If only government paid teachers like they pay politicians.
Considering how our children are increasingly falling behind most of the world in terms of education you either need to pay up for better teachers or make sure they are meeting the standards needed to help educate our children - the problem is two fold- not enough good teachers and children these days being held captive by social media.
I’ll bet that package still wouldn’t help teachers
Anyone else notice how the respect for Public Schools, teachers and their Unions has eroded since all the Covid game playing?
They did this to themselves.
Wrong, it was the trumper terrorists.
You mean there's something wrong with taping masks to kids's faces, kids who were brighter than those teachers by knowing the masks wouldn't work, was a bad idea?
Oh. 🤔
As a teacher for over 20 years in a no strike state. Yes, strike! We are under paid, undervalued, and as expectations grow for teachers we are often left with little resources to do a critical job. For example we have a new curriculum but not enough books so I pay out of my pocket the cost for copies so kids has basic access to materials. I work 2 jobs with having masters degrees in education to support my cost of living and pay for other items for my class. Teachers should be compensated a living wage. I have friends who are teachers living at poverty but it’s ok just get the kids to pass the test. If the pandemic showed us anything is that most teachers are resourceful and can make any situation a bed of roses for the hood of the kids. When my students can come to school in designer clothes and I am going to good will to get my clothes there is a serious problem. School Boards need to get their heads out of the sand and “show me the money”.
Maybe I care if they educated instead of indoctrinated children 🤔
Exactly 💯
Example?
"...The school board has tried desperately to make this strike about teacher salary, teacher professional development, and teacher leaves," she said. "Let me be clear. This strike is about our students who deserve a commitment to modern schools with heating and air conditioning, smaller class sizes, and a well-rounded curriculum that includes art, music and PE."
94% voted against the last offer. Own up to it.
Well if the community voted against it. And YOU can't live with that BYE👋. please step aside and let a TEACHER who WANTS to TEACH in the community have your job. What Do you think ENTITLED you to it 🤷
@@donsims1941 The 94% vote was 94% of teacher union members voting against accepting the offer from the board. This means that the board made an offer and the union found it nearly unanimously unacceptable. It wasn't 94% of the local community voting against the board's offer to the union, like you just made up out of thin air.
@@TheTrueValkyrie66 also how does it CHANGE ANYTHING that I said? If the COMMUNITY or the TEACHERS rejected it BY 94% Either the 94% of the COMMUNITY OR 94% of TEACHERS don't AGREE to the TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 🤷 well BYE 👋👋. Doesn't change MY POINT. If you aren't happy GET OUT OF THE WAY and let SOMEONE ELSE have the position 🤷 🤣 floatyboat liking YOUR OWN comments 🤦😢
@@donsims1941 does it ever get tiring simping so hard for the elites?
@@donsims1941 you think you're entitled to underpaid babysitters? The last deal was shit. Support the strike
If it's like our State, school district administrators are paid exorbitantly high salaries, some of the highest in the public sector. Teachers spend a ridiculously low amount of time with students. Private Schools are full as soon as they open. More money doesn't fix the problems, less administrators, less Gov't involvement and empowered parents that can actually make changes and have control of the school systems they pay taxes for. School Boards and administrators seldom listen to or follow the Tax payers input or demands.
Maybe they should spend less money on lobbying and more on salaries.
Children r ur priority? When it's ur final offer how does that statement hold water?
they've chosen not to educate your communities children, shit move from people who claim to care.
NOTICE HOW YOU SAY "YOUR" AND THEY SAY "OUR" BIG DIFFERENCE TEACHERS UNIONS HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY CORRUPT AND DO NOT REPRESENT THE TEACHERS, STUDENTS OR SOCIETY.
MEANWHILE THEY IGNORE ALL THE INSIDER TRADING CAREER POLITICIANS AND ALL THEIR WRONG DOINGS, INCLUDING HOW THEY ENCOURAGED THE RIOTS, LOOTING, VIOLENCE AND MURDERS DURING THE SUMMER OF 2020
GOVERNMENT IS A BEAST THAT LIVES OF THE BLOOD, EMOTIONS, BELIEFS, FEARS, TAX DOLLARS OF ITS CITIZENS, The corrupt politicians will say / do anything to feed that beast, Including breaking systems that were never broken before, attacking political opponents in disgusting and dishonest childish ways, will allow/encourage riots, looting, violence. will demand more and more $$$ to fix the problems they created , the problems never disappear but the $$$ ALWAYS ALWAYS DOES. No government program or service has ever been so effective that it made itself go extinct. WHEN IT COMES TO GOVERNMENT LESS IS ALWAYS ALWAYS BETTER.
GOOD GOVERNMENT ENHANCES FREEDOM'S IT DOESN'T TAKE THEM AWAY AND THEN TRY TO SELL THEM BACK TO US.
NO GOVERNMENT PROGRAM OR SERVICE HAS EVER BEEN SO EFFECTIVE THAT IT MADE ITSELF GO EXTINCT, ALWAYS A WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY, WHEN IT COMES TO GOVERNMENT LESS IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS BETTER
@@ralphferley2602 yes, your children are not our children. beyond that first paragraph didn't get read because typing in all caps to seem important doesn't work for me.
Nah they are tired of shit conditions.
Teacher socialists union.
