sometimes you don’t need a deep story or an incredibly unique concept. sometimes all you need is loosely defined powers and enough edge to revive Linken park.
Story is pretty good imo, it's just not accessible, you have to really be invested in game so that consuming random ppl for their memories is a good enough of an activity for you. Game just doesn't reward you enough for that, so the story is missed by many, even though it's quite interesting and has a very heavy feeling to it.
ngl the game’s story is pretty good and has enough depth to make me think for a moment. The plot twist is amazing and the narrative that a virus has more humanity than the person it takes form of is really cool. The plot narration that unravels plot points is very unique and I like it

I don't think PROTOTYPE was _that_ underrated, though. It had many flaws. Mainly it being a quite easy (subjective, but eh) game, the fish brained AS (Artificial Stupidity), BADLY done "stealth" and the very weak and little interaction with the open world. It's a fun ride if you wanna have Overpowered Edgelord Protagonist fantasy vibes fulfilled and instill chaos in an experience that is more akin to a sandbox game, but not much else besides that as far as I remember of it. Still seems to have potential, though.

It's a cakewalk in comparison to the first where infected hunters are as fast as Alex, Blackwatch is utterly merciless with constant fire power and evading helicopters squad can be a death race. I'm not saying P1 is Souls Ascended Mods difficulty but sometimes there is a second of non concentration meaning instant death. Oh, and there is no instakill button for vehicles. P2 isn't a bad game after all, it absolutely nailed atmosphere and oppression of Blackwatch over the city. Graphics looks amazing and tendrils attaching and pulling bodies? 10/10 And as comment above said. Remake would need to have a lot of care and attention to run smoothly as silk. There is just so much shit going on that PC's and consoles would boil themselves in seconds X'D

Not really, Mercer uses both the claw power and the blade power at the same time in the intro, something you can't do in the first game which is where this intro comes from. Not only that but he also uses powers while in disguise, something you can't do in both Prototype games.

Alex Mercer is one of the most badass characters in all gaming along with Kratos, i really hope this legend rises again.

I wish we have rolling as one of the randomized landing animations during gameplay. It looks cool seeing Alex do it here. (Alex does it once during the cutscene after he gets injected with the parasite, and that's it.)

There's also that one in-game cutscene right after getting the parasite where Alex jumps off of the rooftop of a Hive and rolls on landing, which's the only time he does it in-game. Anyways, animation swapping is now possible in P2 thanks to modders from The Hive Discord server. I'm currently figuring out which animation is which.

As much as I liked prototype 2 I hated the story I didn't like at all what they did with Alex's character i feel like they could have did more with him as a protagonist before making into a sterotype bad guy Heller is not a terrible character but to me it's to cringy with him cursing in almost every sentence and being angry I prefer alex because i enjoyed his calm and calculated personality I also feel like they severely nerfed alex in the final battle i mean he has been a prototype for what we could assume for years there should be no way heller should be able to beat so easily besides plot armour

Actually, if we notice, when the heller consumes Alex, the heller cuts off 2 hands of Alex, and the heller only consumes his body, and 2 hands are not consumed, Alex can grow back, like in prototype 1, Alex was hit by a bomb explosion, and he managed to live, there he already said that Alex himself has become a virus, the storyline can still continue alex is still alive, but I don't know for the developer if he still wants to continue the prototype, because this game hasn't been good news for a long time

The Prototype trailer made me realize how much potential the series could’ve been crazier than we think. Imagine if this virus actually managed to spread around the world and how insane it would’ve been to eventually see a war between the military + super soldiers vs Evolved humans like Mercer and heller + the regular zombie infected swarm and the mutated infected. Really think about that for a minute…
That would be a heck of a fight tbh. Like with spiderman 2 you can switch between mercer or heller and both have their unique abilities from the first and second games. Or you'd play as pariah

As much as I loved this game, I kind of feel this game could have been so much more than just an arcade style of collecting and gaining points. The story was so good they could have done way more with it but that being said it was hella fun to play

Agree. Just finished playing through both of them again, and Mercer is a far more compelling protagonist/antagonist than Heller. Heller is just a stereotypical jarhead with a stereotypical revenge-driven story. I don't like him as a character, whereas Mercer... Just something I connect with for his character. As a game, PT2 did a lot of great things (love the claw lunge!), but PT1's story and execution was just better.
2:14 I remember my reaction when I first saw this close up of Alex. I was thinking “oh welp, those dudes are fucked”. I wish this game had a solid modern gen remaster
bonus points when you realize by this point in the story he can tell who's infected and who isn't... Notice how his attention is at first on the woman they killed before he looks at them, as if to say "you murdered an innocent woman who wasn't even infected... you die now". Granted, the actual Mercer wasn't much better than the Blackwatch goons he just carved up... but post infection Mercer at this point in the story did try to do the right thing when he could.

As much as I loved this game, I kind of feel this game could have been so much more than just an arcade style of collecting and gaining points. The story was so good they could have done way more with it but that being said it was hella fun to play

Christiaan Carlebur I didn’t like how in the second one, Mercer just gets consumed by Heller.... like this is Alex Mercer, the guy who can survive getting nuked and then coming back from consuming a crow, i thought maybe Mercer would have like come back from the severed arms that Heller chopped or tore off
Agree. Just finished playing through both of them again, and Mercer is a far more compelling protagonist/antagonist than Heller. Heller is just a stereotypical jarhead with a stereotypical revenge-driven story. I don't like him as a character, whereas Mercer... Just something I connect with for his character.
As a game, PT2 did a lot of great things (love the claw lunge!), but PT1's story and execution was just better.

2:14 I remember my reaction when I first saw this close up of Alex. I was thinking “oh welp, those dudes are fucked”. I wish this game had a solid modern gen remaster
bonus points when you realize by this point in the story he can tell who's infected and who isn't... Notice how his attention is at first on the woman they killed before he looks at them, as if to say "you murdered an innocent woman who wasn't even infected... you die now". Granted, the actual Mercer wasn't much better than the Blackwatch goons he just carved up... but post infection Mercer at this point in the story did try to do the right thing when he could.

This is but a small part of their ravenous behaviour in p2 instead of finding a cure they started experimenting on innocent civilians 😡 and kept them in cages. Just a piece of advice if you really want to show off your power plz show them in zombie liars/hives and military bases leave the NPCs pity them 🥺
But if prototype makes a comeback and Blackwatch and GENEK organization gets completely demolished then I will be the happiest person living in the world.
