Marwa all cultures are different. In africa its different from other countries. Its not all about food all the time. Thats the culture and we respect that.
@lorraineanderson8730, it's not even about Africa. He needs to be more specific and say "where I come from in Nyabohanse village" Kenya. Because wow, half of the things that leave him shocked or baffled, have nothing to do with Africa but himself. I don't remember cooking a feast for visitors and I don't remember expecting a feast when I'm visiting friends or family and yes, it's per appointment. People are too busy nowadays for one to just rock up and expect to be fed. We need our own space and peace of mind🇿🇦🇿🇦
In Europe and other countries visiting someone doesn’t equate food. In other countries it’s actually disrespectful to cook for someone simply because they have visited. They can offer you either a cold or hot drink maybe with biscuits or cake otherwise nothing. In Africa most people go out of their way to please a visitor even if they can’t afford. In Europe if you show up without an appointment you will not be welcome. People work hard and might be sleeping for a night shift then you just show up? No way.

Viva Africa. In Kenya you come and visit someone we normally cook no matter what a visitor is a blessing you don't know mayb sm1 walked long distance to you. We also buy simple things like sugar, corn flour or rice milk, very normal things used daily but not a must we welcome people rich or poor. That's our culture.

In the USA, guests will normally be offered Water or something to drink like sweet tea, but no food.
In Sweden,too if you visit here without telling them,we will not eat when they are eating

In Europe if u r not invited for lunch or dinner no one will give you food even if you find them eating.they will finish while u r watching.is not like Africa we r different we share even the small we have also with strangers that visit u.

When we were child my mom raised my sister and I in a way that we eat at our home anything and wherever we liked to eat but once we went to visit relatives in their houses
we should not eat only only tea or water if host offered. We should not behave in a way that they feel we are hungry people . 45 minutes or one hour we sat and left . longer than that , it was force on host and we purposely want them to cook for us if we sat more than one hour at their home
My parents also didn’t like to look hungry in people s house .it was unethical for our family to go to house of people and expect we be fed because it means that we don’t have enough food at our house and go to others ‘ house for food .
as your wife said yes , unless we were invited! Then we went on time for having lunch or dinner . But out of blue we never went 8 pm or 12 noon . This behaviour indicated that we purposely wanted to eat in their house which was very disrespectful and kind of forcing host to go to kitchen and cook .
Yes, in many countries in the world people should be invited to stay longer & eat food in others house .

Get a plastic cover for stroller for cold windy days keeps baby warm and cozy.
@i am Marwa @Rocacabrera Travel. Just a suggestion on the stroller. When you start to travel you will need something more heavy duty and with the large wheels. It will roll over any and everything.
You only get a meal if invited for lunch or dinner in the US. If not invited you get a drink and maybe some chips.

Here in the UK. Is very respectful! if someone offers you food when you enter into their house, that you accept even if you just try a small amount of tea, coffee, or drink. You don't have to finish all but it's very polite.

In African Culture if someone is aware you are visiting they must feed you! Its just part of our culture to be hospital, they will offer you food. No timing involved! Infact as A Nigerian woman it's it's a joy to host my guests. Rocio can you cope because Marwas visitors will expect food it's our African culture. No matter what they have if you are expected you will be offered food. Even if you aren't they will still try and go out of their way to offer you something. Rocio take note Thats the way it's done in Africa you should have observed that. As an African woman i personally fiind it very strange i think it's bad hospitality when you aren't offered anything especially when expected.

The issue you mentioned about food when you visit someone, what you see Argentina is the same here in Kenya. I think you have not realized in Urban areas in Kenya is different from the village. You are currently in a city and many things are similar to Nairobi as opposed to Nyabohanse
