Thank you for riding the double decker ferris wheel with Jacob, so that he could get the chance to ride, this rare ride! I thank you because, I know that you are not a fan of rides! lol
You passed by my family’s hot tub booth! They usually make 50% of their yearly revenue at the Iowa state fair! Glad to see you enjoying something so important to me and my family!
I've gotta ask, why do people sell hot tubs and RV's at these state fairs, always found it bizarre but I guess it helps due to the big amount of people seeing your product?...
So glad a fan showed up to ride that double ferris wheel with ya. What a great opportunity! I love watching ur videos and was surprised when i see u were in maine. Im so envious of ur summer. 🎉 Ur such a humble happy human being. 😊
That is totally awesome that you reached out for a partner to ride the Double Ferris 🎡 wheel, n actually found Zach!!! Too cool use of your tools (of your trade)!!😅🎉
The “double Ferris Wheel” is a Skywheel which debuted in 1939 by the Alan Herschell Co. Chance Manufacturing took over production in 1970 but the ride has been out of production for a while, with only a few carnival shows offering them due to travel and maintenance costs.
Oh, a good old fashioned giant model train layout. i could stand there and watch it for hours. Couldn't be said about the double ferris wheel though. With shame i say i'd throw up. But it is an amazing contraption, and i'm so glad you showed it and rode it with Zach. Also nice that they had a more easy section for smaller children on one side, and a wilder section on the other side. Very good State Fair, and looking forward to some others this week. But Jacob, don't overdo yourself, keep safe, walk straight and show us some fun in good health.
At one time the Iowa State Fair just had a single midway where the double ferris wheel is. I think they had farm equipment displayed where the kids rides are at. Been since 1982 that I have been there. Moved to Arizona that year. State fair here is nothing like Iowa's.
Jacob! I’m a born and raised Iowan. Des Moines to be exact. That fair has been part of my life for many, many years! You did our fair proud! You covered so many amazing things, looks like you had a ball. So glad you found a double ferris wheel rider. Thank you so much for an amazing video of our fair! Wish I could have met you there. ❤ God bless you brother!
Jacob you and Jen should start collecting the Christmas decorations indicative to the places you have visited. Idea for home vlogg decorating the tree!❤
An ornament to each state they go to ! Can u imagine they would have a full tree in no time. Each ornament can be a different shape from the other ...in fact he has collected so many MOLD A MATICs , he could put a string on each one and make a full Christmas tree decorated by them.
The double ferris wheel is a rare treat. I don't think we have any more here left on the West Coast. I'm jealous of you. Keep bringing us your fun road trips. 😁👍🎡🎡🇺🇸
❤ I am originally from Iowa and always enjoyed the state fair. In 1982 we moved to Arizona and I miss it so much. You did justice to it. With it being such a large fair you seemed to cover it quite well. I used to be a seasonal worker for about 6 years and was employed in the Administration Building as an announcer for various things and was amplified over the fairgrounds. I am so glad that they had the double ferris wheel there. I rode on it when I was either 10 or 11 with a buddy of mine. We enjoyed riding but felt it was intense as well. That was the one and only time I ever rode it. I hope that sometime I can make another visit to the Iowa State Fair. God bless
Really glad you got to check out our state fair!! It was my home away from home growing up, camping in the campgrounds with my grandparents and working dozens of different jobs over the years! The double ferris wheel always terrified me but I HAVE to ride it whenever it's there!
So glad Zack turned up. You both so brave after witnessing them tighten a bolt😂. So entertaining with your screams! Can't wait to see the next state fair.
There are 3 movies called STATE FAIR. They were released in 1933, 1945, and 1962. The first 2 versions were set at this fair, but the 1962 version with Pat Boone and Anne Margaret was set in and filmed at the State Fair Of Texas. Yes, the best one ever.
There was a double Ferris Wheel I went on, long ago in White Oak, MD, back in the 90s. I miss those kinds of rides. And wish I had more friends like you Jacob, open-minded and love thrill rides and Haunted House. And yes, I'd join you on a double ferris wheel brother.
