Nice job on the analysis. A couple of thoughts. As a roofing contractor, I have experience working on roofs of this type. Even with a low slope, they don't tend to collect dust and debris due to the slick surface. More importantly, they can be extremely hot in direct sunlight; so much so that you can not touch the surface for more than a few seconds with bare arms, legs, hands, etc. While it seems the shooter had some range experience, I would contend that doesn't mean he is competent to perform the evil task he chose. The poor choice of optic is the best evidence of that. A head shot at 140 yards using a 1x power red dot sight is not as easy as many people make it out to be, especially when the roof is burning your skin, an imperfect rest, a policeman coming after you, time pressure, a moving target, and knowing that this is likely your last act on earth.
@@ScottyBennitone With practice and the red dot, at 130-140 yards, it is quite possible to put multiple rounds within 1 foot of Trump and quite possible that one of them hit his ear.
It's a white roof. It will be hot but not scalding hot. It's also in Pennsylvania, not South GA. Those roof panels are the old style with polyester paint, which chalks, so that means the surface isn't completely smooth metal, which means the heat coming off of it feels different to your skin. There's a layer of chalking paint between you and the heat source. You can see the chalking on the USSS snipers pants from the building they were on which also had a similar roof panel. I had heard it was known that the ammo was .223 55gr FMJ, although the brand wasn't mentioned. They also knew he had bought a 50 round box either earlier that day or the day before, so that narrows it down some given that rifle ammo is normally sold in 20 round boxes. The only 50 round box I can think of off the top of my head is Fiocchi .223 although there are probably others I don't know of.
Kudos to the Butler SWAT officer making an off-hand shot under stress at over 130 yards on a partially-concealed target and taking the bad guy out of the fight long enough for USSS to wake up. That officer saved folks from severe injury or death, and deserves credit no matter your political persuasion.
All the LEO SWAT guy did was miss, right? I mean, the Congressman said he disabled the gun, but Mrgunsngear says no. The south SS team had changed sides 30 seconds before Crooks popped up and fired 8 shots so saying they were "asleep" doesn't make any sense. They weren't asleep, so why one of them didn't get a shot in before the SWAT officer did 9 seconds in is hard to explain.
The guy in the white shirt black pants walking in front of Crooks was also at the picnics table with either police or investigator when all the police came out the doors
The photo released of the backpack shows the length of upper receiver vs backpack if receiver is placed simply diagonally is just 6% shy of closing. Using the depth of the backpack and the fact it was a soft pack you can easily gain that last 1" of space. The 30 degrees til across the backpack sideways gains around 2.1" space and the 15 degree tilt front to back gains another 0.5" making the deficit needing a light tug on the fabric to close zipper only 0.1" for a nominally 13.3" tall backpack. The backpack size is clearly shown with the ruler available on the rifle+backpack photo.

@@Zero_Dark_30_ if it's the report I saw, their "expert" said it had a folding stock and removable barrel. It's crazy that there are millions of "gun people" in this country and the media can never find someone that has a clue about them.
Journalists seldom know the subjects they report on any better than a quick search on wiki would get them. The “detachable barrel” is probably their incorrect description of how the upper and lower break down. I saw a pic of the rifle in two pieces next to the back pack and it was obvious the two pieces of the rifle were too long by a good bit to fit in the pack. They’re more interested in pushing a narrative about why the AR should be banned than seeking the truth and reporting it, which is what journalism students are told is the job. Of course, that all goes out the window as soon as they land a job in the field.

