nah, they should've put more levels in x5 and up due to the fact you could switch characters, break the formula and have 16 bosses where half are easier with one character than the other.
@@thomaslabrum8182 honestly think this would be really cool. I also kind of wish there were only 4 capsules instead of 8 and you need 2 for an armor rather than 4
@@justinschmelzel8806 i would love to be able to mix and match armor pieces and chips, and instead of subtanks and hearts make the armors have different levels of damage, damage reduction, mobility, weapon energy and effect, and energy capacity, with set bonuses to encourage similar piece sets, and do the scavenger hunt for the enhancing chips and capsules.
My personal favorite is X1. I bought a snes not that long ago to play it on the real hardware. Can't count how many times I've 100% it. X4 is my second favorite. Getting to play as zero with his abilities is just so satisfying to pull off. Anyways, great video. Keep it up!
NGL I'd put X6 top 3 for me between like, X2, X6, X3. Those 3 I like the most. I like X6 for its unique storyline, and challenging difficulty (but that you can also bypass if you know the cheese strats which I love because they are BROKEN) X5 i used to rate higher but ehh i dont like it much anymore
X4 is absolutely the best Mega Man game ever. It was actually the first Mega Man game I've payed, remember renting it from Blockbuster for PS1 and I loved it!!
It for sure is a great entry worth if it’s acclaim. If X5 & 6 were handled the same way they’d be right up there. I blame Capcoms CEOs more than the Developers. They had made them rush X6 which has some good ideas but it is heavily flawed. The issue I have with it are the Nightmare effects. The spot light effect sucks hard. X5 - is my 5th favorite and the only issue I have with it is Alias interruptions & how obtuse getting upgrade Parts is.
This is exactly how I would rank my Mega Man X games. You explained & did it so perfectly of how I summed up with these games. If I had to pick the top 3 best & worst X games, it would go below this comment. Top 3 best X games are X1, X2 & X4. Top worst X games are X3, X6 & X7. X5 & X8 are what I considered good, but not as amazing as X1, X2 & X4. But still better than X3, X6 & X7.
I'm probably a psychopath or something because my favorites are x8 and x5... I guess the one thing I have in my defense is that those 2 were my first megaman games (x8 was my very first)
I think that attachment boosts the games for each of us. My first Mega Man was MM8 in the Classic series. Lots of people hate it (both online and irl friends that I've seen rage because of certain levels), but I will forever love it. It was one of the first "difficult" games I beat by myself when I was 8 years old. I think it's the process of trying each stage and boss, without looking online, and figuring out how to beat it that makes even these flawed games our favorites.
X1 is one of those few games where I can keep playing to 100% from the beginning and not get bored. I used to struggle badly when I first played but now I love it
I know one dude who is an absolute beast at every megaman x game, one of the best in the x Challenge leaderboards, he got scoring world records yet he doesnt care enough to submit them, he on multiple times casually beats the current world record speedrun for x challenge without even trying, just playing casually, he's that good yet he doesnt care about competing. To the point where he got no favorites, likes X1 to X8 all the same, even X7 he plays regularly and loves everything about X7 and at the same level as the others. Hes not well known though but he humbled me on how to learn to genuinely enjoy games even when they are terrible
@@Brianycus No he's not. X3 is that guy. X4 is mid. So much annoying crap especially the biking stages. They're only fun the first time and rather annoying subsequently. Come to think of it, I can't recall any of its music nor it's special weapons off the top of my head, unlike the original X trilogy. But above all else: story. OH MY GOD how it DROPS the ball on story execution. What was a serious take on living machines (that your brain could fill in the details for) became a literal laughingstock with it's horrific anime cliche FMV delivery. This is when Mega Man jumped the shark. This is the story that killed Mega Man's long term cultural potential to remain relevant on the classic discussion of living machines. "WHA AM I FIGHTING FORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

X4 was my first game. Megaman franchise was such a mystery to us back then. We played only the classic series' megaman 3 and then megaman x4 in windows in cyber cafes. Computers were a rarity back then. Unfortunately there was no music in the game. Only the music that played when you select the boss.

There's something special about X4, I remember playing it as a kid over and over and then when the legacy collection came out in ps4. My top 5 X4 X1 X2 X3 X5
In all honesty, I prefer X6 to X5. X6 is broken, but X5 is boring. X5's Mavericks are (almost) X4 all over again, but worse. My fav is X2. It's way to easy in my opinion, but expanded X1 a lot. I love how I can start from almost any stage and 100% the game without replay them (except for Ostrich and Moth, that you need Gator's weapon). Also, best buster ever. X4 is I have some mix feelings right now. It's an incredibke game, top 3 contender (X1 is top2). But as time goes by I have noticed... Damn, X4 weapons sux (for X). They are not fun to use and for me that"s a big deal. And I was wondering why Capcom went from X6 to X8. Where's X7?? No, that game never happen. It's a mass delusion.
For me personally, X5 is below X6 and X7, and it's mostly because Alia does not shut the hell up. Every time I'm going through a stage only to be stopped dead in my tracks to have some fairly obvious information shoved down my throat, it's rather jarring, and the frequency with which it happens kills any sense of fun or enjoyment I might otherwise have with the game. X6 and X7 might be technically worse games, but at least I can play them at my own pace.
