    I once has a dream that I was hanging out with Nathan Fielder and that we ended up having this really emotional moment with him and we were both on the verge of tears because he was an alcoholic and wanted to kill himself because he found no meaning in life. I told him “What does have meaning, is this” and I gave him a hug to embrace him and made sure to give him a reason not to kill himself. Then, after that moment along with all the other moments I later forgot, all turned out to be staged, every move I did was pre written and pre done based on my behaviors both in speaking and in text messages of mine. It was so mind blowing to me how that would even be possible. It also hurt my feelings a bit that all of that emotion put in was all choreographed, every word I had said, including the hug, was all preordained, it was so bizarre and my mom and sister already knew about it and everything.

    this show destroyed and rebuilt me as it went on to make the rabbit hole of making sense out of all the anxiety flowing through a person, while going thorough life ,just as it forces Nathen to feel something out of all of the nonsense that EVEN the simulated life throughs at him, it forces us to try to face the real rabbit hole in our real life and maybe try again to have a feeling about it,
    but what would that feeling be ?
    will it even be pleasant ?
    I think that was the most brilliant moment that episode 5 made for me.
    and I totally appreciate you attention to detail about episode 1 and the true nature of Nathen's actual marriage,
    I think this is the most honest, fake show ever.

    Wow you're the first person I've seen give a good explanation/ review on The Rehearsal so far. Loved the fact you also gave the viewers a little background info about his previous show Nathan For You. Hope you do another video covering the rest of the show, cause each episode just gets more insane than the last and I love it!

    Your framing in this essay is great, especially how you predicted the way this show plays with serialization and breaking the fourth wall. The show does an interesting magic trick within its first few episodes. For the first 1-2 episodes, it reads as a soft reboot of Nathan for You with a fresher premise. But the further it goes on, I suspect it's Finding Frances that was actually the backdoor pilot for this show.

      Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Yeah, it really does feel intentional like its meant to blind side the viewer who expects a very different format.

    I think I've just confused myself-
    What if Nathan the Real Person wants to have a go at pretend parenting so he pitched the idea of this show so that he can simulate an undesirable parenting situation as Nathan the Character and thus decide if he is ready for the worst case scenario in parenting while working creatively

    I really hate how everyone uses the "ice cream poo" episode to explain Nathan for You. It was obviously an ask from the producers to make the show fit Comedy Central more, like how The Orville started out.

    • @nottle9779
      @nottle9779  2 года назад

      Yeah. It is the first bit so it’s what came to mind. Early episodes have a bit of weirdness to them. The caricature artist thing and the bit with Jon H Benjamin where he is doing job interviews is a little too much Comedy Central edge where I think the show became more pointed with what it was poking fun at.

    How likely is it...
    The entire show has been rehearsed and they're all actors?

    I really liked episode 3 and 4 with him rehearsing having the same feelings as the actor, but just doesn't understand. Then, after missing 8 years of the kids life, he just does a do over. He literally says something to the effect of "if life doesn't turn out the way you want, just change your perception". Then it shows the teen go in the slide and 6 yo come out. I'm so confused by ep 5, and so curious where this is going to end up!
