She won't have to decline because they will not ask her. CC is the best thing to happen to women's basketball. But I get it she's a rookie and in time she will make the Olympic team. But think about the NBA dream team in the Olympics. They took one rookie fresh out of college player with them. I forget his name but he regretted it and later on the players admitted that they regretted it to. It was a bad look and there were other players just because they had been in the league longer deserved that one spot. I don't think CC needs that kind a negative publicity.. Caitlin Clarks impact reminds me of the Wayne Gretzky effect when the LA Kings traded for him and boosted viewership of the NHL and helped their expansion on the West Coast. Everyone wanted to see him play. His presence attracted media attention and cultivated new fans. Caitlin Clark is also expanding viewership and ticket sales......she is growing the league.......

Does Caitlin deserve to go to the Olympics? Absolutely! She is averaging just as many points as Diana Taurasi is (or was, since Diana's currently injured) and she is a phenomenal basketball player. She would be amazing for Team USA. But (in my opinion here) she needs a break. She's been going hard since her senior college basketball season started last year, and it would be good for her to have a break and calm down a bit. I think she should decline if USA asks her. And who are we kidding? Caitlin wouldn't even play if she went to the Olympics.

She should tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine, and work out with her team, recuperate and weight train. She has been non stop since IOWA started their season around October 2023. Hard pass!

I agree with both opinions, go and not go. Caitlin desperately needs rest. She is challenged night and day on every front.
I also believe she deserves to go to Paris. Other rookies have gone and she is performing at a level that warrants this recognition. I must say, however, if she went she would be bullied and challenged constantly by her own team, further exhausting her. Sad.
