Your personal details on this dress really make it shine. I love how excited you get about each project. It really makes me smile. THAT is the joy of sewing!
Totally timeless, gorgeous and stylish!!!!! All of the fabrics you have chosen are going to make perfect shirt dresses and I would make and wear all of them too. I agree with you the little details, topstitching and buttons just make it fantastic. xxxx
Hi Karina, have you gotten your color plates done? Red is just amazing on you! Close up on the camera your face just glows in that red blouse! Beautiful!💜 Well done! I'm sure all that top stitching in a contrast color wasn't easy. When I see patterns on Love Notions I don't always say "Yes! I've got to make that!" But then you make it and they look SO DIFFERENT and lovely. 🤔.
I think they’ve always been sort of in. Little changes in style but the concept remains. Maybe you can try some on in the shops to see if you like them on you first. I do that with new styles I’d like to try.
Could you save fabric by making that self belt go through an interior waist casing cut out of a different fabric (as you do from time to time with other pattern pieces)? Loved the dresses, etc. Your enthusiasm is always contagious and you are just adorable. 💚💚💚
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Oh that would be less fussy than my idea. No need to sort the waist gathers when you pull the belt ... easy to get in and out of. What a clever idea!
Thank you so much 😊. The name of the channel came easily at first but the message “limitless sewing” came to me much later after some soul searching to really define the vision of the channel.
Karina, Your dress is a beautiful blue color & I really like the fabric. It looks so good on you!!! I love all your details. You have wonderful ideas, I look forward to seeing them all. Thanks so much. Take care and God Bless.
I was just on your blog yesterday looking up your versions and ended up purchasing this pattern:) I’m hoping to get at it maybe next week so I can make a similar shirt dress before the baby comes. I love yours! I’m sure I’ll be referring to your blog post on this particular make:)
Karina, you always put a lot of thought and work into your pattern changes and I love it! I trust your guidance so much with the Love Notions patterns. Thank you!
Lovely dress. The word that came into my mind to describe your rust-coloured fabric was terracotta (it's been adopted into English). I used to have a fit and flare shirtdress in just that colour and wore it till it fell apart. It was very versatile and wearable. Interesting reflection on the importance of detail when working with solids. I learn something from all your videos.
Thank you so much 😊. After thinking about solids myself, I’ve convinced myself that I’ll be making more this year. I say it all the time and hope I can do it.
I am also going down the "rabbit hole" of extending the Melody Dolman to make a dress and to use the wide casing to insert a belt. I think that is a great idea, Karina. Your collar instructions work a treat too. Buttonholes - agh, they have defeated me so I followed your idea of simply sewing the buttons on through all the layers - perfect:-) xx
Watching this four years later. I am in the middle of making my first Melody Dolman in a tropical print rayon, to make a “Hawaiian shirt”. I love camp shirts, and got this pattern because it looked like one. I prefer straight across hems, and next time will make one that way. I’m also thinking of making a shirt dress using Melody, but ending the shirt part at the waist and attaching a flared or A-line skirt. I love your channel because I learn so much and you have so many wonderful ideas for style details and fabric combinations.
Very beautiful shirtdress, Karina. The tabs on the sleeves are so well-made. Did you use a stitch-in-the-ditch foot for your topstitching? It is perfect!! Can’t wait to see the dress you make from the green fabric!! You are ultra-talented and my favorite professional sewer!!!💖🧵👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It’s actually a bind hem foot of sorts. I move the needle to the left and it creates discharge a neat finish. In the description box, there’s a link to a page with all the presser feet I use :)
Your topstitching's extraordinary. All the versions are cute, but I really like the version that your mom adopted We also call that brick color terra cotta in the U.S. Not always, but it's not uncommon.
I love the alterations! I own the pattern already. I can't wait to make it the way you did. I wanted to know if it's possible for you to show how to draft the dark blue denim dress at 5:51 ? If you're not able to make a video of how to draft that dress, I understand.
Hi Thaina. I can actually draft anything I’d like. I don’t really need patterns. But, whenever I have a self drafted garment featured in a video, very very few people want to watch it and the cost of resources is high for the video not to even recuperate the cost involved through the views. I have proven this time and time again. Subscribers are interested in patterns and that is what I am doing on the channel. The dark denim dress would be easy to make from a well fitting bodice with a button placket and adding on a rectangle gathered skirt. I hope you understand.
Stunning! I have been looking at spring dresses and was thinking I wanted a jean shirt dress. I already have this pattern and it is one of my favorites I am going to go read that blog post and make one of my own. I love the way you styled it too, keep the hacks coming!
Oh I absolutely despise side seam pockets if there’s no waist seam to anchor them into 🤓. I have pretty strong feelings against pockets 😂. That’s what’s great about sewing, we can do what we prefer :)
I love how you've modified the pattern into a shirtdress! Thanks for pointing out that they're an excellent use of solid-colored fabrics; so much of my stash is prints, because 'eye-candy', right? If you're familiar with True Bias patterns, her Southport dress has a marvelous method for creating that casing between the bodice and skirt; I've made a bunch of different dresses using her method - check it out!