Former president* Doesn’t matter what ammo you use that 1:9 twist is abysmal for 5.56. Going to the range does not mean you knew what you were doing, his set up demonstrates that
@Wyatt274 The military has done extensive testing on this. They would have went with 1:9 barrels if it hadn't been for tracer rounds failing to stabilize in sub zero temperatures. This is literally the only reason they opted for 1:7. The only time 1:9 becomes a hindrance (besides arctic weather tracers) is when firing wildly heavy grain ammo which very few people actually keep a large quantity of. 1:9 stabilizes 55gr and 62gr just fine and seeing as those 2 grains make up the vast majority of available ammo your statement is trash.
@6string42 Well said. That is why I have never been afraid of 1/9 barrels. I own two of them, both Colt. One 16 inch and a 20 inch Competition HBAR. They both shoot everything from 55 to 77 gr lights out. The 20 inch is an MOA gun with 55, 69, and 75.
One thing about the optic. I qualified at my local gun range with a Colt pre-ban A2 Sporter with standard perp sights. 10 out of 10 in a 6” circle at a 100 yards. I think I was 65 at the time.
Thank you for covering this. It seems like whoever modified the rifle loved Magpul for sure. One thing I wanted to point out was that his rifle had a K2 grip not the regular MOE like the one you showed on your example. It has a sharper angle which could be a clue also. Just thought it was interesting since if you're putting Magpul furniture on a random rifle the CTR and MOE would usually be the most likely set. The grip angle of the K2 is much different. Not sure how much of a difference it makes to your analysis. Just noticed it. Cheers 🤘
25:00 Yes, I remember most of us were struggling with our demob rifle qualification because it was a particularly hot day. One of our more experienced sergeants pointed out that in high heat the trajectory will tend to rise a bit, especially at that 100-150m apex.
I never did qualifications just shooting on my farm since i was in kindergarten. Every gun we own we know that they are gonna be shooting an inch high at 100 and when u are shooting in a downward trajectory the bullet actually climbs more then u would think. I learned watching my dad shoot at a buck down the hill while aiming at its knee and having the bullet go over his back. Was a foggy morning so i could see the bullet trail through the spotting scope. He got it on the 2nd shot but he was basically aiming at its feet to hit it in the chest.

If anyone is still obsessed with subtle differences in the sound signatures between the first 3 shots fired at trump and the 5 shots fired into the bleachers, consider that if he switched from the red dot sight to the offset iron sights the blast from that muzzle device would have sounded different as it echoed off the rooftop.
I noticed the sound difference too and thought he fired only 3 shots, then a police sniper fired the others. There was a break between the first 3 of a few seconds and the rest.
@@eeddsdsd I agree, in the few seconds between bursts he could have backed behind then roof peak or tilted the sights. Ether way would account for the sound and where the brass landed. As soon as Trump dropped out of view the little #ģ@* shifted his aim to the bleachers. He would rather murder innocent people than try to save himself.
F3lah hiders arent silencers they dont change sound from turning your gun 10 degrees. A flash hider has 0 ability to change the sound of a rifle only things that changes sound is length of barrel or the use of a surpressor. Shorter barrels are louder then long ones but regardless it isnt like dude chopped off 6 inches of barrel. I have no explanation for it could be the person who was shooting the video simply moved from behind whatever was blocking the sound or turned the camera toward where the shots were coming from which changed the amount of sound u heard. just looked there absolutely is 556 subsonic ammo so that would be my guess he tried using subs to be less noticed and knew after a couple shots hed be heard nyway so simply went with full powered ammo after the fist couple which could be what screwed him up. He prob thought it shot the same as m995 or something and thats why when the shots got louder they were hitting targets above trump after striking him in the ear. Maybe he sigted in for subs and he only had a couple left on that day idk. To bad they couldnt rip his toenails out and find the truth from him.

My big question is why was he cremated? Why was his body released to the family at _ANY_ point? That shouldn't be their choice to make. When he chose to do what he did he stopped being property of his family imo.

I would also add that the metal roof holds tons of heat and if it was over 100 degrees, he would probably get quite a bit of “heat mirage”, for lack of a better term. Not sure exactly what it’s called, but anyone who shoots suppressors knows what I’m talking about.
Another amazing and informative breakdown, thank you. Also, that background....if that is not a digital backdrop and where you live I love it, it's beautiful.
If this was anyone else it would still be on nightly news in my opinion.
Maybe maybe not, when Obama was in office a lot of people did not know, The white house was shot at.
My wife and I were just saying this. I don't care how you feel about Trump, it's extraordinarily apparent that the gubberment and big media have subdued discussions surrounding the assassination attempt. R.I.P. Corey Comperatore.

