I always love watching Kara’s detailed and creative videos and this one is awesome too! Thank you Kara, for all of your fantastic ideas. I love them and this card turned out beautifully. I certainly ENJOYed it!
When you said the drink umbrellas always intrigued you when you were a kid, it made me think of a cookbook we had when I was growing up. It may have been the Betty Crocker cookbook, in which case, we STILL have it. Anyway, there was a section on making mixed drinks (alcoholic variety, of course). They had a photo in that section of a glass or holder or something with several swizzle sticks in it. It had rich jewel-toned colors in the plastic sticks & the overall ambiance was very warm. I just thought that photo was magical! Now, though we do have some swizzle sticks left over from my dad's drinking days, neither of my parents (at least after I was born) ever made mixed drinks & didn't go out to bars to drink & collect swizzle sticks. I am a complete teetotaler myself, as well, so no bar-hopping for me, either. :) Anyway, I love how your card came together, Kara! Just all the layers & textures you achieved. I wonder if clear embossing powder would have also worked for the tiles, in lieu of paste. Just ink through the stencil with embossing ink & add/melt the embossing powder. Would have been faster, even though you'd probably still have to do it in stages, but I don't know if it would have the same or a similar-enough effect. Thank you for sharing. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
Wow! Great card. I am a big fan of mixed media, and I enjoyed all your techniques. The shaving cream is one I did ages ago. That one never goes away. I will have to get this set for the "Girls, Party on the Patio" invitations. Thank you for sharing your creative skills with us. Love it!! 🍹
This video is FULL of amazing ideas! I love the idea of using the honeycomb stencil for a tile background! And of course the shaving cream for marble! Nice job!
