People with Reiatsu just age slower Bleach is inspired by the 5 worlds of Buddhism not by the after life of Christianity.
Bleach is based on mostly Buddhism, they are basically a different form of life a plane of existence but not truly dead and like traditional souls. They still have to eat and are vulnerable to diseases, deadly wounds and can age with the exception of being hollows and hell since they are outside the normal cycle They are still In the cycle of suffering.
