The games are seriously coming thick and fast in this modern cricketing era. Just inside 24 hours after a cracking fixture at SuperSport Park, both South Africa and Pakistan move further southwards to 57 km for the third and final T20I of the three-match series at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, on Saturday (December 14).
The Heinrich Klaasen-led Proteas has already won the series, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. While David Miller and George Linde came to their rescue at Kingsmead, it was a Reeza Hendricks show in Centurion. They will aim for a series sweep.
On the other hand, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side came up with better intent with the bat in the second T20I and posted a massive total, courtesy of Saim Ayub's crazy innings, but the bowlers couldn't turn up. They will eye to avoid the whitewash.
Rizwan had little hesitation in batting first on winning the toss on Friday in the second game. Pakistan lost their skipper early, with Baartman making an immediate impact on joining the bowling attack. Babar Azam was swapped with Ayub at the top of the order, but the former had to walk out to bat early in the powerplay at number 3.
Ayub was simply brilliant. The left-hander spanked the hosts to all corners of SuperSport Park and set a solid platform along with Babar, who was out against the run of play in the bowling of Linde. The Men in Green lost a couple of wickets, with Dayyaan Galiem impressing on debut, but South Africa couldn't get rid of the stylish Ayub, who was dropped twice in the whole innings by the debutant.