So a question, when you say Iris is one of your favourite characters, why is that? She has barely any screen time, she doesn't fight or is shown in any action, what makes her one of your fav characters other than design in some static images?
I like her design and the more I replayed X4, the more I paid attention to her as a character. She really loved her brother and Zero and wanted the two to stop fighting. This is also explained in the Manga they did for X4 too.
@@Brianycus from a "not having read the manga for context" pov, iris is a sloppy AF character, pretty much the same with double, their motivations are basic AF, personalities are bland, and why zero likes her only makes sense only from a thirsty pov.
I always feel so validated when I hear someone say X4 is their favorite 🥹 Yes the voice acting was awful, but everything else was so great that it doesn't even matter in my opinion
I love the X Games I do agree with your rankings. X4 is my favorite and even my friends who don't play mega man but grew up with me even talk about X4 because it's that great.
I like X4 but I don't think the level design in that game is quite good at all. Nobody talks about it? I'm wondering how it's just me that thinks this. Like its so simple. Some levels, like web spider, are so straight forward and short and you don't really need to fight the enemies to get through most of it. When I first beat web spiders level, which was the first X4 level I played, I was like "That's it?" Eveything about the game is good but I think the level design holds it back a little bit. There's fun to be had but its so easy and simple that I just felt very unsatisfied with the levels after beating them but X5 was the opposite. The levels and gameplay to me was so much better but it was held back by other stupid desisions like not being able to turn off Alia. I prefer X5 to X4 only because X4 is way too easy. Like I'm someone that sucks at megaman games and I beat it without really trying until final weapon. I just don't like that. No other megaman game is that easy to me. Not one.
X4 is the better one because it has enjoyable and insane replay value because of how balanced the stages are. They're not easy but they have their difficulties in some, but it adds to the idea of starting a route and committing to it. X5 has pretty good stages but you can argue that's because of X4's attempt of making them as larger and more dynamic.
X8 was really good but the auto scroller parts were just pure suffering. Still my most beloved game, specially when i went rare metal hunting with the new blond navigator.
Mega Man x games has the best soundtracks or at least the GameCube version did. mega Man x sigma stage, mega Man X2 sigma boss fight, mega Man X3 vile theme, mega Man X4 the boss battle. Mega Man X5 that one sigma stage will you replay all the bosses has a sick theme sing like you're at a Japanese night club, X6 mega Man x versus nightmare theme. I am not familiar with seven or eight 🤔. I got a ton of problems with Capcom but the one thing they did it right on is music 🎶
I need to replay the whole series again some time to see if my takes on the games still hold up. X1) Perfect. I genuinely can't think of any flaws offhand. And no, this wasn't my childhood game, that would be X6. The weapons, the armor, the upgrades, the dash feature and wall jump being added, the music, and even the little things like how some stages change if you beat another stage before it. That last part didn't have to be there, the game would be great even without it, but Capcom added it and went ALL OUT with it, so much so that it literally changes an entire mid-boss fight (the Spark Mandrill one loses an entire attack pattern) X2) Solid sequel. I don't feel it's better than X1, but it's right up there alongside it. X3) I hate this game. You take SO MUCH DAMAGE from EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY the bosses. Game is just way too hard, and the final boss can die in a fire. NO boss should have a hitbox THAT small. Then comes that stupid climbing section... Yeah, screw this game. Only thing it has going for it imho is the music and those cool animated boss intros. First real attempt to give the bosses a personality instead of just some robot you gotta kill, and I appreciate that. X4) ALMOST perfect. I rate this 2nd overall for two main reasons: One, the story is TRASH. The worst in the X series. It's two sides of a conflict being stupid. The hunters see something go down, the Repliforce just happens to be in the area, the hunters want to question them for it, they say no and are too prideful and stupid to just go along and clear their names, hunters label them Mavericks, and all out war ensues. Oh, and Sigma once again pulls some strings. All it took was for one side to not be stupid and the whole war could've been avoided. Even X7 had a better story. At least there was a purpose for everything that happened. X6, for as much as people gripe about it, had a better story and a villain with better motivations. Number two is the boss fight against the giant robot. "General" I think. Takes way too long and isn't fun at all. That said, it's still #2 in the series to me, as the rest is flawless. X5) Bad. I don't know why people paint this up as mid-tier. It isn't. Ending based on RNG, Duff McWhalen stage and bossfight, Squid Adler stage, and anything else is...honestly forgettable. Plus the game goes way too far on the nostalgia-baiting. The final level bosses, the final level with the level design-copying of Bubble Man stage, the Skyver copying half of Storm Eagle's attacks...I get it, it was supposed to be the end of the series, so a few callbacks is cool, but I see it the same way I do in Sonic Mania: A couple times is cute, a dozen times gets old and unoriginal. X6) Unfairly hated. It has major flaws and I can see why people dislike it, but to me, it's middle of the pack, at least once you know the game decently enough. First-time players who never play it again calling it one of the worst I get though, it is NOT beginner-friendly... My issue is people will gripe about bad levels in X6 (and there are plenty, the worst being Metal Shark Player imho) but either ignore the good stages or pretend like other games don't have massive level design flaws, ESPEICALLY when compared to X5. With the Nightmare stuff...they tried. I give credit for trying to change up things to avoid looking stale, they just handled it poorly in areas. Same with the rescue