Glad you found my old review of it! And even happier you're still using one! PS _ you might enjoy my Dino Bytes channel where I review older digital cameras.
Thanks! It takes a long time to answer all the questions, but if I can help, I always try... thanks for referring people to the Cameralabs website - make sure they see our full reviews there as the videos here are just brief overviews...
Between 150 and 300 shots under typical conditions - closer to 150 if you use the stabilisation, video and play back lots of images. See the review at the Cameralabs website for more details. I may do the S600 in the future...
Hi, we have a detailed comparison of the features between the 450D / XSi and 40D - plus other cameras - in our Canon 450D / XSI preview at the Cameralabs website!
By that I mean you'd need to reduce the resolution by a very large amount to see any benefit noise-wise. And that's only if the camera was intelligent enough to know it could 'bin' adjacent pixels to increase sensitivity. I don't know if the FX35 will do this.
You might find the manual online. Otherwise go into a shop which sells one with the english menus and press the same buttons to get to the langauge page to change it.
I just got the DMC-FX38 the other day and have bin havin a blast wit it,its got all the bells and whistles but have been now trying to get down to the nitty gritty with manual mode and messin round with settings, I realise that it is still justa compact camera, but I been snapping some nice and creative photos.will have to put up some video of it.this is my first lumix, it came highly recomended by most of the shops I looked at, what with the feature set, aswell as the 25mm super wide leica lens
i love your reviews...I bought an Ixus 860is and the screen broke but movie was great...see my Vienna Cure vid...and Pany was a disappointment...now waiting for ixus 85is.
thehomeboy, You have mistaken. The 450D and 40D have identical 3" LCD screents. Also, the 450D has longer battery life than the 40D. The AF speed and reliabilty depends on your LENS not the camera. Please get your facts straight before you post a deceptive comment. People don't get fooled that easily. Regardless, both are great cameras.
There is a menu icon you need to click on. It's a picture of a head with a comic book sort of bubble over it. (you know the bubble that contains characters words when they speak?)
excellent review and very very helpful site, thanks! (gonna give this camera a try... i'm sure the audio isn't _that_ bad for an ultra compact camera that also does HD videos...)
The 40D also got a much larger and brighter viewfinder. Better battery than the 450D. Faster and more reliable AF. Higher ISO possibilities. And more advanced settings.
To be honest, I have never zoomed whilst using a camera's video mode - when youre watching it back it tends to make the viewer feel quite sick - like if you pan around too much.
great review , i was looking for a review for the FX75 but i couldnt find one so i hoped it was like this but better, i hope im not wrong . by the way well dont for holding your hand up for 10 minuets, good endurance haha
Sorry I've not seen this camera for 15 years, but try searching for Lumix FX35 AC adapter and see what the output spec is, then find a matching supply.
Actually component does not support 720p. If your TV supports the .mov (Quicktime) -format you can watch it off the card. Panasonic's own plasma TV does not! That's disappointing! I guess you can convert the video into a Bul-Ray format if you have such a player.
Well the 450D has a 1/4000 sec shutter speed at 3 fps while the 40D gas a 1/8000 sec shutter speed at 6 fps. The 450d has a smaller form factor, 12mp sensor and improved battery life. If ultra-fast shutter speed and burst rate is important to you, then get a 40d. Otherwise, buy a 450D. Realistically, how often will you use a 1/8000 shutter speed anyways? Probably never!
as far as I read.... only more mega pixels and some 2 features in the liveview.... 40D is faster more reliable (weather & shock resistant) and CF card instead of SD
40D HAS the DigicIII chipset too slower shutter? I don't follow you on that... 40D can push up too 1/8000th sec shutter speed and 30sec exposure.... which can be useful in really bloody shiny days, or in night pictures. your "improved" battery life comes from the DigicIII cpu mostly, and low power and quantity DDR2 memory
i bought this on saturday and took it back on Monday...the pics adn movie are great but the AUDIO IS SOOOOOO POOOR...not worth it...im sticking with the Ixus 85is

Thanks for finding my old video!

The boat goes past every two hours and I think it looks nice! So I always wait for it when filming that segment!

Sadly you'd need to greatly reduce the resolution in order to see any benefit on noise levels.
Hi, I hope to do the F100fd and S100FS when Fujifilm send me models to test...
Yep, the audio isn't very good on it - I mentioned this in our full review at the Cameralabs website.
Yes I do, and in the surrounding area...

Actually, component DOES support 720p, and technically can support 1080- as well, although not on this camera.
It doesn't have an HDMI port, only component output - but yes, you can use this to watch movies in 720p on an HDTV.
this was really helpful, my camera can't be switched to the English language and I was having a lot of difficulty because of it. Thankyou so much!
Check out the verdict page of my FX35 review at cameralabs . com - I've compared them there...
Yes definitely.

25mm on a compact is almost no less than a revolution ;) Takes away some of the reason to have an SLR with an extreme wide angle lens. Great review
Do you mean dropping it? Nope! The only camera I've done that for is the Olympus 790 SW - see our video!
Hi, just wondering do you do all your reviews in queenstown??

Can this camera take a video? If so can you tell me how to do this please.
If it can I would show you in the review
What cable do I use for the DC input on the side with the other ports?

@@cameralabs Ive been using mine for making little movies, thanks! instantly found it!
Press and hold [Q menu] while recording and the setup menu should come up. Then just scroll down till you see the little face.
Do you know how to change the language?
Thanks for this, was very useful.
Peter
How to change the language sir?
In the setup menu
Sorry, I haven't reviewed it, so can't comment!