At 4:28 in the video where it shows the FBI photo of the shooter's rifle, that is not a 1913 pic rail adapter. It's a Magpul "M-Lok rail cover, Type 2".

Great breakdown of the AR-15 and the story on Crooks, Mike. Appreciate it!👍
Thanks for clarifying how Crooks’ rifle stock was damaged and for your technical rebuttal of Representative Higgins supposition regarding the 9th shot in his preliminary investigative report.
Full length barrel and they think a telescopic stock makes it concealable in a backpack lmao.
I hate these clowns so much.
Still 20 inch is a full length barrel!
Yeah, if you take the upper and lower apart...
@@richardw2801 No! No you fucking moron! You clearly have never had one, it doesn't fit in an any regular backpack without sticking out even if you take the upper off.
He had the gun separated from the upper/lower using the takedown pins, which isn’t that difficult to do and fit into a 22 inch backpack. What about that that you don’t get?
@@KonaLife The fact that the backpack still isn't large enough for it to be inside without it popping out, and that the telescopic stock doesn't make it easier?
The FBI had pictures you have no excuse.
Good thing he didnt use something like a lpvo. That setup was certainly not ideal for what he was trying to accomplish.
Very clear demonstration, thanks.
Glad to get more info. Wild that this is all USSS and FBI has released so far. Had things fit an agenda they liked we would have everything already.

Most information on this series than any others I've seen
First "sniper" I have ever heard of to use a red dot as an optic. I call BS.
The DC Sniper used a red dot.
I think it’s just a matter of semantics. The news is going to call any shooter firing from a prone position a sniper. Real talk idk why this idiot wouldn’t have used a magnified optic if he was taking a shot that important no matter the distance. Luckily he was seemingly retarded 😂
Sniper is the person trying to engage people at a further distance than a "close" gun fight or shooting where most are within 30 yards.
Great video sir, video quality and sound are impeccable. Information provided was very concise, well researched and delivered. Definitely earned my subscription.

Thanks covering this in such detail
I had heard it was known that the ammo was .223 55gr FMJ, although the brand wasn't mentioned. They also knew he had bought a 50 round box either earlier that day or the day before, so that narrows it down some given that rifle ammo is normally sold in 20 round boxes. The only 50 round box I can think of off the top of my head is Fiocchi .223 although there are probably others I don't know of.
I used that "Buck Fever" reference in one of your earlier videos...funny to hear you say it.

Great video Mike. Its amazing how much different reporters information is on any firearm. Compared to an actual gun enthusiast.
Thank you for your detailed report!
Love your detailed assessment.
Kudos to the Butler SWAT officer making an off-hand shot under stress at over 130 yards on a partially-concealed target and taking the bad guy out of the fight long enough for USSS to wake up.
That officer saved folks from severe injury or death, and deserves credit no matter your political persuasion.
Yes, the SWAT Officer fired the 8th shot, and the USSS shot the 9th
All the LEO SWAT guy did was miss, right? I mean, the Congressman said he disabled the gun, but Mrgunsngear says no.
The south SS team had changed sides 30 seconds before Crooks popped up and fired 8 shots so saying they were "asleep" doesn't make any sense. They weren't asleep, so why one of them didn't get a shot in before the SWAT officer did 9 seconds in is hard to explain.
Great explanation!
Thank you
You're welcome 👍🏽
Thanks for staying on top of all of this, Mike.
The guy in the white shirt black pants walking in front of Crooks was also at the picnics table with either police or investigator when all the police came out the doors
Oh wow that's interesting. Makes you wonder what up ... I think we know. Thanks for the info. I'll look for it.
The vertical stringing is probably because your rifle wasn't free floated.
Exactly my thoughts.
Hey, I like plain vanilla!