system, which say what you want about it, X6 did it best as opposed to the way X5 and X7 handled it. Just wish there was a way to better explain what ones matter more or just not have vital parts and life-ups be held by certain ones, especially the ones that are directly under the Nightmare creatures. There should have been some purifying shot or part or instead of losing the Reploid forever, have a way to either die and come back or something. The one in the Weapons Center is the worst though... I do at least appreciate the two sets of armor and how you need one to get the other, although the armor pieces not doing anything by themselves is dumb. And yes, the final stages having that one gap you can't cross without a certain armor or part is also dumb. So is needing SO MANY collectibles to be able to equip parts (but the game did give you an easier way to grind with Dynamo giving you 600 in a boss fight if you use his weakness) The game can be VERY grindy in order to 100%. I dunno, I still enjoy it, especially if you use Black Armor Zero, then you're just death and can shred the game is record time. Also, Gate is a great secondary antagonist with solid motivations, and the robot masters all mostly have good reasons to fight, either to defend Gate as their "new objective" or self-defense because they were betrayed once already. Also the story does a good job connecting Alia to the plot and showing the hunters aren't virtuous saints and have done some messed up stuff, seemingly all to spite Gate or to erase those they deem a threat due to being too strong or ambitious for knowledge or power. Then of course, the music, which even the biggest haters love. To me, the game is waaaaay better than people give it credit for, but I'm probably biased. Oh, and the worst complaint by haters is the translation. You know what they mean to say, quit acting like it's Zero Wing-levels of bad, it's the same kind of nitpicky nonsense as when Pokemon Sword and Shield haters cried about the graphics of a tree. If something that unimportant and insignificant to the overall experience is enough to ruin a game for you, stop playing games. But to conclude, the enjoyment I get from X6 is just more than a few of the other games, regardless of the flaws. I could genuinely write paragraph after paragraph covering every stage and such in great detail, but this is already going one much longer than every other explanation, so I won't. X7) lol EDIT: Ok, to elaborate, slow, you have to unlock X as you said, the boss fights suck, the levels suck, the rescue system sucks, the voice acting and repeated lines by bosses and the "can you hear me?" prompts suck and are annoying... Other than some of the story elements, what does this game get right? Only standout to me in the positive is the Graveyard design when you refight everyone and have to go to their gravesites and enter their arena inside their tombstones. THAT'S actually cool, and so is the zombie-like look and such they all get in that cutscene. It also gave Red solid motivation to fight X and the hunters...to save his friends. Now the actual fight against Red can die in a fire, but at least the buildup was nice. Take away some of the story and design pieces and there's nothing here but a slow, painful heap. I genuinely don't understand how any Megaman fan who isn't blinded by nostalgia can see this game as anything but the absolute worst in the X series, possibly the franchise as a whole. X8) I hate this game. 100%ing is a nightmare and some levels take 3 or 4 playthroughs to do so, some of the boss fights are just unfair, and the level design is trash in some areas (the rooster level for example) I don't remember a ton about the game, I just remember it being a miserable experience from start to finish, especially the final boss fights. The insane difficulty of 100%ing is enough for me though. My preferences: S) X1, X4 A) X2 B) X6 C) X5 D) X3, X8 Worthless) X7
Pure fun factor I like x6 over x4 and x5, x6 is just fun bs while x4 is a slog and x5 moreso, I know objectively x5 and x4 are better games but I like playing x6 most
I have always found x4 and x1 to both be a little over rated as part of the franchise. In 4 the voice acting wasn't good and the story was better than 3 but was not quite as good as what we saw with 1, 2 or 5. X original is good but I feel 2 really improved on almost everything from the first game. Personally my S tier is 2 and 8 and my A is 5 and 1. With 4 dropping down to my B. And I know most would disagree.
@@Brianycus I am sure I will get hate, but I had to say it. I believe a big part of the love for x4 comes from a preference for zero over x. X5 drops because of alia interuptions and because those that prefer zero over x may lose the ability to play zero. Zero's story in x4 is masterfully done and he is intertwined with the conflict perfectly. X's story is very average and isn't nearly as connected to the other characters of the game he is an after thought in the story of his own game. X5 and 3 both characters are intertwined with each other and x1 and 2 really feel like x's story of an underdog growing into a legendary hero. X8 has a beautiful balance between all 3 characters, axel's past that is shaping the future, zero feels like the focused veteran and x the veteran hero still struggling with and concerned with the right and wrong of everything. Usually hate bike levels but x8 actually does bike level amazing, making it feel like an arcade shooter level which is a wonderful way to change the pace of the game. X5, as horrible as that section is only lasts 1/4th of the stage while x4's bike level is an entire level of horrible bike for me. Now we will 100% see someone tear into me for this lol. Edit: honestly with how disconnected X is from the story in X4 I almost don't even think of it as a megaman x game as much as it is a zero game. Just an example of an alteration that could have been done to balance the stories for the 2 characters. Give x Iris and zero double. X would get the connections with colonel and iris and the conflict of why he is fighting which is the hallmark of X's character throughout the series. Meanwhile, zero's story could focus even more on his origins as the "original maverick" you could even make zero doubt whether double was a real betrayal or the old virus creeping up playing tricks on his mind. Could be a great story for both characters. Instead zero gets all the story beats and x is just there for the ride.
