I've been saying this for the past decade... When digital Amps and effects start taking over, Single coiled guitars will be king. When you can simply add output and still retain the squealing, you have now created the greatest guitar tone in guitar history.
Joe is truly an Amazing guitarist! Compositionally, he left his peers in the dust a very long time ago. Every album is very well thought out, a Gem!!! He just keeps getting better every year. And he never sold-out to any pop BS, consistently producing great heavy, dark neo-classical albums you never get tired of listening to. Thank you, Joe! Keep it heavy brother! I'm really digging "Forever Moore" "Turn of the Wheel" and the new version of "Midnight Sun" I'll see you on tour very soon, Rock on!
@@jfutach Yeah, Joe is truly an amazing musician and composer! Everything he writes is quality material with serious, well thought-out substance. He's the only one that has stuck to his heavy, dark neoclassical style over the years while everyone else pussied-out!. The man is a breath of fresh air in a sea of fools! Unfortunately, all the neoclassical shredders of the 80's and 90's have either completely lost their ability to compose and perform or they're way-out in left field playing some newage jazz/fusion funk diarrhea heavy rock fans don't want to listen to. ive been playing 30 years I just discovered joe. I had heard his name but never check him out. hes the most underrated player Ive ever encountered. amazing.
i agree, similar case is with me. To be honest i kinda heard before or saw the name in some guitar magazine ala who need to learn to play like YJM. Also some unprofessional players told that he is a sort of YJM..when i finally got album wow, ok he plays neoclassical but mister Stump is unique in every way. For last few years i tried to buy as many as possible of JS albums and found 2 guitar schools which are 1st class.
We need a tab book man! This is insane, I can't work it all out myself. Please answer back about whether or not you might make a tab book in the forseeable future. It would be insane. Cheers!
Reference "Demonic Trance" from Troy Grady interview the other day: Oh man!!! Joe, you are the wickedest guitar sorcerer in this solar system for sure, a SIC raptor-angel of demented melodies, who eats and craps demons for exlosive energy bursts, sent by a white bearded God in the clouds with a wrathful staff and hot poker for the humanity that sleeps and slumbers in lethargy in need a sober wake up call! A shear inspiration to those intrigued by the product force multiplier of applied dedication to craft combined with unmatched talent! Joe, I'm buying ten of your next f-ing album - keeping tapping into whatever the hell you are tuned into melodically! Love ya man! Sincerely, MF'er
Hey Mr. Joe Stump I´ve seen you last weekend at the Cave with Alcatrazz, you´were totally on fire, just amazing!! I am that guy who asked you about picking, thanks again for takn time!
I saw Joe for the first time last night at Bleachers in Bristol. Damn. The man has it all covered. Killer playing, great theatrics, and, speed. Lots of speed. Such clean, fast playing. 👍😎🎸🤘
Excellent music as always. A pleasure to see that a metal virtuoso such as yourself in this day and age can has not lost the true meaning of metal. I love all of your songs, and look forward to see what other impressive works of art you will produce. Doing my part to spread word to my gaming community of your talents. Will continue to send them your way.
Hell yeah! Been waiting for this one, it's great to see it done live so well.. Now Staring into the abyss and Tortured soul and I hope the new album will come soon.... :D
Absolutely incredible! Why do Blackmore fans always end up sounding so f-ing awesome? I've watched many thousands of hours of shredders and played my own tally of millions of notes in my pursuit (please watch if you like) - and I must say - Your pedal notes are the best I've heard. Nobody else can move around while keeping the rhythm clean... and like always staggering a sequence to stay ahead of the beat like a slingshot.
I'm 52, been playing since I was 15. First EVH then Yngwie comes along and then Paul Gilbert. Listen to all shredders since then always trying to pick up this or that. Saw Yngwie front row here in Arizona during the Blue Lightning tour, ( and 15 other times in Atlanta since the 80's ). Last couple of years I've revisited Impellitteri and MAB, Vinnie Moore seeing what they're playing lately. Then I remembered from 15 years ago stumbling onto Joe Stump for the first time. Thought he was a mere Malmsteen clone and didn't really listen further. Then just weeks ago I accidentally hit on a Gramm Bonnett gig on RUclips and Joe was on guitar. Heck I said. Let's see about this. Well after that I checked out Joe's bio, saw some instructional stuff with him at Berkeley with one of the head music professors and what the hell happened? I've found another inspiration as to what and how I want to play. Joe " Mother F'n " Stump. Freakin badass. Shred rules supreme.
Yeah, I've first heard of him like 20 years ago, loved The sorcerer's apprentice on the first listen. It did take some time to digest the enormous amounts of shred on some other tunes but I've been hooked ever since. The biggest inspiration, never gets boring and he's getting better and better with every album.
@@jfutach Yep. I'm working very hard to incorporate Joe's playing with mine. I can't believe I can comprehend his style. I'm still a " Beginner " at playing it. Shred rules.
Effortless. I enjoyed watching. The audio quality gets muddy in some busy sections because of how you recorded this video. Though I appreciate it being played in real time to show it's not just 100 takes comped together!
yeah Jeff it`s just a live performance done with a zoom camera , all played in one take , obviously someone could just listen to the record if they wanted a studio quality version of the track , thanks man
That is what i like even more, i can hear some small details, even pick etc and his playing is crazy good. But as you told it shows that it is made from 100 times, would like to see other who are more popular or glorified guitar heroes or new peers to try to do it. In my book this is the best.
Beautiful!!!!! Awesome! Pickup switching is tough enough, but this adds so much accent and dynamics to your tone. Loving it! Are you using a line 6 pod ii? I have one, along with a B-52 100ATT head with no working reverb, tri-recto (copy of a MB) using my Peavey USA 212 Transtube Special as the cab (Has 2x12 Sheffield Speakers). What settings are you using? I can get this sound with just the Peavey by itself since it has more features to shape the tone, and with a working reverb but it still Solid State. Btw, I was going to change my pickups to the Dimarzio YJM copies (The SD Furies suck imo because they're too harsh) but decided that the original factory Fender ones seem to sound more and more beautiful like early Yngwie's tone. Anyways, keep up the great music and playing!
I read a while ago that Joe uses a POD into a Crate amp with a DOD 250 in front. It may have changed though, but his tone is very consistent. I bet he's using one of the Marshall models.
tuning up an Eb players' music audio file sharp by 18 cents on Riff Station is interesting, same as A4 432 conversion to standard tuning. Eb players are possibly more perceptive to this striking difference. Its closer to a more geometrically perfect form, mathematically than A4 440 tuning. Anyone with a valid counter argument theoretically speaking, this question has been bugging me lately, give it your best quick shot.
Joe you need to seriously make either a guitar tab sheet music book or a downloadable pdf file. Come on man, i cant find any good guitar tabs for your songs. This song might be inspired by Yngwie's "krakatau", and the ending had Chris Impellitteri-ish shredding. Awesome, Joe is an amazing player.