CNN showed the rifle and, as usual, incorrectly reported that it had a folding stock and a detachable barrel. Check it out , I believe that it was on Langley Outdoors.
The media has never known Come Here from Sic um about firearms. so that's no surprise!
@@Zero_Dark_30_ if it's the report I saw, their "expert" said it had a folding stock and removable barrel. It's crazy that there are millions of "gun people" in this country and the media can never find someone that has a clue about them.
I saw that lol 😊
Let's be honest, when is the last time a "firearms expert" brought on TV has known WTF they're talking about?
Yeah, I don't remember a single time.
You'll never convince me this guy wasn't on the radar.
Hell, they probably trained him at the Secret Service range they all practiced together at...
That only says something about YOU.
how is it in this day and age of high res cameras on every device, footage is always so blurry including photos, just always seems suspicious to me. Either way great video and breakdown!
I believe on Crook’s rifle it’s a Magpul M-lol cover at 6 o’clock on the front of the rail and not a section of 1913
Mike, great stuff. Been watching your videos a long time. Hey it looks like the front picatinny rail piece looks more like the magpul m-lok handstop kit. Thank you for keeping us up to date. Stay safe.

Doesn’t matter what ammo you use that 1:9 twist is abysmal for 5.56.
Going to the range does not mean you knew what you were doing, his set up demonstrates that
1:9 is not "abysmal" for 5.56.
@@6string42 yes it is
@Wyatt274 The military has done extensive testing on this.
@@6string42 LMAO whatever you need to tell yourself champ, you are still wrong
@6string42 Well said. That is why I have never been afraid of 1/9 barrels. I own two of them, both Colt. One 16 inch and a 20 inch Competition HBAR. They both shoot everything from 55 to 77 gr lights out. The 20 inch is an MOA gun with 55, 69, and 75.
One thing about the optic. I qualified at my local gun range with a Colt pre-ban A2 Sporter with standard perp sights. 10 out of 10 in a 6” circle at a 100 yards. I think I was 65 at the time.
*types in notes* “don’t get Swiss Army bag for carry…..”
Nice breakdown, and concise! Also, pointing out what isn't known instead of speculation, thanks man!
The more you think about it, the more questions that come to mind. A lot of things don’t add up.
Like what? Seems pretty clear to most.
@@KonaLifeI've yet to hear logical explanation as to why the perimeter was pac man shaped and AGR roof not included since this roof was close and had a direct line to the stage, why this was the first time counter snipers were at these events, why snipers weren't placed on the AGR roof yet two teams placed behind the stage, why was no one placed on the water tower, why the drone was turned down, why radios weren't picked up, why the SS didn't attend the morning meeting, why the snipers in the second story couldn't hear the crowd screaming from their open windows, why Nicol left his post, why evidence was destroyed, what about the van, Crooks parents not talking and more. Excellent analysis! In the final analysis, it was the nut behind the trigger..
You are giving Crooks a lot of credit by asking questions like "why didn't he use a bipod?" "why are the offset irons deployed?" "why would his handstop so close to the receiver?" Bro just I think he didn't know what he was doing and took someone else's rifle.
It was his dad's rifle
He just stayed that crooks took this exact rifle to the gun range 40 times just this year. Thats a lot more than most gun owners and likely means he definitely knew what he was doing.

@Yettiattack thats not true. Trump turned at the last second.
This was the most detailed and informative assessment of the shooters rifle, thanks
It's also possible that he moved further up or down the roof

The backpack is brand: Swiss Gear, made by Wenger. Can be easily purchased at Target or Costco. It's an older model. Most of their backpacks are sold as 16 or 17 inch size. Some of the larger ones are 18-19 inch size. Barrel of rifle is reportable 16 inches long, but that may not include some of the extras that are attached to the barrel. Just looking at the photo, I'd say this one was a 16-17 inch size.