Yeah, you're saying a platformer game is worse because of english voice acting and story. It's not really hard to see the problem with that argument. But your favorites can be any, of course.
@@uandresbrito5685 Slightly worse. They are all great at the jump and shoot aspects. When we get to the point of nitpicking something has to make something worse and something better.
@@justinschmelzel8806 It's not slightly. There are several differences from level design, enemy positioning, resources, boss battles, etc. that make X1, X2 and X4 stand out. You must really not care much about these to say it's"slightly" just because the controls are the same. Edit: X2 instead of X4 again
Not true for xtreme 2 as many stages are different then the originals, if not all of them. So that point of reusing is wrong. Xtreme one is totally guilty however
I don't think X7 is a good game, but I don't think it's as terrible as everyone makes it out to be. Most reviewers just bash this game and make it sound much worse than it is, and I think Projared started it. His review has the most views out of any MMX7 content I can find, and it's also the oldest, and I feel like that kind of started the bandwagon of mostly negative reviews. X7 is pretty much a meme at this point. One of the big complaints is how Alia, apparently, is always calling you, when that's not completely true. There's only certain points in the stage where she calls you, and once you leave that spot (which takes less than 2 seconds) the calling goes away. Reviewers make it seem like it happens constantly for the entire stage, when in reality it doesn't, so people unaware of this just assume it's always happening. Another thing is the English dub, it's not the original Japanese team's fault that the US team hired terrible actors, so for me, it's not an actual flaw with the game or gameplay. I also don't hold it against X4 or the translation for X6 - that's the US team's fault. Actually flaws in X7 for me are: Movement speed feels too slow compared to X-X6. Out of the 24 special weapons, only about 4 are useful. Axl and X are basically the same characters, so X is basically a new model for Axl that can charge and use Armors, and there's no need to use Axl after unlocking X. There's a lot of waiting in boss fights. The stages are boring and nothing happens in them. And 100% is just boring
A couple of things: Alia ALWAYS calls on you no matter where you at in the state's progress. Every half way point in the acts she calls you on the transmitter and it gets aggravating. The English dub does suck especially when the Japanese dub is good for this game. The rest I agree with you
The Zero side of things were super fun for sure, but X was also as fun to play in this game that is called Mega Man X4. He proivdes the standards, paired with the Fourth Armor's upgrades, and you have a soild time. It's not boring. @@thomaslabrum8182
same, x4 just feels like it plays itself and gets really boring on replays. Also the music is wayy too repetitive with synths everywhere (kinda like megaman 11)
X7 was the worst of the bunch. X8 was mediocre, X6 was good but unforgiving. X5 is good depending on what difficulty you’re playing in. X4 is the best of the ps one genre. X1 is the best in the snes era. It be really cool if X9, X10, X11 happened but with Dynamo as the main villain since Sigma is dead.
Dynamo as a villain wouldn't work because Dynamo was a man for hire. He did his job and dipped out because he had nothing else to do after the fact. But it would be nice if he returned.
Tf i dont get it. In terms of difficulty i found X4 much harder than X3. I never completed that last Sigma battle in X4. I loved X3 though. It had just the right difficulty for me
X6 was a bunch of bullshit level design wise but for SOME REASON its something thats pulling. And the music and atmosphere is great. Id say its B overall. Especially its weird story choices. But a strong B.
X6 is pulling because it has the basis of the previous games in terms of aesthetics and level design. How they used it was rushed and ended up being the way that it is. Which is for me, it's a C
Here are my rankings: Mega Man X = Perfect Mega Man X2 = Wonderful Mega Man X3 = Best X Game Ever Mega Man X4 = Perfect Mega Man X5 = Great Mega Man X6 = Awful Mega Man X7 = Worst X Game Ever Mega Man X8 = Great Mega Man Xtreme = Good Mega Man Xtreme 2 = Good
You totally clickbaited by showing X6 as S tier in the thumbnail and then saying it was C tier. Not good man. Anyways, X6 is in fact S tier for me. It’s the only one that really kept me on my toes. X3 is on the other hand D tier for me. Such a tedious slog of a game. I don’t understand what people see in that game.
I will admit the clickbait was hard, but it was the only means to get people to watch and engage. Plus technically I could be right too depending on who you ask.
An F tier would definitelly been warranted, if only for X7. I won't say anything about your placements as its your opinion (and your rankings are quite mainstream) The idea of "third party syndrome" feels a bit funny though as I always think about how good MMV/World 5, 9 and 10 are (Mega Man V was actually made by the same people as X3!), with 9 and 10 being the pinnacle of classic Mega Man and Capcom made the worst X games themselves. Though then I realised there examples of weak games outsourced to different people from the classic series (DOS and Gamegear being the worst) That aside I'm in the minority that likes X3 the most out of all of them.
