Here are a few more details about this guitar: I got it used a couple years ago and it’s a 2018 model, the last generation of Malmsteen guitars. From reading everywhere, this seems to be the best generation of Malmsteen guitars and closer to his original one (some are missing the bullet truss-rod, some are missing the large headstock, some have lesser quality nuts, etc...) The difference with his original would be the pickups, those are YJMs instead of the classic HS3s. I tried both of these pickups in 2 different Strats and honestly think the YJMs are better, they’re like enhanced HS3s. They’re a bit warmer, with a little bit more output (that also changes depending on your pickup height adjustment). The HS3s can get a little thin sometimes in the leads, they’re also not potted, I had to pot them myself to eliminate microphonic feedback (I play super loud), the YJMs don’t have that problem. They still get that exact Malmsteen classic tone, so to me they’re the better pickups between the 2. Of course, it always depends on your entire gear and your taste too but that’s my experience from plugging straight into my Germino ´68 Plexi replica and my Marshall JMP1H.
Thanks! I've never had to worry about it, at least not from my experience. A lot of people say that but even on a non-scalloped fretboard, the string never touches the wood so it's always possible for it to go sharp as well, of course it's easier to dig in hard with a scalloped neck but that doesn't seem to be a problem to me on this guitar.
@JacobDeraps Hi, why does "on every video" seems that furys are more compressed and have more of a ibanez feel compdared to like hs3 more classic strat sound and articulation. You made your furys closest to old yngwie sound, is any ormf it true. People on video commenting myself included are leaning on hs3, put people who do comparision say with fury you are better because output and you can roll it a bit and get exact same as hs3
Bravo!! You are such a player. No reverb, super dry, little saturation in your face pure playing. No hiding hahahaha. Thanks for doing what you do!!!! Yngwie was a beast back in the day. Heard Hiroshima Mon Amour at the same time I got the Guitar Player magazine with the Black Star song floppy disk. My brain could simply not understand. So I started practicing 12 hours a day hahahaha
Great demo of a great guitar / those are great guitars with stellar pick ups / great Playing with great Stage Facial expressions in the bedroom ...love it !
You re not just a copyist - you have whatever that magic is young man. You can burn. If anyone deserves the gig in the Van Halen/Hagar 2024 tour its you, not Satriani. You are THAT special. Congrats Jacob.
Awesome job again bro!...I love my Malmsteen Strat (2016)! Great job playing all those tunes and nailing them as always. Hope you are doing well. Cheers, Rick
Fucking killer....question, I have a 97 Hendrix Voodoo Strat , upside down neck and bridge pickup slanted like a LH config...so much treble. You mentioned something about the tone knob on your YJM being disconnected when at 10...does this somehow cut the treble off the bridge pickup?
No, it's doesn't cut treble. Turning the tone control on 10 disconnects it from the wiring circuit inside the guitar, giving full brightness. Fender makes these. They call them the "No load" tone control. Most tone controls remain in the circuit even on 10.
@04:07-@04:16 sounds almost like Mick Mars.... since Mars play Fender Stratocasters too. Where did you source this particular guitar? I'm interested to having just like this, is the colour cream?
Jacob your playing is crazy good you remind me of Alvin Lee a lot but I am just blown away with your ability to grow facial hair as fast as you do. One minute your clean shaved the next you got half a beard. Anyways I've been playing guitar for fifty years and after watching you play I think I'm going to make lamps out of my guitars and sit back and cry. Not really.
I've been contemplating buying a YJM Start lately, he's the reason i started playing guitar many, many years ago, it's mindblowing how Yngwie the strat twang sounds, really authentic! And your playing of Evil Eye, As Above So Below was so amazing! Did it arrive properly set up and everything?
In any other time, you're a major player on the world stage.Keep plugging away.Remember Van Halen launched in the time of disco and California soft rock.In every musical revolution there's always one that's stubborn. I'm 59 and saw it in real time.
Thanks man! That's my 50th anniversary Marshall JMP1H, outstanding amp for bedroom use. No pedals, straight in. Sadly, I can't use my Germino in my apartment but I still use it live, it's alive and well!
Fantastic playing. You need to check out the Swedish Heavy Metal band Silver Mountain, that is where Yngwie nabbed the Johansson brothers from. Silver Mountain's guitarist is a slightly earlier Swedish neoclassical strat player, he rules.
Totally killer. I’m a child of the 80s and along with a bunch of my friends were 100% Yngwie maniacs. And I’m not kidding one bit. I could type a 5000 essay on the topic, but leave it at that anyway. In my opinion you should have been pick to be the guitarists on this tour that Sammy Hagar has going now. What’s it called? The Best of All Worlds or something. I understand how the cookies are baked at the Live Nation bakery tough. Satch has 1,000,000X more name power on the marquee and ads for this. Live Nations executives want to under all circumstances pay their Gulf Stream upkeep and gas bills so Joe is heading out. You would have ripped that stuff up. Great YJM playing. I saw him on the Marching Out tour open for AC/DC in Houston. I had a chance less than a year before that on the Rising Force tour with Talas with Billy Sheehan, but this is before we had cars since we were only 14. Also missed Alcatrazz. These are life regrets if I have any.
Killer playing! Ive just found out about you brother…Living 8n Colorado and haven’t seen or heard from you or your band here yet, but ill be looking out for it… watched a couple of your clips playing Eddie, do you have him down brother… Take care and keep killing it
Bravo

Awesome playing. With the scalloped neck, does it take getting used to do so that you don’t press to hard and make the notes go sharp?

Playing Malmsteen, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Hendrix and SRV in the same video? My man knows how to play the strat.