Home Schooling time
Yup the school board took the commie money. Now the kids are in trouble.
So teachers are actively fighting for more resources, smaller classes, proper utilities in the buildings, wider curriculum, etc to improve the students' education and overall experience... And your response is to put them in a situation where they have even less resources.
@@TheTrueValkyrie66 Lmao you are utterly delusional....
TEACHERS UNIONS HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY CORRUPT AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MEDDLE IN POLITICS
Homeschooling so you can abuse your children more. The GOP way
Lol there isn’t enough money in Columbus for what you want.. the budget is poorly managed like most major democratic run cities…
I’d sure like to hear there offer??? Just the way society has been treating teachers in the last 5-6 yrs. it was going down hill even before that. Keep the Union in their. More Power to the Teachers!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
“We care about the kids” lol
So it's not about the children any more?
NOTICE THE WORDING "OUR" CHILDREN, NOT "YOUR" CHILDREN
TEACHERS UNIONS HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY CORRUPT
@@ralphferley2602 nah it’s not.
Journalism still sucks. Where is the teachers’ union rep in this video. Would have been nice to hear the other side discussing the issue.
Can't have that. They want to be paid and respected. Every teacher in this country should just quit and move on. Let the administrations take over since they already have.
"Other side" There is no other side idiot they're all on the same side and getting rich off tax dollars doing nothing every day.
#SchoolChoice
Vote blue if you hate your 401k and crypto!! #FJB
Teachers are asking for more money why? they only work 8 month out of the whole year. Make them work like the rest of us year round no fair..
You do realize they don't get paid over the summer right?...
@@quasinanners267 So they get paid a yearly salary and work 8 months?
@@avenue8822 Not necessarily, no. The teachers I know get paid like 45k-55k and they get can either get paid that amount over those school months and then get paid zip during the summer which means they usually have to get a summer job. OR some can get installments of that 45-55k throughout the year including summer so they still have income, but it makes each paycheck significantly less because you're spreading it out more. Either way is difficult to budget, especially if you have a family. Plus some schools don't provide everything for the classroom. I used to work retail and it was depressing how many teachers came in (especially during the pandemic) and paid HUNDREDS out of pocket just to stock their classroom with tissues, hand sanitizer, extra notebooks and supplies for students who can't afford it, and just overall trying to make the environment better since some kids came from rough homes. I think that's the main complaint I hear from teachers I know at least. The pay wouldn't be as big of a deal if schools provided even the minimum supplies needed for students to succeed. It's sort of a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario. They either cough up the money themselves for their classroom and have people put them on blast for asking for change OR say nothing and be put on blast for not doing enough for their students. People can be against strikes understandably, but I don't think it's as cut and dry.
@@quasinanners267 Thanks for clarifying. My problem really is not with teachers anyway. My issue is with a broken system (Public Schools) that the teachers get thrown into, and are expected to solve all the probelms.
Time for parents to have the choice of charter, private or religious schools in every state.
What about your teachers? When will you make them a priority so that the teachers can live?
Exactly
@@mollieedwards5967 they make a good living, just never enough for anybody anymore.
Absolutely true
This is getting gross, when is it enough? When will a union not demand more and more and more? Pretending that teacher are striking because they love they're students is very confusing. I can't afford where I live but I made designs that led to that. I would never dream of demanding that I get paid more than I'm worth and expect it. Everyone wants more but is every job/person isn't worth more. Congratulations teachers, kids aren't being taught.
Teachers get (if you count benefits) the equivalent of $60,000 a year on average in the US. They are vastly overpaid. More and more children have no critical thinking skills, many are functionally illiterate, they can't do basic math. Teachers salaries should be slashed in half and they should have to earn a higher salary through results, through execellence!
F the teacher's union!!!!!!
So no one should do anything about schools in disrepair, oversized classes, or the lacking curriculum. Nice
Flunked kindergarten I think.
@@TheTrueValkyrie66 why hasn't this been done before? What is their budget going to every year?
@@TheTrueValkyrie66 Lol home school is our future, we no longer need the out of date broken system, or its union...
@@Rajax32 By this do you mean the strikes? There have been teacher protests and rallies for years. Things like this are happening more because the issues are going unsolved and in many cases getting worse. As for what the budget "goes to" there may be misappropriation of the budget, just as there is anywhere there is a budget to be abused. However, it's pretty universally accepted that schools don't get enough funding in the first place, that's part of what teacher movements are working for. Even without misappropriation, however much there may or may not be, the budget is not enough. Misappropriation is a bad argument for not funding something anyways, especially something as important as education. Focusing on the increase of money for perpetrators is just distracting from the good people getting even more of the money. If anything, increasing the amount of money being misused could make it easier to track down the perpetrators.
More proof that Public Schools are failing. School Choice creates competition, demands accountability, and provides the best learning environments for those who want to learn.
For those who do not want to learn, keep a few Public Schools around for them.
Lol look at all the comments by teachers here in the comments...Get rid of all the teachers and let people home school....It will be far cheaper, and we will not have to put up with all the woke BS, in our broken system.
No one's stopping you from indoctrinating your children, have at it.
how many comments are from teachers? How would you possibly know that?
School board-Our children are 1st. Our staff is secondary and we will continue to f over the staff any chance we get.
True