Love seeing this. I was raised my first 14 years in Des.Moines. The Iowa State fair was a constant for us. The butter cow every year. That double ferris wheel, and all my projects from 4-H being ribboned 😊. I absolutely feel nostalgic! Thank you.
Have ridden Double Ferris Wheels off and on since the late 60's at the SC State Fair when they used to have them. They're a rare ride now...don't see them too often anymore. It was fun watching this.
Yay. So happy you Made it to our fair. We will be there Sunday. You actually showed off a lot of new things we haven't seen and we go every year. Lol. So glad you enjoyed it and I hope next year you will come back to our state and we can meet up with you. So much more there. :)
Up until today, I have never even heard of a double Ferris wheel, let alone seen one. Pretty cool, and, judging by your reaction, kind of terrifying. And I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Whenever you scream like a little girl, I giggle like one.
I Believe, Jacobe, you found the lost double ferris wheel ride, the best, most awesome ferris wheel ride in the world. Their use to be one at Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio, as you first walked in, it was down a little on the entrance midway. The most awesome ferris wheel ride in the world. I loved it as a child, and was really cool at night time. The ride through fun house really needs to be better, there getting to be a real rip off. Usually when I did not have someone to ride with me, because they were scared of the ride, I would tell the man at the ride, he would yell out any single riders hear and always got me on a ride, you are not the only one looking, and I bet after a short wait you would get on, and who would not want to pass up a chance to ride with the carpetbagger.
Fantastic video Jacob such a lot going on in it .. looks like an amazing place . Love the way you’ve put the whole thing together.. some great shots etc 🙂
The double ferris wheel is one of my favorite rides. I have been on it over 30 times. Used to see it at most of the fairs in the 80's. It's great to see it again. Thanks for a great video.
The Great Bedford County Fair, in Bedford, PA used to have a double Ferris wheel ride. I did ride it once. But I haven't seen one in ages. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen a double ferris wheel only once in my life, and that was in a large carnival in Wallingford, CT. back sometime in the mid to late 1870's and sadly, I didn't get the opportunity to ride it. I was probably six or seven years old. My parents were really really mean. My parents didn't ride rides at all. They hated carnival and theme park rides. And the carnival wouldn't let me ride it alone, and no one in the line would ride it with me. This is the literal first time I've seen one since then. This ride looks a lot newer and a bit smaller than the one I remember. I think the one that I saw had more seats on it and the wheels were bigger. I seem to remember each wheel on the thing being the same size as a normal ferris wheel. But then again, I may be remembering this through the foggy memory of being a six or seven year old, when everything seemed bigger. I do remember that the seats on the 70's one were different than these seats. This ride looks like it was built out of legos mixed with an Erector set. And yes. You can guess from my comment here that absolutely would JUMP at the chance to ride one of those. Flat rides are a bit of a hobby of mine.
You helped me solve a mystery. My dad grew up not far from Des Moin. Well when I was a kid he always loved the double ferris wheel and he would always look at me and say " come on Deb let's go ride it" it was the only ride he ever told me that, and we are talking out of major theme parks WDW MK, Disneyland, Knotts , Busch gardens etc... So I would take a deep breath and go with him, and at the KS State Fair in the 70s and early 80s we had two double ferris wheels right beside each other, so we would get on my dad was a great dad the best I was trying not to show my fear.. when that ferris wheel has you at the very top and brings you clear down to the bottom, this girl thought we were free falling I had a death grip on that bar, I was never so happy to get off that ride my dad would ask wasn't that fun, I bravely smile and say yeah dad that was great. Lol. So his love for that ride originated in his home state fair! I am impressed you got on that, especially since they had to tighten it up and send it for a few loops to make sure it stayed tight. I so hope your coming to ks would love to meet ya, oh if you are coming don't come on 9/11 that is dillion dollar day and it is crazy crazy busy, but any time during the week is great. Stay safe on those roads and continue the great work! You too sweet Jenny is going to love her stuffed fluffy butter cow!