I know it's your list, but why am I not surprised you went easy on X8. X8 is fine but it gets away with the "it's not as crappy as X7" excuse WAY too much. Also, X8 looks ridiculously bad for a PS2 game. Yeah, I get it ain't going to look like Valkyrie Profile 2 which was a looker at the time but still. I love the franchise but given Capcom's failures it somewhat of deserves to be dead - kind of like Sony's Wild Arms. Do check out Gravity Circuit tho; maybe Domesticated Ants can avoid destroying their possible dubbing franchise in the same way.
X8 looks miles better than X7 in the graphics department and even if it has crap graphics, the movement and controls of the characters are still leagues better. Armor parts were good to use. Zero felt SO MUCH BETTER to play and Axl had a better chance to be a better character to play as. The Metal Collection was fun but of course it was too much and the music is God tier. Thats enough for an A-Tier for anyone really. Also I really want to play Gravity Circuit for the channel! I'm just waiting to see your reception on my 30XX review I have for YT Members ATM.
I played x8 and didn't like the movement, too slow, no crouch? like whaaat? the characters look bland, the first 5 games had a feeling of desperation, anger towards the mavericks, it inspired me to fight, from x6 and on it lost that feeling to "save the world"...to me X5 had really good bangers, X2 has to be S tier because it improved over the first game, X3... I really like X3 but the level design doesn't help to fully use the upgrades and the music although great! the loops are way too short, Ironically I haven't played X4, I was about to but I tried X8 instead 🤮... X1 I mean is X1, is the "purest" form of megaman X, X6 was soft on the music, the level design chaotic and the difficulty way to hard but I found it enjoyable tbh, X7? lol that one I rather not play it so I won't feel disappointed 😂 I mean I first played X1 like 24 years ago! lol
I'm not gonna lie, I have a hot take of my own here: I think there was the framework for something good in X7. I actually liked the story for what it was worth, the biggest problem being X himself of course, and while that part is unforgivable (in my opinion), the rest is reasonably solid and just needed a bit more fleshing out. I haven't actually played the game myself, but I had a lot of fun watching a playthrough because it sometimes hit "so bad it's good" tier for me, especially with the voice acting... ...so if you genuinely like X7, I have nothing but respect for you. It's hard to appreciate something that everyone else hates - this is something I deal with myself as an X8 fan.
It's not that fun especially doppler 2 with the hard as balls enemies. And the backtracking feels like padding like for example: the heart tank in Gravity Beetle can only be unlocked if you beat Blast Hornet, but his weakness is Gravity Well. But if you go fight Blast hornet first you have to fight a dumb filler boss where you break crates for a whole minute
For me, it's this S: X2, X1 A: X4, X6 B: X8 C: X5 D: X3 F: X7 (NG+ mode only, I refuse to play this game without the enhancement upgrade. And on the JP version's damage value no less.) Pacing played a big value in my scoring, the overall immersion of the game affected how much I enjoyed the game. X3 had many good ideas, but terrible execution, Zero's 1 time summon pre-stages, tedious item backtracking, unusable Ride Armors until you got Chimera (even then the Ride Armor felt like an afterthought to the game, aside from item collecting, there's very limited gameplay section where they're used), you can't get the Hyper Chip in Doppler stage 1 if you got any upgrade chip red capsule/ can't get Z-saber if you don't kill Vile before Doppler stage 2. The 8 Mavericks had an unnecessarily long invincible frame. Especially when hit with their weakness. And the damage value, sheesh, why do normal enemies do so much damage? The romhack mod Zero Project made the game much more enjoyable. Enough that I would boost it to a low B. X5, despite being a decent playable game, had a horrible pacing issue, Alia's continuous interruption, thus it ended on the low tier solely due to the sluggish immersion pace. And tedious item collection backtracking, the arbitrary choice of Armor unusable before full collection, and the never-explained Chip parts development requirement. Are not helping the already low opinion. However, if we include the fan-made improvement addendum mod, where many aforementioned issues got addressed, I would put X5 in high B, above X8. X8, it's a fast-paced game, perhaps too fast for my liking, I don't know how to explain it, but I never get used to its physical movement. But aside from that, solid game. My biggest nitpick would be the damage cap that was put on the Bosses, and you can't continuously damage them unless they finish their desperation move. It made every boss fight feel like a dragging on. The worst had to be the collection game. The backtracking and tedious money grinding, Burn Rooster, and Dark Mantis stages are the worst offenders of all. Where you're forced to come twice, each time with X&Zero, and X&Axl to get everything (assuming you had the needed weapon and tool), heck, even the intro stage forced you a backtrack so you can collect X's armor. But if you purposefully do a low% no-backtrack challenge, the pacing becomes much tolerable. Overall, the chore-like item collection forced me to drop it at B-tier. X6 was a guilty pleasure for me, I used to despise it, but after learning all the game-breaking glitches, the game became so much fun. Of course, still doesn't excuse it for the rushed and undercooked level designs. (since the game was