  • Hi guys, while tidying up I found several spark plugs for cars and I remembered a method that is always useful for increasing the thickness of a sheet metal, when the thickness does not allow making threads.
There are actually several methods, this is simply the most economical and versatile for hobby enthusiasts!
I hope you enjoyed the video, subscribe to the channel and like!
    THANK YOU

Great idea for thin materials. What I didn’t get from the video were the sizes. I am assuming that the diameter of the ceramic portion of the spark plug is the tap size for the bolt to be used. But what drill size did you use prior to the spark plug?
    Thanks for the idea.

Hello, thank you... To make a good hole with this method, you need to drill first with a smaller tip!
I'll give you an example, if you want to drill 6 mm with the spark plug, it is advisable to drill with a 3-4 mm bit, if you want to drill 12 mm, a 7 mm bit is enough.

As soon as I saw what you were doing, I thought “aha, an alternative to Riv-Nuts!”

Riv nuts have the advantage of being practical and fast... In the video I showed an alternative that I use when it is not possible to use other techniques!

@@newtech5042 Yeah, for sure not as practical as Riv-Nuts, but I’m fascinated by all this friction-working stuff in a home shop. I’d always just thought of it as an extreme industrial process, but now I see it’s possible to use on a small scale as well 👍

Should have shown the same material with various wall thicknesses l! It might be a good idea, however, I'll stick with Riv Nuts.... Takes a lot less time!