I know I'm repeating myself but at the Pensacola Interstate Fair, they had a double ferris wheel 🎡 when I was a kid. That was back in the 70s and 80s. Yes it was fun!! I don't know if they still have it today.
As an Iowan and resident of Des Moines, thanks for coming to the Iowa State Fair. You hit all the right things! I can ride kind of ride at least once. If I had seen your call for a rider I would have jumped at the chance to ride the double Ferris wheel with you!
Iowa state fair, my oldest would love the boat ride to see those signs! He used to watch the movie when he was young. Sang the song till I thought we would go nutty. I giggled seeing these signs. I will probably start singing dollars to donuts myself for the next few days.
Yes!! I love the Iowa state fair. I used to work overnight security there when I was a teenager. It’s crazy seeing it through your eyes. I moved out of state and I still make it a point to go every year. Such a blast!
thanks for showing us the skywheel ! here in australia , we dont have any of those. Or the zipper, chaos, inverter ,yoyo, or rock n roll . We love the footage of all the "state fairs" , because they are very similar to our own royal adelaide show !! we will have to put a trip on our bucket list ! keep up the good work - it is a great travel show !!! very entertaining !!
The dude mopping up the boat in between rides for the tunnel of love ride, makes me think of that line in the song "love....the kind you clean up with a mop and bucket....."
I remember when the Minnesota State Fair had two of these, side by side. I love this ride and it’s a must for me every time I have an opportunity to go on one. Sadly, there wasn’t one at the 2023 State Fair.
The Seattle World's fair in 1962 had a double Ferris wheel like that one (maybe that's the one!). I thought it was so cool. I was so lucky to have a never-goes-away carnival in my neighborhood, too, but the wheel there was just a regular one.
Awesome find Jacob on finding a super rare Allan Herschel SkyWheel the original SkyWheel lettering is missing from the main support towers but it’s still awesome to see one still running and I can’t wait to see the other state fairs you’re going to over the course of the next few days Keep up the awesome work
When i was 18 i rode the double Farris Wheel at the Iowa State Fair. I hate heights too. It stopped when we were at the top and i could see Red Fox performing on stage at the race track. The ride was terrifying BTW.
Get on it get on it, Jacob. Go ride the double Ferris wheel. I wish I could go on it with you. I would go in a heartbeat. Hope someone comes along to go on with you soon
That whole deal about "Our fair is a great state fair, don't miss it don't even be late" is from an old movie called...what else? "State Fair." It actually has a tie in to an episode of Mash.
I thought those old double ferris wheels were all gone. Drew Expo used to bring one to Marietta Ga every year, but I haven't seen it in their midway since the mid 1980s. The North Ga State Fair (Yes, we have 2 state fairs in Ga every year. One in North Ga, and one in the lower part of the state. Marietta and Perry Ga, respectively) is next month, starting on the 25th of September. Come on down if you can Jacob!
As an Iowan, I attend this state fair almost every summer and I never saw the gift shop with the plush butter cows, the model train, the strolling piano or the one man band at the beginning before. And I totally wasn’t expecting a snake exhibit of all things!
This fair was so awesome, I really enjoyed seeing it! How can you not like kewpies, that’s almost illegal! Zach seems like so much fun! Oh heavens, I’d never go on that double Ferris wheel! Thank you!
If you ever visit York, PA again let me know and I will definitely show up for you. 😊 Awesome that guy showed up and he was fun too. Great video! We really enjoyed it
That double decker Ferris wheel was flying fast! Yall were crazy! I would not have ridden that for 1 million bucks in cash! I thought I was going to 🤮 just watching you guys!
I love the videos of you visiting all the various state fairs in the late summer/fall season (Will you be at the CNE this year?), hope you had fun and keep the surprises on the open road coming Jacob my good man!
Hey carpetbagger! I was the fan that said hi to you in the souvenir shop, sorry if that was awkward lol, I was kinda shocked to see you at the state fair of all places, I forgot to say it was nice to meet you!