not designed fairly, why bother playing fair?) I'm sure anyone who stumbles upon this video already is aware of the more famous critics' analysis of X6, so I'll skip repeating the same thing. The X series all had the "it can be fun if you know what you're doing." thing going. (Excluded X7, there's no salvage of that burning pile of garbage.) X6 was fun if you know how to exploit it and break it apart. (Excluded Nightmare Mother, Himax, and Gate fight.) For myself, the X6 Tweak Patch mod boosts it to the top S tier, highly recommend playing the game with this mod version. X4, quite honestly, I'm pretty indifferent to this one. I wouldn't say it's overrated, but I think it could benefit more had it just gotten a little bit more time in the oven. To me, X4 was super short. The end game part especially. Of course, one may argue the game was very action-packed, but I would say it perhaps rushed too much. The 8 Mavericks were paced well, but the final part went like a blink and was over before you know it. The confrontation with Double, Iris was so quick, there was no room to develop their character. Idk, since the gameplay was already peaked, the only thing that could improved is the story I guess. X1 is a very well-rounded experience, the pacing may be sluggish for the intro since you don't have dash ability, but the game was purposefully designed so that you can beat the other 7 Mavericks stage without the dash. (albeit, boss fight becomes a pain) As for the endgame, Sigma stages were hard but fair, albeit Rangda Bangda and Final Sigma made me want to rip my hair. I don't have much to say about X1. Finally, X2 improved so much on X1, stages were great, and bosses were challenging but fair (But I despise Wheel Alligator, mf wastes so much time hidden in the oil-water) The X-Hunter was a fun additional optional challenge the player could do, especially if you happened to have the right stage effect on Silk Shot. But Serges Tank was a pain in the ass to deal with. In comparison, Zero, and Neo Sigma we're challenging to fight, but they're manageable once you find the tempo. If there's anything I must criticize for, Sigma Virus being immune to anything aside from Strike Chain and Charge shot made the fight drag on for too long.
It sucks because x4 was the last good megaman x game on the playstation. I mean just listen to magma dragoons zone theme its a head banger just like the old x1 x2 songs. Or listen to storm owl. Now compare it to the boring environments and stock music in the later games after x4
X6 is an unspeakable horror. Its only good parts were story and ost. But is so not fun and horrendously terrible. The difficulty is ranked up so high its just dumb. And worst off, it isnt fun enough to keep playing and getting better. Not to mention none of the others were so had i didnt get decent at them. Actually x7 is about 100000000x better than x6. That is how bad x6 is.
I can understand how you feel because I felt that way too but I can play X6 more times than X7. Because as broken as X6 is, it is way FASTER than X7 in terms of pacing.
For me: S Tier: X4 A Tier: X and X2 B Tier: X3 and X6 C Tier X5 (anyone that puts X5 as a top 3 game is a Zero fanboy) F Tier: X7 Never played X8 or anything after because X7 was so bad and killed the MMX series for me.
Anyways, I got Ace Attorney to cover next..
Megaman X7 is peak
@@limit-trinitybreak2153 it sure is. it sure is,
They should have kept the separate campaigns for X and Zero from X5 all the way to X8, cutscenes and all. X4 felt like two unique, excellent games.
Thats why it was so good as a game. You had two stories that were able to connect towards the end somehow. It was that good of a game.
I disagree, It felt like a good zero game and a tacked on X game in his own series.
nah, they should've put more levels in x5 and up due to the fact you could switch characters, break the formula and have 16 bosses where half are easier with one character than the other.
Keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed! 👏🏼
NGL I'd put X6 top 3 for me between like, X2, X6, X3. Those 3 I like the most. I like X6 for its unique storyline, and challenging difficulty (but that you can also bypass if you know the cheese strats which I love because they are BROKEN)
X5 i used to rate higher but ehh i dont like it much anymore
You know? I can see this. I an totally see this.
X4 is absolutely the best Mega Man game ever. It was actually the first Mega Man game I've payed, remember renting it from Blockbuster for PS1 and I loved it!!
Truly the Peak of MMX 😭
It for sure is a great entry worth if it’s acclaim. If X5 & 6 were handled the same way they’d be right up there.
I blame Capcoms CEOs more than the Developers. They had made them rush X6 which has some good ideas but it is heavily flawed. The issue I have with it are the Nightmare effects. The spot light effect sucks hard.
X5 - is my 5th favorite and the only issue I have with it is Alias interruptions & how obtuse getting upgrade Parts is.
For a second you jumpscared me with X7 on A-tier
My bad 😂
That was him clickbaiting you
This is exactly how I would rank my Mega Man X games.
I guess the one thing I have in my defense is that those 2 were my first megaman games (x8 was my very first)
Each person has their own preferences haha.
I used to struggle badly when I first played but now I love it
X1 just has that ability to grab you the moment the game starts and I wish more games did that
I only played X1-4, but I feel the same. X4 > X1 > X2 > X3
This is still fair
Before I even let you get to the first entry on this list, if MegaMan X3 is not number one on this list, the list is invalid and you are wrong sir!
This list is not objective fam.

