It's almost criminal how-few people have seen what's arguably the greatest science-fiction film of the 90's, Strange Days. I've no doubt at all, that in time many will come to realise this lost classic (especially in the wake of Kathryn Bigelow's fantastic, recent film The Hurt Locker.)
It's a mystery why this classic, even 13 years after you commented, STILL hasn't been released on Blu or 4k... Or even available to stream. This is an incredible movie, top 3 in my opinion. I think I wanna watch it... RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
Saw this movie on cable back on the 90s on a whim and I was blown away on how great it was. Criminally underrated, great song. Angela Bassett was great in this
this movie would be in my top ten best scifi movies of all time, and certainly is THE best live action cyberpunk movie ever made. it's as well put together and executed as any gibson novel and has a very similar feel.and the sountrack kicks ass
I remember getting the Strange Days soundtrack mainly for this song. So glad the Spotify rabbit hole led me back to Skunk Anansie. Damn good movie, damn good song.
A great song by an excellent band, a song that underscored one of the best cyberpunk/noir sci-fi movie around, "Strange Days". A criminally underrated masterpiece. “Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason.” Lornette "Mace" Mason (Angela Bassett.
JUST Discovered this song band and singer. Somehow got on a Strange Days trailer randomly. Think I’ll watch the movie. As a movie lover I feel ( from reading the comments) I missed a gem.
I still have the advert for this movie that was in Rolling Stone. I fell in love with Ralph Fiennes. The movie was spectacular. I went out the next day and bought this soundtrack! The kiss in this movie is still my fav of all time - perhaps it was made even better because it was directed by a woman. Katherine Bigalow and James Cameron didnt let divorce get in the way of an artistic partnership! I love it:)
i love how they were in a movie about the turn of the century...which was the future back then. It was kinda like wow...they're ahead of their time....but even now that the new millenium is here..like you said...still badass FIFTEEN years later!
1990's films for the win. Strange Days is one of the best ever. Very atmospheric and futuristic, even watching it now. Timeless. Gotta make a 1990's playlist for best movies in that decade and watch them back to back on when I'm not at work.
UK never seems to celebrate its Black British women icons, its sad. Skin & Skunk Anansie were and are phenomenal, this song is fire, give her her flowers now!
This and Vanilla Sky are my all time favs. Both have the best soundtracks man, 🤘💜💜🤘 The music in this one blows me away. Deep Forest, Lords of Acid, Juliette Lewis’s band, etc. etc. I could go on This is where Bigelow and James Cameron met and married 😳😳
*arguably* the greatest. contact, gattaca, 12 monkeys, dark city, and YES the matrix too. i could list tons more of my favorites from that decade. man the 90s were great i tell you
Back around 1995 I was working as a roadie in Queensland, Australia. I got a call one night to work with a band at a small venue near me. The band was Skunk Anansie. I'd never heard of them before, but was very impressed with their show. When I got home I was trying to explain to my girlfriend what they were like (this was before RUclips, so I couldn't just look them up and show her a clip). The next night we decided to chill for the night and watch a movie, so we went to the local video store where I spotted a Sci-fi movie starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Lewis that I hadn't heard of before called "Strange Days". I'm a fan of sci-fi and both of those actors so I grabbed it. You can imagine my surprise.
Nothing pretty about this song. It’s realistic, it’s brutal, it’s dangerous. It’s beautiful. That’s why a love the music from the period. Man Skin can sing.

Can we make this Christmas number one in the UK next year please? I know it wasn't penned to be an over commersialisation of Christmas protest but I don't think anyone has put it better and I am sick and tired of the crap being churned out of the X-Factory year on year out.

Does anyone know if that is Robbie France on drums in the video because he is the amazing drummer who played on that whole album and was replaced by a very different kind of drummer.
The only part of the song I don't like is the ending. She's singing at her most loudest and that's when they dissolve out. Keep the part where she roars like a lion.
This movie defines "cyberpunk".
Such a glorious, underrated masterpiece.
Thank you 😊

I watched this movie yesterday for the first time. It is so epic and strong!
I saw it back in 1995-LOVED IT, but sadly it was gone from theaters so quickly.
Skin is absolutely great. Skunk Anansie is one of the best bands ever.
I totally love SKIN and this band!
All I can say: pure raw genius. Such energy!
This movie captured perfectly what I thought Y2K would be like and this song was the best part of the film. Total mania in Times Square.
great song and a underated film imo
Skins voice is absolutely beautiful and shes such a powerhouse 😍

@d 789 ... yep, Contact was great too ... a different kind of apocalyptic vision, but immersing nonetheless ... Angela Bassett in both movies!
Just saying, Angela Bassett in Strange Days... what a smoke show, hot enough to blister your skin if you stand too close to the screen.