Great hack for the Melody Dolman ... looks very wearable.
Thank you 😊
Yes we would call it terracotta in English. Amazing dress. Does the viscose linen crease very much. Thank you once again. Great video. 😀
I think it creases a tad less but it still creases :)
Beautiful dress Go You more fabric magic xxx
Hi Karina!! Wonderful vlog..
💜💜🧵🧵
Thank you so much 😊

Really beautiful as always❤❤
Always enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much 😊
Your mom looks wonderful in that top~~ Looks "MADE" for her :) She is beautiful!
Yup she was obsessed as soon as she saw it in my closet. She wears it all the time.
Such beautiful work! Thank you for sharing. :)
You’re very welcome 😊
Thus dress really looks good on you!! And the olive green will be too! Excellent hack!!
Can’t wait to make the green one! Excited much.

It’s harder to reach for the solids and this is a way to motivate myself 😁
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I Completely understand as I too adore colours and patterns.
I like the top stitching. Good staple piece for the wardrobe. Like the hack.
Top stitching is super fun and makes the seams pop. Love doing it 😆

Nice work. I haven't been a fan of shirt dresses and have never owned one. Shirts and shirt dresses are so in so maybe I need to have a go.

Totally :)
I was thinking of using an elastic and having a portion of the main fabric on the extremes to come out for the front bow too.

You are really living up to the name of your channel..Limitless sewing Congrats on the dress and the accents you put on it!

Lovely dress , you are always so amazing ❤️
Thank you so much for your kindness 🤗
It's a nice dress, I love the button and the drape of the fabric really brings out the design. Well done as always!
Thank you so much 😊. This one took a bit longer but was very worth it.
💖So inspiring. That casing string would lookg amazing. 💖
I know and I was gutted to not be able to do that with this one, but it’ll happen.

I found the fabric here and loved it at first sight. I’m so happy with the dress. Thanks for watching 😁

It’s a great base pattern to add details to. You’ll love it. All the best with the new baby!
I love that you did it in a dress!! As soon as I saw the email that it was on sale I thought it would be a great dress for my daughter!!
Thank you so much 😊. I couldn’t help myself but make it a dress. I think these are great on all ages :)
Your ideas are so creative! I love the way your mind works.
Absolutely love how you change up the patterns so beautifully! 😊
Karina, you always put a lot of thought and work into your pattern changes and I love it! I trust your guidance so much with the Love Notions patterns. Thank you!
This is one of my favorite makes. I'm rewatching your video. I would love to see how you make the casing!
I love this too. A memorable dress!!
You do such excellent and beautiful work! I love your details and explanations. It fits you so nicely!
Thank you so much 😊. I try to do my very best with every project I make.
Gorgeous. I love the look of shirtdresses but I have never owned one.
They are a tad more work to sew but totally worth it, in my opinion 😁

Thank you so much 😊. These projects are the best for me.

This dress is wonderful! You've done so much with this pattern. Your ideas are just amazing!

I love the Melody Dolman, and I love your Melody dress. Definitely putting this on my list!
Thank you so much 😊. This is a great pattern and I’ve enjoyed it every single time.
That turned out fabulous!
I'm almost finished with my first Melody blouse.
Now to go & read your blog post!

I’m glad terra-cotta is known. It’s the same color as mud here! First time I’ve ever liked mud 😄

I’m so glad you liked it. I’d dreamed of this blue/tan combination for ages.
You are amazing…love all your work and hacks.
I love your dress so much! How do you manage such neat top stitching?
Top stitching turns out neat with a presser foot like a blind hem foot or an edge stitch :)
Fabulous. I love it, you are very clever.
Only thing I would change is inseam side pockets instead of the four pockets on the front. Wonderful idea and use of a camp style shirt pattern.

I never link to my fabric because I buy all my fabric locally and in person in Brazil.