There is reverb though
@@WestlehSeyweld I thought the same thing lol
Great to hear you play ”Straty” kind of songs and styles in addition to Yngwie! A such a clear and revealing tone - bravo!
Great demo of a great guitar / those are great guitars with stellar pick ups / great Playing with great Stage Facial expressions in the bedroom ...love it !
Dude you’re such a killer player! No wonder Dweezil invited you on stage.

Wow. This is a side of your playing I have never seen. Shredding. Outstanding!
oh my god that was incredible, watching this while waiting on my own signature coming soon!
I love when people do a review and they're a good player! Great playing and tones man!
Yeah! Your riffing has such great attitude! And superb tone! Love it!
Don't know why I was surprised you could get that Texas Shuffle tone outta that axe, but you did! Doing great, my dude!
Thank you for doing a varied demo.
Very nice chops Jacob. If I could play like you, I would take my axe everywhere I go. Awesome brother. 🎸🔥👍
Well never knew that you where a Malmsteen fan to😃 welldone, you got some talent Jacob🤙
Bad ass playing. No backing tracks. Excellent!
Awesome job again bro!...I love my Malmsteen Strat (2016)! Great job playing all those tunes and nailing them as always. Hope you are doing well. Cheers, Rick
Beautiful sound!
Amazing guitar!
put a deposit on one today, can't wait to pick it up.great vid thanks.
GREAT demo !
7:50 was perrrrrrrfect!!
Hey man, killer sounds and killer playing
wow you played that Hendrix just like Jimi. You should def add some Hendrix to your shows
Sounds awesome! Always loved that Queen in Love riff. You're an inspiration man, tight playing! (D'un autre québécois, de Mont-Saint-Hilaires)
hell yeah!!!!!
Good guitar ay
Great player, pity there ain't more rock n roll
Love these vids!
nice jammin 👍 *Rainbow* 🌈
tone is clear and sounds sweet
Great job!and I wish to see the JMP1 in your vedio~
Eddie used to put a cigarette on the end of a string. Yngwie should have a donut holder on his guitars. 🙂
Yngwie's best track imo

They're not single coils. They're humbuckers.

Great job. Any High E slippage?
Alder Body Experience 👽
Do you do the Yngwie down,up, pull-off and then repeat when you’re descending?

what amp/set up did you use in this video? i like that dry tone
Hello, greetings from Ecuador. Dude what guitar processor are you using? Kemper, FracTAL, HELIX
Do you use Yngwie’s strings? The fender .008-.046?
Spot on as always, Jacob! How does this guitar compare with the Blackmore signature strat?
I haven’t got to try the Blackmore model, would love to! This YJM Strat certainly does Blackmore.
It’s not a demo tape! Let us know about the guitar!
Being an Yngwie I expected the guitar to play itself when you opened the case😝😝 well done as always! Love me some Yngwie!
Not bad!!!!!!!!!!
Mate I just realised that this guitar’s headstock is bigger than me own head x)
What amp are you rocking here Jakob?
Any pedals? Or just straight in?
Hes using his jmp 1 watt and has no pedals but added some reverb afterwards i think.
What’s the intro song?
Trilogy Suite Opus 5
Awesome playing and guitar.
Idol
Cover more Mr Rhoads, please
I have that guitar deference is I can't play it like that.😞
Dude you’re a beast 🤟🏻.
What year? Brand new or 2nd hand?
Got it used a couple years ago, it’s the last generation model, this one’s from 2018.
Why does it look gigantic?
So……..there ARE guitar heroes still left in the world. You’re watching one right now. 😎😎
you shredd! not doing country, thats blasphemy on a yngwie strat!!
Joey Jordison is still alive.
For me this guitar destroys the PRS John Mayer !
Why is the tone so horrible?
I watched you play since you were young. You were good then and now you are great. Wishing you many rocking years!
Me too and I agree 100%

Sweet guitar and playing, of course. 9 minutes of awesomeness! Is this into your Germino Plexi?? Pedals?

I love the Color! Just saw a '66 Ford Mustang convertible in the same color today! Inspiring for sure, better than plain white..
..."springtime yellow" .. I painted my Strat this color , added YJM pickups & scalloped the fretboard...
Love it !!!
Superb skills :) I always thought the pickups were 'stacked' coils, ergo acting like a humbucker?
Can you please share your amp settings on your Bass/Mid/Treble/Gain and so on???
Love these strats, just a shame they are only 21 frets imo

This guy is f**king awesome
Killer tones!
If i order a YJM Stratocaster from the dealer or official website of Fender, is this the model that i’m gonna get ?
Yes!
Verry nice playing !!!
Do you use gain boost from back of your amp ???
Amazing Guitar man!!! I think the last guy put some graphite on the nut to get it to slide easier! Sounds great! Fender strats are the best!!!
Thanks! Oh, that could explain the black dust around the nut then. It wasn't there when I bought it but came out of the nut after playing for a while.
@@JacobDeraps I actually use a few drops of 3 in 1 oil on my strat bridge and nut and it works amazingly !
Is the neck attached with machine screws and brass inserts in the body?
Is this the $2049.99 version from fender

Malmsteen is "classic rock" ... like Blackmore and Hendrix?... huh??
Those pickups are stacked, they're actually humbuckers.
When these guitars were selling for $1599-1699 new I would say they were a great deal, now at $2050 its 😬
I know this vid is 2 years old now as I write this. But I would pay folding cash money to see you play live.
Man on the silver mountain was my favorite you completely nailed it lol
Can still the mids of that plexi peeking thru the strat tones and a little bit of Eddie feel here and there, nice!
Nice chops, and an even nicer guitar! I'd love to own one of these someday. I loved the vid!!
These things will skyrocket in price one day
