    My favorite description of that low, it's from Austin Dickey and Jared Dines "He just proceeds to turn into a toilet." Just unreal.

    Phil has always been an icon for me and this performance was one that inspired me to start getting serious about vocals. He is a literal beast and now him and Will among others just keep raising the line of how insane vocals can be and keep me wanting to get better and better and even create my own styles! Metal vocals are so unique and is genuienly one of the coolest communities out there and im so glad to be apart of it, especially seeing people react to one of the most inspiring/insane clips ever. :D

    You guys should check Danny Worsnop's take on The Price Of Beauty too! He has some interesting ultra lows in there which came out of nowhere (I don't remember him ever doing anything like that anywhere else, super impressive, he almost went full Phil Bozeman)
    Also Anthony Notarmaso from After The Burial killed it too on Smoke

    I can watch "Whitechapel" over and over and over again live. It NEVER leaves me disappointed and Phils growl is one of a kind and his singing voice is phenomenal also!

    Chris you have to get Phil to feature on one of your videos. That dude has done so much for the genre and extreme vocals in general. Whitechapel's catalog is so deep with lots of different colors in terms of musicality and texture

    I absolutely love how analyzing metal vocalists has grown so much more as of the past couple years. Phil has been one of my favorite metal vocalists for so many years. I would highly recommend some actual White Chapel songs now.

    I would love to see you guys break this video down with David Benitez of Renesans and Extreme Vocal Institute or even the lead singer of Tallah. Both are very knowledgeable and skilled. Also, Phil Bozeman is one of the GOATs, absolutely one of my all time favorites. Phenomenal vocalist. Favorite for false chord screams

    I watched an OLD video of Phil talking about his "toilet bowl" sound, pretty sure it was his own video he posted, either a Q&A or vocal tips, and I'm pretty sure he still uses his false chord low and then curls his tongue to the back of his top teeth, and he called it the toilet bowl sound himself that he could modulate and such. I learned a lot from him, exclusively learning their old songs and some of his youtube videos he posted back in the day.

    i always thought that the super low section was being done with a very well trained and compressed low inhaled scream, as it sounds as if he lacks some of the consonant modulation that is so apparent on inhales. i may be completely wrong but it makes sense that the low sound is created by inhaled, which creates a high frequence low pitch scream and doesn't have that much bass

    Andy, it’s ALWAYS! Important for tongue placement, as well as the shapes you make with your throat with those low gutterals. The low exhale combined with the pig squeal is the oldest vocal technique in deathcore. It’s a low false chord wth your tongue to the roof of your mouth while sustaining the low gutteral. Try it out!

    I was fortunate to get to tour with WC when they were coming up. I've never been a big fan of technique-screaming because I love when vocalists actually holler. It's how I do it. I assure you this, Phil is one of my top favorite metal vocalists because he is loud as fuck. I remember standing side stage many nights, and I could hear his acoustic voice past two full stacks. He has an incredibly powerful voice, and you can hear it at 9:51. Dude is top shelf.

    You should check out Whitechapel's most recent work. Whitechapel's last 2 albums are damn masterpieces. Songs like "When a Demon Defiles a Witch", "I Will Find You", "Lost Boy" and "We Are One" prove why he is one of the best in the business.

    If you enjoyed the moments where phils voice was coming through in those highs, like yelling, you should check out the devil wears Prada. Mikes vocals are pretty much like that all the time, yet somehow he has a pretty unique sound that I think you would like. Anything from the zombie ep to now. Before that he was kind of* following the same vocal trends as all the other popular bands of the time but I think he’s since found and nailed his own sound.

    My lord you should check out daxx riggs screams in the band acid bath. There is really none like it anywhere. Even though i think hes doing it "wrong" in the vocal world, technique wise. The sheer brutishness amd volume coming out of that little man is absolutely wild and entrancing

    At the around the 11 minute mark they are trying to figure out the deep growl. You pull your chin back and down and roll your tongue on all sides and go light and it will roll out with ease. I havent been in a band in years but this is death metal 101.
