Back in the late 60s I surfed with Skip at PB Point and Sunset Cliffs. My brother and I hung out at G&S original shop in the wall site. Skip was always very cordial and shaped all our boards. We were owners of his first Frye models. In 1968 I asked if he could make me a board for my first trip to the North Shore. He said I’m trying out 3 boards for the world contest in Puerto Rico and he’d give me the one he wasn’t taking. It was an 8 ft 18” wide pintail. I can still remember taking off on my first 15 ft wave at Sunset Beach. Why can’t I find any real footage of him surfing. Most footage is just PB Point.
Awesome clip DLS. Whenever Skip Frye is mentioned I listen!🤙
