I once showed my dad (who is more in classic metal like Iron Maiden) Parkway Drive live show and he genuinely enjoyed it and said that he now understands that growling can be cool
I know this video is about Phil, but I will never not be amazed by the command Andy has of his voice. Even just those little moments of demonstration and differentiation are incredible.
I thought that was horrible, but i also thought half of those on that show were bad when it came out. Really, though, im just not a fan of their style/sound.
My favorite description of that low, it's from Austin Dickey and Jared Dines "He just proceeds to turn into a toilet." Just unreal. oh shit, Andy said it also LOL, neat.
Phil has always been an icon for me and this performance was one that inspired me to start getting serious about vocals. He is a literal beast and now him and Will among others just keep raising the line of how insane vocals can be and keep me wanting to get better and better and even create my own styles! Metal vocals are so unique and is genuienly one of the coolest communities out there and im so glad to be apart of it, especially seeing people react to one of the most inspiring/insane clips ever. :D
You guys should check Danny Worsnop's take on The Price Of Beauty too! He has some interesting ultra lows in there which came out of nowhere (I don't remember him ever doing anything like that anywhere else, super impressive, he almost went full Phil Bozeman) Also Anthony Notarmaso from After The Burial killed it too on Smoke
I can watch "Whitechapel" over and over and over again live. It NEVER leaves me disappointed and Phils growl is one of a kind and his singing voice is phenomenal also!
Chris you have to get Phil to feature on one of your videos. That dude has done so much for the genre and extreme vocals in general. Whitechapel's catalog is so deep with lots of different colors in terms of musicality and texture
Great stumble on this video. Andy, you’re fucking awesome! Great to see you “walking” Chris through this one. Amazing performance and great video guys.
Love the chemistry between you two! ⚡️ 🔥 Takes me to my happy place every time. Fantastic teaching collab. Chris hearing every tiny little detail and Andy demonstrating and both deconstructing and demystifying how it’s done. 🙌
Watching this while eating on my lunch break, just anticipating that moment, THAT moment, and then you guys pause right before it again lol. Phil is such a legend man
So happy to see this collab. If I hadn't stumbled upon Chris years ago I wouldn't know how to sing now, and Andy is one of my vocal & overall musical inspirations so this is gold
I remember first time watching this... even now, I literally burst out laughing man... it's fking crazy :))) and Andy is the best one to have by your side when you're reacting to literally any type of vocal engagement. Thank you for putting this out here!
I remember when that mitch memorial show came out and heard phil, it made me want to go even deeper into vocals! absolutely phenomenal vocalist. I have learned so much from phil
I absolutely love how analyzing metal vocalists has grown so much more as of the past couple years. Phil has been one of my favorite metal vocalists for so many years. I would highly recommend some actual White Chapel songs now.
I would love to see you guys break this video down with David Benitez of Renesans and Extreme Vocal Institute or even the lead singer of Tallah. Both are very knowledgeable and skilled. Also, Phil Bozeman is one of the GOATs, absolutely one of my all time favorites. Phenomenal vocalist. Favorite for false chord screams
Oh, Andy most underrated vocalist! Although I don’t really like his music, and more his covers of my favorite songs. But his vocal skills and range are incredible
I watched an OLD video of Phil talking about his "toilet bowl" sound, pretty sure it was his own video he posted, either a Q&A or vocal tips, and I'm pretty sure he still uses his false chord low and then curls his tongue to the back of his top teeth, and he called it the toilet bowl sound himself that he could modulate and such. I learned a lot from him, exclusively learning their old songs and some of his youtube videos he posted back in the day.
i always thought that the super low section was being done with a very well trained and compressed low inhaled scream, as it sounds as if he lacks some of the consonant modulation that is so apparent on inhales. i may be completely wrong but it makes sense that the low sound is created by inhaled, which creates a high frequence low pitch scream and doesn't have that much bass
Andy, it’s ALWAYS! Important for tongue placement, as well as the shapes you make with your throat with those low gutterals. The low exhale combined with the pig squeal is the oldest vocal technique in deathcore. It’s a low false chord wth your tongue to the roof of your mouth while sustaining the low gutteral. Try it out!
I was fortunate to get to tour with WC when they were coming up. I've never been a big fan of technique-screaming because I love when vocalists actually holler. It's how I do it. I assure you this, Phil is one of my top favorite metal vocalists because he is loud as fuck. I remember standing side stage many nights, and I could hear his acoustic voice past two full stacks. He has an incredibly powerful voice, and you can hear it at 9:51. Dude is top shelf.
You should check out Whitechapel's most recent work. Whitechapel's last 2 albums are damn masterpieces. Songs like "When a Demon Defiles a Witch", "I Will Find You", "Lost Boy" and "We Are One" prove why he is one of the best in the business.