That twirling ride whooooo made me dizzy and I'm just sitting still here lolol! Loved that you did the SOS and got that great guy to ride that terrible Ferris Wheel!!!! LOLOLOL Another great video!!!
Jacob there is a woman who is from my town Conshohocken Pennsylvania who does the farm show every year and it’s huge and amazing it’s up in Harrisburg Pennsylvania! Now that a big bull!
OMG the skywheel by far is my favorite carnival ride of all time. I am 51 and havent seen or ridden one in person since very early 1990s. Can anyone here please let me know which carnival companies still have a skywheel. I really would love to see and ride one again before I cant by virtue of old age or no longer here. I live in New York State so willing to make a.road trip to accomplish this lol. Used to ride this ride at the Altamont Fair near Albany NY often but its very rare nowadays. Its a legendary ride, the carnival companies would draw people in from all over for this ride.....
It was great meeting and hanging with you! Travel safe and I'll see you at Transworld!!!
Thank you for riding the double decker ferris wheel with Jacob, so that he could get the chance to ride, this rare ride! I thank you because, I know that you are not a fan of rides! lol
This interaction with you two made my day🤣
@zachwiechmann props to you guys for even riding it right after they finished assembling it 😂😂😂
I remember riding the double ferris wheel when I was a kid at the Pensacola interstate fair years ago. I don't know if they still have it today.
I myself would like to see more of Carpetbagger and Zack together in videos!! Zack living the life we all wish we could. Lol. 😂😂
Thank you to Zach for solving Jacobs single rider problem...prayers for safe journey
You passed by my family’s hot tub booth! They usually make 50% of their yearly revenue at the Iowa state fair! Glad to see you enjoying something so important to me and my family!
Good video we love it!
I've gotta ask, why do people sell hot tubs and RV's at these state fairs, always found it bizarre but I guess it helps due to the big amount of people seeing your product?...
@@Beetlejuice_88 because people in the agricultural business have lots of space and money for such things!
@@Beetlejuice_88 the amount of people def help too! I always wondered if they sell the most when people are drunk at night lolol
@@blueskyciara lol that and the couple trying to save their marriage I'm sure haha tons of kids made due to your business
You two on the double Ferris wheel made my day. Thanks, Carpetbagger.
I think you solved the “no single rider” problem. Just put a call out to the community and we got your back!
I bet
Jacob and Zach were adorable! They got on like a house on fire!
Awesome! ❤
What I really love about your videos is their complete lack of snark. You look upon the world with such fondness, it’s a treat to ride along.

That’s so awesome that someone answered your call.
Shout out to the guy who came out so we could get this amazing video!!
They used to have quaddruple ferris wheel in alabama back in the old days, they looked sketchy back then too. I enjoy watching your travels.
The double ferris wheel is a rare treat. I don't think we have any more here left on the West Coast. I'm jealous of you. Keep bringing us your fun road trips. 😁👍🎡🎡🇺🇸
That double ferris wheel is terrifying but id have to ride it atleast once! Looks like a blast! The whole fair looks amazing!
It is a blast. Not sure why they aren't around as much nowadays

the spin ride looks sooo much fun
We always had a double ferris wheel at our church fair years ago & I could only go on it with my dad. Great memories ❤
I've ridden the double ferris wheel. Yeah you two were right it's a once in a lifetime experience. 😳😳
Up until today, I have never even heard of a double Ferris wheel, let alone seen one. Pretty cool, and, judging by your reaction, kind of terrifying. And I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Whenever you scream like a little girl, I giggle like one.

That Ferris wheel looks soooooo fun.
It takes a strange, brilliant, and special person to rock the mutton chops.... and you do it well. Ty
Thankyou Jacob for taking us to the Sc state fair very fun ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I always rode the double Ferris wheel when i was a little girl at the Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport, La. I have always loved it!!
