It's great to see that there are people out there empowering local communities to sustain themselves instead of getting stomped on by the big guys! Good work!
You are doing amazing job man , all of you ! , keep upload more videos I love to watch them , make them longer :) , Is better to watch you then a hollywood move ! / to bad I'm not your brother ! ,I would like to get some adventures and learn the things you do :) , have a great day
Haha, that was a bit of a bucket list moment for me. I really wanted to make a video with an authentic "adventure/searching" scene with "The Egg and I" playing in the background like in the Cowboy Bebop episode!
I just came across your channel. I am looking to become a lapidarist. I very much enjoy your videos and I subscribed to your channel. Please can you do a video on schools and/Or equipment or refer me to a previous video on this if you have one? Also I would like to see how to make and polish bangles from stones. so how do you cut a circular middle section out of stones and gems. Thank you so much and keep up the great work amd videos
Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the film. I have a couple of instructional movies on cutting, ruclips.net/video/AwM1dOsWsoo/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/Nd6_wIczcMk/видео.html .The usual way to learn lapidary to to check out local lapidary clubs. This depends on where you are however, if you are in a country that has a cutting industry you may be able to find a company to take you onto learn.
It all depends on where you want to go. I would recommend getting in touch with people like local officials in the mining industry, gemmology or lapidary centers or brokers working directly out of the country your interested in.
This is so amazing! I'm just learning this as a hobby and to possibly sell some cute sets from our bus home but once I master it, I would love to maybe drive our bus through central and south america and teach this. Did GIZ offer any compensation? Can I email you for more information?
Feel free to get in touch at support@lawsongems.com. Otherwise GIZ organized our logistics on the ground and it was actually the Tiffany & Co. Foundation that sent us over there and there was also a bit of support from the Universities of Queensland and Delaware so it was a big team effort :)
Haha thanks! I hope one day to get to do TV documentaries (I have been approached by National Geographic and Tiffany's Jewellery) which would be at least long enough for a half hour show, but for now being a RUclipsr it can be tough to hold attention for more than a few minutes so I have been keeping them short, but hopefully one day soon you'll be able to catch one of my films on Television ;)
Awesome news Charles! I was just thinking how much I would love to watch a full length documentary on one of yours trips! National Geographic would be perfect! Congratulations on the offer! I look forward to seeing it! You are doing wonderful things for the world & I'm glad the world will get the chance to know it! Thank you!
There are many Sri Lankan companies in Madagascar (probably the largest percentage, by value of the dtones, of gem buyers there are Sri Lankan) so there would be plenty of contacts for you.
Congratulations on the video I watched your work often guide how to recognize the stone is wonderful it would be better for me if you spoke Portuguese KKK I realize with the video that I have sapphires here they say that it is stone rolled of river these more little lianas have a lot of greenish that in the light blue and some little blue one day make them video congratulations 👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
Well done. Education is so critically important. They work damn hard and deserve fair prices.

It's great to see that there are people out there empowering local communities to sustain themselves instead of getting stomped on by the big guys! Good work!

Refreshing to see someone putting back into an underprivileged community. Hope you find the best sapphire in Madagascar.
Good bless you for helping and spreading the gems knowledge to these people to make their life better.

I've always loved stones, ever since I was little! Stones, traveling the world, and helping people? Sign me up! Seems like a dream.
Haha it is a pretty interesting line of work ;)
Lawson Gems You don't happen to need a graphic designer/marketer/geek do you? ;)
Haha thanks for the offer but I am not in need of those services at the moment, but will keep you in mind if I do :)
A very interesting film. Great to see you and your colleagues teach the local miners the skills to get the most from their finds.
Thanks! It was really rewarding work.

What’s the name of the light tool used at the beginning of your video?
Which tool are you referring to?
Lawson Gems the large flash light type tool. It’s silver with a small tip used to look at rocks. Is there anywhere I can purchase one of those?
Congratulations on the awesome job!
Thanks :D
i am a srilankan working for reputed company in textile, but i like to learn and start some small business regarding GEMs
There are many Sri Lankan companies in Madagascar (probably the largest percentage, by value of the dtones, of gem buyers there are Sri Lankan) so there would be plenty of contacts for you.
