Even my pastor says he no longer holds to systematic theology, at his age he’s learned that there is so much more to God, and he wants to continually learn, not lock himself into a system.

This video is making me even more humble than I already was, and I didn’t think that was possible!

"Pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. True humility is the only antidote to shame." - Uncle Iroh, The Last Airbender
I think it's a good practice to recognize shame and follow its thread to where your pride was wounded. Then undo it.

I thought when Zuko came back to Iroh, who immediately accepted him, it was a picture of the Prodigal son parable.

@@HowToThink-h7e That is why I see Uncle Iroh as a visible example of what the writers of the Bible were trying to convey one could grow into.

@HumanLarvae I agree. I heard something on a channel called cinema therapy (I recommend their channel for being both entertaining and helpful) talking about Iroh. They said that Zuko thought he needed forgiveness, honor and redemption, but that Iroh always saw that in Zuko. From Iroh's perspective, Zuko's arc is about learning to see that in himself.

I like this verse for when others are making themselves out to be something they aren't, especially in light of some sort of superiority, "“Who say, ‘Keep to yourself, do not come near me, For I am holier than you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day." (Isaiah 65:5)

Havent watched the video yet, but just last night I watched a clip of Jordan Peterson talking to Matthew Maconaughey about humilty. JP said something like "the funny thing about humility is that if you're not careful, it can make you prideful, ironically."
Just thought that was interesting, considering the title of the video, which could be seen as exploring "true" humility

If I were to tell you what I think true humility is, I think I would be rather proud of that accomplishment.

Regarding being "man-centered." Was God being "man-centered" when He sent Jesus? Was Jesus being "man-centered" when He actually became one? Is salvation "man-centered"? Is the "help" God offers "man-centered" when He doesn't "help" angels (Hebrews 2:16,17).

    @24:43
I'd say that seeing things the way they really are is what PRODUCES true humility ("true" is just redundant) rather than what IS humility. If you don't see things the way they really are and you think you're being humble you really have a false humility ~ which is no humility.

    Humility is self-awareness, not self-deception.

A Christian is one who knows that they are in Christ and He is in them and on a journey of learning to love God with all of there heart, soul , mind and strength and others as there self. God saved us for a sanctifying process so He can use us for His Glory!! He gave us all things that pertain to life and godliness so theses characteristics can be defined by us being in Him and Him in us!! This means that our identity is in Him!! True humility is us in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ our Lord empowered by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God!! His Word is alive and active and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart!!

Wow!!.. What confidence to put out that "Systematic Theology"?! Jesus said "That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
How can anyone be *_SO_* confident in their own private understanding of God's Word as to benchmark such an *_exhaustive_* exposition on *_all matters pertaining to God??_* ... I mean for real! Jesus said "if you continue in my WORD *_then_* you are my disciple indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31-32).. if our understanding of God's will grows everyday in The Lord's Word, who has the confidence to define all things in one moment of time without the fear that further clarity may correct an error in the future?? Yikes! It is just raw arrogance.

Humility is not false humility. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

I ll use the verses like: man is evil, no one is good but God not to fall into vain glory. So look at it from which angel you want. It remains bible truth and goes to show man is not good.

      Acts 10:2 (KJV)
2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
      Acts 16:14 (KJV)
14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, WHICH WORSHIPPED GOD, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
      Acts 17:10-12 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

When Jesus humbled Himself when He went to the cross He just didn’t think of Himself at all. When we point to ourselves negative or positive we are still thinking of ourselves this is not humility.