Thanks!
looks like a fun day! 💓Iowa! lots of good pork and a butter cow! thank you Jacob 🌽
The Great Bedford County Fair, in Bedford, PA used to have a double Ferris wheel ride. I did ride it once. But I haven't seen one in ages. Thanks for sharing.
Zach and Jacob had really good energy together. Double Ferris wheel looks awesome; on the fly repairs let’s you know it’s a fair ride for sure. Lol

That looks like a cool fair. The one they have in LA is done in an asphalt parking lot which makes it so hot that I no longer go.
Iowa state fair, my oldest would love the boat ride to see those signs! He used to watch the movie when he was young. Sang the song till I thought we would go nutty. I giggled seeing these signs. I will probably start singing dollars to donuts myself for the next few days.
Just a 2 hour drive from me here in Cedar Rapids Iowa
Great way to meet fans and ride the Ferris wheel
I rode one of those with my dad way back. That's a horrible ride! Awesome that you found someone willing to be touched with you lol😂
Yes!! I love the Iowa state fair. I used to work overnight security there when I was a teenager. It’s crazy seeing it through your eyes. I moved out of state and I still make it a point to go every year. Such a blast!
Omg I love the Butter cow stuffie !! I want him bad now. .I hope my Michigan State Fair has him...I just have to find him now ..too adorable
If not Iowa state fair has a website store it opens back up on September 6th
I did some sleuthing because that butter cow is absolutely adorable
thanks for showing us the skywheel ! here in australia , we dont have any of those.
This state fair is definitely up there in the top 10.
Zach is a hero!
The dude mopping up the boat in between rides for the tunnel of love ride, makes me think of that line in the song "love....the kind you clean up with a mop and bucket....."

Great video Jacob going to be an awesome 5 days of state fairs
I love the Double Ferris wheel. I rode one at Miami Dade Youth Fair. The sound it makes while rotating is the scary part.
You've become hilarious with your commentary. 🤣. My favorite RUclipsr by far! Thanks.
Get on it get on it, Jacob. Go ride the double Ferris wheel. I wish I could go on it with you. I would go in a heartbeat. Hope someone comes along to go on with you soon
Much love to you Zack. The double ferris wheel is definitely a No-Go for me!
Oh my! I hate heights! Those cable cars scare me! I’m praying the whole time I’m on them. That double Ferris wheel is absolutely terrifying!
Mad respect to you both riding that monstrosity of an open ferris wheel 😂
That whole deal about "Our fair is a great state fair, don't miss it don't even be late" is from an old movie called...what else? "State Fair." It actually has a tie in to an episode of Mash.
Great coverage from f the fair Jacob. I love going to the fairs myself. Each fair is so unique b
Thank you!
I am so happy you made it to my home state and one of the best state fairs in all the land! #Buttercow
Good Morning Jacob 🙋🏽
You two did great on that double Ferris wheel. I would not have gotten on it.
If you ever visit York, PA again let me know and I will definitely show up for you. 😊 Awesome that guy showed up and he was fun too. Great video! We really enjoyed it
I REALLY want to do a set up video on the skywheel.
17:09 I’ve been on that Ferris wheel, last year.
28:58 And your reaction, I’ve been there. Both exciting and terrifying
I rode a double Ferris wheel years ago. It was fun.
Love the state fair videos. I’m very excited to see the Missouri state fair next
That double decker Ferris wheel was flying fast! Yall were crazy! I would not have ridden that for 1 million bucks in cash! I thought I was going to 🤮 just watching you guys!
Good morning . Iowa a great state.😊
Ionia Free Fair in Ionia, Michigan used to have 2 double Ferris wheels in the 70's, and they would be located next to each other
I love the videos of you visiting all the various state fairs in the late summer/fall season (Will you be at the CNE this year?), hope you had fun and keep the surprises on the open road coming Jacob my good man!
The Skywheel is visually amazing on a regular day buy seeing it at night is an awesome spectacle.
I first rode one of the double Ferris wheel in the 70's as a kid at The Pike amusement park in Long Beach. It scared the crap out of me.
