widely known song, it's a huge cult among ABBA fans... (perhaps the most cult one). But I've said to myself: it, probably, won't work out on the piano: A looping-structured song, without a refrain, with long lyrics and that ends in a kind of fade out vocalize.... Well, I was wrong... Absurd Goosebumps! Almost crying....Even your shadow on the wall was awesome!! Greetings from Brazil.
I love your playing Ulrika, but among the Abba pieces you have played, all of which are superb, this is really outstanding - just wonderfully evocative.
Congratulations Ulrika Madam for attempting this difficult song! You have played it beautifully. I have heard Benny Andersson Sir's piano cover for this song and your version is closer to his. At one place, you have added a certain piece which is increasing mysterious nature of the song at that point! For that I really admire you. But I want to say one thing. There is a deep sorrow in Benny Sir's piano version. Also, there is darkness in it which haunts our heart and we feel as if there will not b end to the sorrow or some questions will remain unanswered. The song ends in darkness. In your piano cover, a hope is seen as if after darkness there is a dawn! It's your interpretation and I respect it. But the question whether we should keep the deep sorrow and darkness as it is or we should add a hopeful note remains unanswerable in my mind for this song. Please do not take this in a negative way. I love your piano covers and I wish more and more success to you!
Wow! Such a beautiful rendition of The Day before you came, your piano skills are amazing, every key pulls at the heart strings, Benny would be very proud ❤ ♥ x

Never stop crying listening to this...likes the First Time I Heard It. A masterpiece. God bless you ABBA.
@Remy_GrationSurely it is.

Even without words, this song is a masterpiece.
I’m glad to see someone dressed so beautifully at the piano. Beautiful dress and earrings! And you play the piano so beautifully. Very classy. Bravo! 👏 👍
High-class Music deserves nothing less than equal Class during performance
What a beautiful performance of a beautiful song! I’d long suspected that the reason ABBA’s songs resonate so clearly is the underlying melancholy and this supports that.
My favorite Abba’s song! You made a wonderful masterpiece😱😱
when I listen to this I see Agnetha's face again and feel her pain again - it is so very moving, thank you for sharing!
The playing of this haunting beautiful Abba song by this beautiful Lady is beyond description

Would like to request you, to look at another abba song, The Way Old Friends. A happy christmas & new year to you, Ulrica!
I have no words to describe the way I'm feeling right now. This is a beautiful cover. Well done!

Everything is so perfect on this video that I don't even know where to start.
Beautiful...beautiful...those were the days.
So tender, soft, yet still emotional performance of one of the greatest ABBA's hits! Thank you, Ulrika! 😊
I love that song you played it beautifully here ..
Melancholic and fantastic at the same time!! 😍
This is a beautiful rendition of one of their best. Thanks from Australia!
Such a sweet, gently played performance - I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had never heard the tune before. Thank-you.
I love your interpretation of this song, it’s perfect, your piano playing is perfect. Beautiful rich minor and diminished keys of this classic song sounds so wonderful when played on the piano. The best version by far that I have heard.
Divine. My favourite of all my favourite ABBA songs, possibly!
Que coisa mais linda. Emocionado aqui do Brasil.

I’m a abba lover and love music in this most beautiful form
Man , they were doing some fascinating stuff in the last throws . You have served Benny proud Ulrika , this is gorgeous .
You play beautifully. Thank you for this exquisite rendition of my favorite ABBA song.
This is talent. Very rare. By the way, I think this is one of the saddest songs ever ... sad and beautiful
Actually, while the tonality and melody might sound 'sad' the lyrics are about the prospect of a happy future with a newly found lover.
Grazie immensa Ulrica ❤
A masterly performance of a masterpiece by ABBA
Its a song , a melody , of mystery that creates endless discussion.
This gave me the goosebumps. Such a beautiful haunting melody and played so sensitively. Bravo Maestro:)
Amazing....., cover

Beautiful!!! Abba song's in amazing interpretation!
An almost forgotten Abba song, beautifully played.
I felt for both characters in this story. She is attracted to a man on a train. He has his life turned upside-down by a talented beautiful woman.
perfect interpretation. As always you are impeccable. Thank you.
The piano gives me goose bumps at the beginning😩
A lovey piece that so suits being played on the piano. Stunning playing again Ulrika 👏🏼.

Felicidades.
Bravo. It reminded me of Nocturnes. Beautifully melancholic.
You are the queen of the piano in my opinion. Listening watching you play is always an absolute delight.

Altro successo Abba trasformato in sonata per piano. Grazie Ulrica.
My favorite Abba’s song! You made a wonderful masterpiece (from São Paulo - Brazil)
Wow! Such a beautiful rendition of The Day before you came, your piano skills are amazing, every key pulls at the heart strings, Benny would be very proud ❤ ♥ x
Beautiful version -- thank you! 🤩
Congratulations! Your interpretation seems to me deeper, better than that of Benny in the album Piano, in you go up more in the treble, in particular.
LINDA PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!
With four trilling's of the keys ,we are ready for one of the most haunting and soulful melodies in modern piano.
That was just Beautiful....Thank you for sharing your passion.