If you enjoyed the moments where phils voice was coming through in those highs, like yelling, you should check out the devil wears Prada. Mikes vocals are pretty much like that all the time, yet somehow he has a pretty unique sound that I think you would like. Anything from the zombie ep to now. Before that he was kind of* following the same vocal trends as all the other popular bands of the time but I think he’s since found and nailed his own sound.
If you wanna make more videos about this style of singing DIFFERENT SENSE by DIR EN GREY is a good song to analyze because it has everything you showed here and more.
My lord you should check out daxx riggs screams in the band acid bath. There is really none like it anywhere. Even though i think hes doing it "wrong" in the vocal world, technique wise. The sheer brutishness amd volume coming out of that little man is absolutely wild and entrancing
At the around the 11 minute mark they are trying to figure out the deep growl. You pull your chin back and down and roll your tongue on all sides and go light and it will roll out with ease. I havent been in a band in years but this is death metal 101.
Andy's FULL Singing & Screaming Course is out NOW! (Bundles and special pricing available until September 1st) www.mymusicalvoice.com/p/formula-andy-cizek?coupon_code=ANDYULTIMATE&product_id=5759318
Probably the greatest all around vocalist alive today. Could have replaced Chester.
Can ya react to Mitch Lucker voice and compare to phil voice to see the difference between the 2? We all loved and miss mitch so much RIP man.
This probably feels like showing your dad your favourite band or performance and seeing him genuinely enjoy it, best feeling in the world
I once showed my dad (who is more in classic metal like Iron Maiden) Parkway Drive live show and he genuinely enjoyed it and said that he now understands that growling can be cool
My dad got me into rock, I got him into metal, and now we just went to an Archspire, Aborted, Carcosa, and Alluvial concert.
Sick! I went to the Toronto date, such a great night@@bolillo5013
Damn, wish my dad reacted like this.
@@inhertombbythesoundingsea yeah bro I know
Glad to see I'm not the only one still obsessed with this performance after all.
Of course, you're not the only one!
Dude this performance is HISTORICAL
Phillybo immortalized himself with this performance
I go back to the video probably three or four times a month. It’s insane how good Phil Bozeman’s live vocals are.
I will always be obsessed. Phil is my favorite 🤘🏻
It gets crazier when you know that he was sick and on 2hrs of sleep when he did that show.
woah, haven`t heard about it, tnx bro. Phil is the UNIT
I remember hearing the same about David Draiman when he performed his Sound of Silence cover on Conan.
Sick indeed
Saw whitechapel when Phil was so sick he could barely stand and he sounded flawless. Just unreal
@@WrappedBaggagethat means he was…. oh ah ah ah ah!!! Down with the sickness!!!!111
I know this video is about Phil, but I will never not be amazed by the command Andy has of his voice. Even just those little moments of demonstration and differentiation are incredible.
Agreed!!
I was pretty surprised!
Andy is a certified S-tier vocalist, both his harsh and clean vocals. And I will die on that hill. He is up there with the elites.
The Danny Worsnop price of beauty was insane too. Don't sleep on his highs in that show
agreed, homie went full mariah carey in that performance.
Don't forget about his raspy clean vocal with asking alexandria😲
Phil's was obviously iconic, but tbh Danny's performance is my favorite from that show
Dude I didn’t watch Danny’s performance until years after the memorial show, and it blew me tf away. Dude was at the top of his game 😤
I thought that was horrible, but i also thought half of those on that show were bad when it came out. Really, though, im just not a fan of their style/sound.
Andy’s such a great vocalist glad to finally see this collab!
The fact that people still study this performance and love it so much is just a testament to how talented Phil is
Love how Andy just smiles knowing Phil is about to switch into his lows 😂
My favorite description of that low, it's from Austin Dickey and Jared Dines "He just proceeds to turn into a toilet." Just unreal.
oh shit, Andy said it also LOL, neat.
What video of theirs was this 😂
some of my favorite pastimes on youtube are watching people react to phil bozeman singing unanswered for the first time
Andy does such a great job breaking down and demonstrating all the various screaming techniques man
Super interesting to have someone like Andy who can dissect each part and explain the technique. Very educational 🤘
Phil has always been an icon for me and this performance was one that inspired me to start getting serious about vocals. Yeah his lows on that performance were exclusive. Even his highs were solid. He went all out 😭
Danny went GOD mode on that performance
Their chemistry...
I love how Chris is engaged on his words and looks so stoked.
Beat teachers ever working side by side...
Love you both ❤😊❤
I can watch "Whitechapel" over and over and over again live. It NEVER leaves me disappointed and Phils growl is one of a kind and his singing voice is phenomenal also!

10000% if Mitch was still here, he would so put a camera down his throat. RIP Mitch. I can't wait for Phil to get the camera!
