Badlands and Blue Murder are 2 of the most underrated bands of all time

Ray Gillen was a fantastic vocalist, and he rescued Sabbath when Glenn was unable to sing properly due to an incident which saw him assaulted, he had blood caked around his vocal chords.
Ray was a confident frontman and is sadly missed, as is Cozy Powell.

Ray was the best vocalist of his generation. Largely unknown but known amongst musicians

he is unknown for a reason, and its the same reason badlands albums are blacklisted, don't fuck girls if you know you have AIDS.

It would have been interesting to see how this played out. In some ways it is a good thing it didn't otherwise we would not have had the epic Badlands debut and also the Blue Murder debut was also epic. Those two records made the Spring and Summer of 1989 very magical.

Megadeel both bands were the cream of the crop but a few years too late

Yes, and who would have thought at that time that era was nearing it's end. Sickening how the music business is manipulated much like the media. Ran by the same schmucks !

Yeah as much as it would have been cool to hear Ray with Blue Murder....in my mind it worked out perfectly. We got 2 of the greatest bands of the decade with Badlands and Blue Murder instead of 1

Franklin played with Sykes and with Jimmy Page , opposite ends of the rock guitar spectrum , but both very talented .

like badlands, it was blue murders record label that shit on ray... both bands were struggling with a major label deal so the record co. (and their money grubbers) got in the middle of the song writing, (like they do) both times (geffen and atlantic) telling band leaders john sykes and jake e lee, that ray wasn't cutting it for them... so of course this lead to arguments and ray being forced out.

Why didn’t Cozy stick with Blue Murder?

    • @tonyvincent9753

Cozy Powell died in 1998. Blue Murder’s debut album was released in 1989 with Carmine Appice on drums. Did Cozy leave the project by choice or was he asked to vacate?