X4 was my first game. Megaman franchise was such a mystery to us back then. We played only the classic series' megaman 3 and then megaman x4 in windows in cyber cafes. Computers were a rarity back then. Unfortunately there was no music in the game. Only the music that played when you select the boss.
Thanks for the recap, I missed most of these the first time around. Now, if we could only get the Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection...

X4
X1
X2

X5
Solid top 5
It's a mass delusion.
wholeheartedly agree. x6 keeps me on my toes with it's kaizo-game difficulty, while x5 just puts me to sleep.
In X6 you can decide to listen to Alia! X5 she interrupts the game to say that it may be a good ideia to jump the hole. That sums it all.
@alissonaxl yeah, alia was managed best in x6. it's just a beep, nothing else. there's no "aXl, cAn yOu hEaR mE?? caN yoU hEAr mE evEryOne???"
This is absolutely fair

I played X1 and X4 a whole lot. Those are my favorite. I still think X4 is the best in the series.
X4 is just that one game that did everything right
Mega Man X1 X2 X3 X4 X5 & X6, are my favourite games in the series they are my teenage hood video games.
I like this answer
Megaman X4 is my favorite.Even challenged my self to do the no-armor X clear and it was fun
No armor runs are amazing
I did a no item run with Zero the other night
This might be the first time I've 100% agreed with a tier list.
Whoa
You were a tad hard on X3. It's about as good as X2. It's not miles away from X1 and X2. The stage design is great and the music is soooo good!
It's about as good, but tier lists are also about the experience. Sometimes with X3, I was annoyed by the difficulty curve it had compared to X1 & X2.
The only thing I really didn't like from x2 was the lack of blue in the completed armor haha
MMX games have BANGER soundtracks
Skyver did have a weakness, the time stop weapon in X5 was his weakness...but in honesty it was a,sad weakness
That last part didn't have to be there, the game would be great even without it, but Capcom added it and went ALL OUT with it, so much so that it literally changes an entire mid-boss fight (the Spark Mandrill one loses an entire attack pattern)
X2) Solid sequel.
X7) lol
EDIT: Ok, to elaborate, slow, you have to unlock X as you said, the boss fights suck, the levels suck, the rescue system sucks, the voice acting and repeated lines by bosses and the "can you hear me?" prompts suck and are annoying...

Maybe. Maybe
As those video grows, I pray the comments don't come after you 👏🏼
@@Brianycus I am sure I will get hate, but I had to say it.

Actually flaws in X7 for me are:
Movement speed feels too slow compared to X-X6.
The rest I agree with you
X4 looks insane on my OLED

I mean this is how I personally feel about each game so I understand why you would say that tbh
@@austinolson265 i think its just a bias thing i have much more memories and nostalgia for X5 more than X4 it's not based on anything
same, x4 just feels like it plays itself and gets really boring on replays. Also the music is wayy too repetitive with synths everywhere (kinda like megaman 11)
MMX, X2, X3 X4 X8 and command Mission.
X 1 and 4 are S
X 2,3,5, and 6 are A
X 7 is D
X 8 is C
Megaman Zero 1-4 are all A+.
Megaman Legends is F
We're not ranking Legends here though 😭
Gaming masterpiece = Megaman X3 and X6
Awesome = Megaman X1 and X8
Good = Megaman X5 and Command Mission X
Neutral = Megaman X2
Bad mediocre = Megaman X7
Garbage = Megaman X4
Okay this has to be bait, but I respect it
If they went with a Ratchet and Clank style for X7 that would have saved the game. A 3d game should be a 3d game not a 2d game in a 3d environment
I don't care what anyone says, I enjoy every x game PERIOD!
Never really got into X4 5 6, the zoomed in screen and big sprites...all the talking...too much. X 1 2 3 feels more action solid!
accurate list
Thanks haha
Tf i dont get it. In terms of difficulty i found X4 much harder than X3. I never completed that last Sigma battle in X4. I loved X3 though. It had just the right difficulty for me
X6 was a bunch of bullshit level design wise but for SOME REASON its something thats pulling. And the music and atmosphere is great. Id say its B overall. Especially its weird story choices. But a strong B.
X6 is pulling because it has the basis of the previous games in terms of aesthetics and level design. How they used it was rushed and ended up being the way that it is. Which is for me, it's a C
Sorry but I will always hate X6 more, 7 I can actually have some fun with.
I can't see it. Out of the time I had the most fun, it was surprisingly with X6.
Best to worst imo:
X4
X1
X2
X3
X5
X8
X7
X6
Here are my rankings:
Mega Man X = Perfect
Mega Man X2 = Wonderful
Mega Man X3 = Best X Game Ever
Mega Man X4 = Perfect
Mega Man X5 = Great
Mega Man X6 = Awful
Mega Man X7 = Worst X Game Ever
Mega Man X8 = Great
Mega Man Xtreme = Good
Mega Man Xtreme 2 = Good
Completely understandable
You totally clickbaited by showing X6 as S tier in the thumbnail and then saying it was C tier. Not good man. Anyways, X6 is in fact S tier for me. It’s the only one that really kept me on my toes. X3 is on the other hand D tier for me. Such a tedious slog of a game. I don’t understand what people see in that game.