So happy to see this collab. If I hadn't stumbled upon Chris years ago I wouldn't know how to sing now, and Andy is one of my vocal & overall musical inspirations so this is gold
Goddamn Andy is in a league of his own. You sir are a fuckin vocal demon
Gosh Phil is phenomenal! Such a classic show worthy of study for sure!
This performance is just absolutely fantastic, one of the best ever. ❤❤❤
Ah, I remember Andy from so long ago! First time discovered him with that audition for Sumerian Records.
This is definitely one of my favorite Bozeman performances
I love that this is still relevant to this day and hope it continues to be, what a performance!
Ooo that sound at 9:00... i dont think ive ever heard him do something like that. I dig it!
His posture and mannerisms on stage is awesome
One of the greatest performances of all time, what a fitting ode to Mitch. RIP Mitch Lucker
I remember first time watching this... even now, I literally burst out laughing man... it's fking crazy :))) and Andy is the best one to have by your side when you're reacting to literally any type of vocal engagement. Thank you for putting this out here!
Did not expect this video whatsoever, but I'm all here for it!
Phil and Adam from Oceano will forever be my favorite deathcore vocalist plus Joe from fit for an autopsy.
Andy's knowledge and insight is SOOOOOOO good. Top tier vocalist in any genre
Andy has some seriously good vocals
There were so many great performances during their show. Jonny Davy was insane as well, def one of my favourite vocalists!
Here to say I love Andy and this is amazing content
Still the craziest live vocal performance I’ve heard. Phil is insane
Phil's performance on this is absolutely beast. Great reaction. RIP Mitch.
I'll never forget getting to see them live at Warp Tour. All the bands were phenomenal 🙌🧡
More of these with abdy please ty
More coming!!
One of my favourite performances ever, all to remember mitch
Thank you, Chris and Andy!
It was quite educational and fun!
Nice reaction video, Ya'll just talked and broke it down without trying to be too hype. Very knowledgeable and genuine
I love that something in this genre being called an absolute toilet bowl and disgusting are some of the highest compliments.
can't wait for your guys' course!!
dude andy is a real one
Andy is such a lovely guy and awesome vocalist.
I remember when that mitch memorial show came out and heard phil, it made me want to go even deeper into vocals! absolutely phenomenal vocalist. I have learned so much from phil

andy has a spot on analysis at 10:30-10:40 - it is most likely a mix of these techniques imo.
Been wanting a Bozeman breakdown for a while! Be nice to see one with his cleans too
I would love to see you guys break this video down with David Benitez of Renesans and Extreme Vocal Institute or even the lead singer of Tallah. Both are very knowledgeable and skilled. It would be cool!
Justin would be super amazing
Love the Periphery shirt 🤘 we need a Spencer/Andy collab
Love you Andy
andy always impresses me as much as phil does
Andy is dope AF
9:39 se ta doidooooo 🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nice Periphery shirt, Andy 🌹
It’s super cool to know that Phil Bozeman can do things like in Hickory creek too!
Andy is a great vocalist
Oh, Andy most underrated vocalist! Although I don’t really like his music, and more his covers of my favorite songs. But his vocal skills and range are incredible
Dang, sad day. His songs and songwriting are sick though 😭
Nothing like a Whitechapel show, Phil is a legend
There was actually a video on Phil's vlog channel where he explained how he does his vocals. Ie: tongue positions, mouth shape, etc
Oh shit this was 2 days ago, I thought it was 2 years or something like that, this proves Bozeman did history with that performance!
Literally two of my favorite online teachers reacting to the GOAT
maybe you should ask Phil? it will be cool to hear his explanation of techniques
Yes it would!
Great video. Please analyse Danny Worsnop’s vocal performance for the Mitch Lucker Memorial Show too!
12:08 HA the "Unanswered" pun lol
Gotta respect the Engineer that gave us these beautiful audios for history to listen to forever
Your reaction to "that moment" was awesome, haha.
I have seen a guide on false cord from this guy. I wanna thank him! :D
Oh its andy so cool!!!!
Phil Bozeman's lows are LEGENDARY. Even his fries can get nasty low

Andy is me showing this performance to literally anyone that will listen
¡INCREÍBLE VÍDEO!
"It's a fucking toilet bowl" hahahaha
We're ignoring your immediate noise after lol. Worth clipping.
if you haven't heard LANDMVRKS you should definitely do so
Flo is an insane vocalist, would be a great reaction
oh yes please, anything from lost in the waves or more recently creature would be great
@@garg0y7e yeah! and `Visage` ending is so incredible and in so hard to perform
Self made black hole is my fav!
I'm 100% sure dude on the right has listened to Landmarks. That's not even a question lmao

Legendary
I found this cD dvd at a second hand store and squeaked inhuman noises. I’m my collection forever!!!
the fry engagement low youre talking about is just using the tunnel throat technique, it does use the same engagement as fry
Such good vocals 🎤💎
