I remember when, around 1999 or so, Phil Keaggy lent his amazing vocal and guitar talents to a song on an album by some obscure Christian progressive rock band called Ajalon. I wrote that song. Thank you for that, Mr. Keaggy. Still one of my favorite songs.
Phil is a completely humble man. I was broke in Florida and the call went out over the radio that help was needed setting up. I rushed to the auditorium and got to meet him in person and told him about a couple of songs that he had done that had always touced my heart. Salvation Army Band was current then. He played both of the songs during his part of the concert. Then after the concert while I was helping break down, I introduced my wife to him. She broke down into tears and he spent a long time talking to her while they trying to get him on the bus. This was a huge blessing during a difficult stage of our marriage.
I love Phil's playing and the emotional content he brings to each song. It really brings my heart and mind into love and thought of God and all He has done for us to be a part of His Kingdom.
If this is your first exposure to Phil, Dan, you need to check him out. I'd recommend albums like "Jammed" and "220" as well as his work with Jerry Marotta and Tony Levin "("The Bucket List"). One of my all-time favorites is "Happy" from Phil's "Play Thru Me" album; his guitar prowess on that song was incredible even over forty years ago.
I've seen him live 4 times. He has a great voice that's overshadowed by his incredible talent on the guitar. I have the CD's master and the musician and 220 on my mp3 player. Phlip side is awesome
Never heard that song before, but, I can hear Jeff's style coming through! Almost brought a tear to my eye, OK, it did bring a tear, a small tear! Thanks so much!!
I was at that show, Phil was great as were many of the players that evening. 3rd & Lindsley is my favorite bar in Nashville for seeing great live acts. So glad they did not sell the place as was planned about a year ago.
Phill' s songs are so moving, his voice, and guitar playing are phenomenal! I'm presently trying to buy every CD I can fing of his, a priceless collection for me!
Hey this is a real treat for my workday! Thanks PK channel 🎸 Hullo from downunder, Phil. I'd love to interview you on my Christian channel about the theology/music nexus. A friendly chat. No prep needed and no trick questions. Would you be amenable? God bless, Phill (2xl's)

One of the most underrated guitarists in the world! Impeccable tone and style. I've been listening since Glassharp.
Not under rated unknown, all that no of him read him highly

Not many can make a guitar sing like Phil. Talent and soul from this man!!!
Still blowing the dust off that stage Mr. Keaggy! My applauses!
God bless you Phil! I remember jaming with you backstage 37 years ago in Michigan - I will always keep that close to my heart!!

saw Phil about 20 years ago here in Florida solo by himself with a loop machine!
And then Chris Rodriguez just casually walks across the stage. 🙂 Another great talent.
Phil is just amazing! Loved him since ‘72.
I never knew he was this good. That was amazing man. 💪😎🎸

Just perfect...! Followed you for what? 45 years? I've played for 66 years. Thanks!!! Needed all of that beauty.
Why is this man not more heard? Wow!!! Such finese timing touch and tone!!
Flown under the public spotlight for years but musicians that know real amazing talent and skill know he is right up there with the best of them.
Great tribute to Beck...Nice playing!

Of all the Guitarists out there in late 2024. Phil is the Cat that in his own way-is able to emulate Beck’s magic .
Just love the way you romance the awesome sound out of those strings! Blessed hands…❤❤
Beautiful piece, sweet sound ❤️
As a fan going way back to when I saw him on the “How the West was One” tour there’s only one thing sweeter than Phil’s guitar playing: his voice 😊❤️
Wow, Phil, this is just dreamy! I think I've listened to it 5 times now since you put it up. Everyone played with great feel.
Great sound
Great band backing a legendary musician.
Glad your arm has healed, thank you for sharing this.
Phil you're still the best IMHO.

No he didn’t…
@ecstrat1966 Yes he did...I watched the interview.
@@LIGHTINDARKNESS-ib3yk yes along with terry kath and rory gallagher and who knows how many others, jimi was just humble and probably a very nice man

SNOPES HAS THE STORY IN DETAIL...I DON'T REMEMBER WHICH EPISODE
Is that a kahler tremelo on Phil's guitar?
try solid ice this one kicks also
Is that a Kahler or a Floyd rose on your guitar?
Looks like a Kahler
It's refreshing to hear Phil's awesome licks without that stupid repeat effect he's used for years.
Great
