I love the relationship Jin has developed with Chef Baek. I highly recommend you add Jin's 4 part series to your watch list (on YT) called Jin's Alcohol Journey. Chef Baek helps guide Jin on the making of traditional Korean alcohol. They have a great dynamic, and it was interesting and funny.
Mr Baek has a great sense of humor and was able to have fun with the guys, letting them be their goofy, funny selves without taking things too seriously. Fun to watch. He and Jin became good friends after this and even filmed other shows together.
Chef Baek is the recurring character in Run Bts who everybody loves. He is very fun and loves tannies very much. Also, He went on to become Jin's very close friend, he is always meeting Jin nd u will see him in a lot of his solo content too.

But who knows in their private time.
There is an art to rice even in the rice cooker. It took me years of my Marriage to get it like my husband. Now I don’t even question it. I will say it took me about a week to adjust to a new rice cooker. There is definitely a difference when made really well. It can get almost slimy if completely messed up. 😊

The instructions are always so confusing to me. It seems simple but my brain over thinks it and I use the wrong finger or section of my finger. 😭😭😭😂😂😂🤦🏾♂️

In the knuckle method, you add one first-knuckle's worth of water regardless of the amount of rice being cooked. I have long fingers so I did just under 😊

I watched that with my mom because she used to make traditional alcohol at home when we lived in Korea) And yay for Spam Musubi!! Most people don't like it unless they're from Hawaii (where I am) But I say scrapple is worse, I lived in the south for few years and never took liking to it. 😑
I really enjoyed your reaction. The guys are so fun to watch in the kitchen. Although they have varied skill levels, they all really enjoy it. Jin and Yoongi are very, very good cooks. Hobi, Jimin and Jungkook are maybe a teeny bit less skilled, but are still good cooks. Namjoon and Tae are non-cooks of the group, but they really try and are always helpful in the kitchen. As others have said, Jin and Chef Baek have become close friends and you should definitely watch Jin's Traditional Alcohol Journey, where he learns to make Korean alcohol from a master of the craft (there are four episodes). You can really see how close Jin and Chef Baek are on that show. Jin is even friends with his wife and kids!
I just love watching bts eat. It's like one of those comfort things. There are tons of clips of them just eating. And it also comes from the fact they from the trenches. They respect good food. 😭

If I remember correctly chef Baek wanted to collaborate with them on this episode to promote k-ham to help korean farmers because of the economic difficulties from covid-19.
The guys are still thrifty like they don't have money, it's so funny to watch. In a Run BTS they had a staycation in a new fancy hotel. Jungkook won the biggest suite playing their first game. Everyone goes to look at the suite and they all said "Wow who needs all this room, this is way too big." The smaller rooms felt comfortable and right. In the same episode the main game was there was a menu, they had to spend up to an undisclosed amount. If they did they'd get gift certificates for 1mil won. When they looked at the menu they all started complaining cause the prices were too much. The crew just made up the prices and their cheap asses was like "Yo this milk is expensive!" In an episode of their newest vacation/relax show In The Soop 2 (soop means forest) they put tolietries in each of the rooms the guys chose. It was all the brand that Jungkook used so he left his old used ones after the show and took the brand new ones home. Ain't that some shit we would do, I know I would 🤣🤣
A whole nother kind of Home Ec!!! Jins relationship with Baek grew into making Korean liquors. Jin let his batch sit in the fermenting cannister in his spa tub! Now Baek is making for Jin special celebration liquor to give as gifts when he returns from the military! Suga, Jin an JK are quite the cooks, Tae does the artistic plating and since his show with Korean restaurant in Mexico, he can fry up a tasty chicken and potato dogs!!! Jurn....got the table set already?😂

Thanks for the shout out to the Hawai'i folks. Try my Spam Musabi recipe. Layer Nori, Rice, drizzle of teriyaki sauce, Fudikaki, fried Spam suated in teryaki sauce. Fry Spam in Teriyaki sauce. Teriyaki Sauce: 1 part Low Sodium Soy Sauce, part water, brown sugar( to taste), garlic, raw ginger. Boil to infuse flavor.

It's common with people who either grew up with restricted access to food as kids/teens (like BTS did in their trainee days) or people raised by people like that. My grandad used to make me go back to sit and eat the 4 ramaining rice grains on the plate because he was a kid in WWII with a single mom and 9 siblings so he was iffy about wasted food. We grew up eating food like we were in the trenches too. Wild how universal these things tend to be.
Yea the human experience is the same all over but how it is passed on and how we carry it is where the differences come in. But we all if we have felt it before know what not having food feels like.

I honestly don’t understand how anyone can like spam. That stuff is gross… Pineapple doesn’t go on pizza but I feel love pineapple. No one is going to change my mind I love mint chocolate chip ice cream but the chips make or break it.

You could mess up rice in a rice cooker If you have too much water or too little water. too much water can lead to you possibly making porridge instead of nice fluffy rice too little water. It just doesn’t cook all the way.
I know you keep saying you don’t like kimchi, but a Korean cooking channel I watch here on RUclips called CafeMaddy recently did a video eating store bought kimchi. If you don’t like one of her higher rated ones, you probably just don’t like it, but that would be a good place to start 💜

I have the opposite problem to you, I learned mostly really complicated and high-level academic vocabulary in my second and third languages and I get self-conscious speaking them bc I don't know/struggle to follow colloquialisms and slang 😅

A 'hardtack' is a small cracker type biscuit or a plain cracker. The military uses in rations.