I will admit the clickbait was hard, but it was the only means to get people to watch and engage. Plus technically I could be right too depending on who you ask.
X2 > X1 > X4 > X3 > X5. Everything else I didn't play but seems terrible.
Wtf is that thumbnail lmao, X7 A tier, X6 S tier???
Thats right 😃
An F tier would definitelly been warranted, if only for X7.
I won't say anything about your placements as its your opinion (and your rankings are quite mainstream)
The idea of "third party syndrome" feels a bit funny though as I always think about how good MMV/World 5, 9 and 10 are (Mega Man V was actually made by the same people as X3!), with 9 and 10 being the pinnacle of classic Mega Man and Capcom made the worst X games themselves.
Though then I realised there examples of weak games outsourced to different people from the classic series (DOS and Gamegear being the worst)
That aside I'm in the minority that likes X3 the most out of all of them.
Xtreme games are C+/B-
Thats totally fair. I can see it. I think I put them in C, right? I don't remember lmao
X1 I mean is X1, is the "purest" form of megaman X, X6 was soft on the music, the level design chaotic and the difficulty way to hard but I found it enjoyable tbh, X7? lol that one I rather not play it so I won't feel disappointed 😂 I mean I first played X1 like 24 years ago! lol
X4-X8-X2-X1-X3-X5-X6-X7
I am one of the only humans that like meganan x7
Prepare yourself for the comments...
@@gyppygirl2021 i appreciate your comment. X8 is my favoritr but its more well accepted than x7
@@guilhermehx7159 Even more respect!
Nah MegaMan X to X6 is S tier my opinion bc i love the game for what it is, Now rate the original MegaMan!
Gotta review those to do just that!
No mixed feelings here. I hate X6.
Totally fair haha
You kept X8 above X5 you are mad bro X5 is a great game
1st mmx2 2nd mmx1 3rd mmx3 all the rest don't matter
Fair enough haha
X3 top of the list
It's not that fun especially doppler 2 with the hard as balls enemies.
And the backtracking feels like padding like for example: the heart tank in Gravity Beetle can only be unlocked if you beat Blast Hornet, but his weakness is Gravity Well. But if you go fight Blast hornet first you have to fight a dumb filler boss where you break crates for a whole minute
For me, it's this
S: X2, X1
A: X4, X6
B: X8
C: X5
D: X3
F: X7 (NG+ mode only, I refuse to play this game without the enhancement upgrade. And on the JP version's damage value no less.)
Pacing played a big value in my scoring, the overall immersion of the game affected how much I enjoyed the game.
(since the game was not designed fairly, why bother playing fair?)
I'm sure anyone who stumbles upon this video already is aware of the more famous critics' analysis of X6, so I'll skip repeating the same thing.
The X series all had the "it can be fun if you know what you're doing." thing going. (Excluded X7, there's no salvage of that burning pile of garbage.)
X6 was fun if you know how to exploit it and break it apart. (Excluded Nightmare Mother, Himax, and Gate fight.)
For myself, the X6 Tweak Patch mod boosts it to the top S tier, highly recommend playing the game with this mod version.
(albeit, boss fight becomes a pain)
As for the endgame, Sigma stages were hard but fair, albeit Rangda Bangda and Final Sigma made me want to rip my hair. I don't have much to say about X1.
Finally, X2 improved so much on X1, stages were great, and bosses were challenging but fair (But I despise Wheel Alligator, mf wastes so much time hidden in the oil-water)
The X-Hunter was a fun additional optional challenge the player could do, especially if you happened to have the right stage effect on Silk Shot.
X5 in terms or music was great but X4 was great in everything.
Because as broken as X6 is, it is way FASTER than X7 in terms of pacing.
for me x5
S: MMX, MMX 2
A MMX3 MMX4
C MMX8, MMX5
D MMX6
F MMX7
Valid
In X1 and X4 they were inspired by God.
Literally haha
X3 was frustrating and unbalanced
X2 music sucks man, is awful, insanely bad, and i hated the hunters (the oldman robot and monkey robot). Agile is cool tho.
Agile was pretty cool until he turned into some kinda of hairbrush machine idk 😂

X6 is Better than X5, Change my mind
I have two videos for it!
@@Brianycus I guess you might change my mind then...
For me:
S Tier: X4
A Tier: X and X2
B Tier: X3 and X6
C Tier X5 (anyone that puts X5 as a top 3 game is a Zero fanboy)
F Tier: X7
Never played X8 or anything after because X7 was so bad and killed the MMX series for me.
Well if you want to get the X8 experience, my review on it should help.
X6 and X7 beling in F tier. Awful awful games.
X6 was rushed for a holiday release, and it shows.
Yupp
X1 and X3 is peak. X4 is a downgrade from X3. X4 is mid. Better than X2. X5 is better than X4.
I hate you for that misleading thumbnail.
X6 is a sin and deserves to be bottom.
I gotta get you guys to watch. Anyways X6 is nowhere near as bad as X7.
Gotta bring in views somehow
