- Hi Everyone! It is definitely important to research any new type of plant that you plan on growing for the first time. Today we talk about one that I had no idea was VERY dangerous to grow.

Im glad that you research your seeds. It's very responsible and I appreciate that your videos are so informative.
Thank you for letting us know about the hiccama plant. I sure hope that you let Jami know.
Please let Jamie know so she doesn't plant in with all those fur babies
For sure!! Anyone they know that gardens needs to be aware! It's not something that's easily found when you do a quick look up for Jicama. I had to actually look up with "Are Jicama plants poisonous" And then the top answer was YES but just a quick look at jicama didn't show anything about this fact right off!!
That's is good information to know. The leaves of the rhubarb are also toxic, but the stems are quite edible. Always learn your plants. 💖💖💖
Hi Stephanie you’ve been very busy in the garden. The new seedlings 🌱 are doing so well. You must love your new greenhouse to be able to do everything in. Can’t wait to see you veggie garden this year. Lovely to see a batch of eggs especially when yours took so long to lay now giving you lots of yummy eggs. Cannot beat a home fresh egg. Thanks for sharing see you later for the live. Take care and God bless 💕🙏🧑🌾
Thank you for sharing your garden with us. Its fun to watch your veggies and other things grow. And thank you for the update on the poisonious plant too. I love watching your videos. 😊💕
The Jelly on the seeds are what some seeds do before sprouting. put a little dirt over them not much just a little. The gel holds water for them to germinate.
Love Stephanie’s personality, calm smart not loud and cocky.thanks Stephanie for your enjoyable learning videos.🆒🦋😄🩷🥇🩵🇺🇸
Good Morning guy’s hope everything is going well with you all today ❤
Hello Stephanie! Thank you for the info on jiccama. You have a really good start on your garden.
Stephanie, its wonderful how you researched what you plant. Better safe than sorry. What you have going on and growing already is great! Keep up the great work 👍.
Thanks for the heads up on the poisonous plant. I am sure you already told Jami about it.
I like Jicama Steph never knew the plant would be poisonous it must be in the greens. Thank you for the tip on this for us, and to protect your pets but also nature to, agree its to big of a risk, unless under really control area its a no go to me, I will just buy the tuber at the store, its important to do your research did Jami Plant any?Castor Bean plants which are so pretty are very poisonous also people plant and don't know
Dan has a device that will join the wire together so they won't fall. See if he will let you try it❤
Jicama isn't worth the worry. Try kohlrabi instead. It tastes like a cross between cabbage and broccoli and radishes. Wonderful raw. Easy to grow.
Those mushrooms are huge. I didn’t know they got that big.
I think i’ve heard jicama referred to as Mexican turnip. Place I worked in FL carried it as one of their produce items. We got dozens of boxes at a time from Mexico. Delicious in stews.
eaten as a fruit in Mexico, usually with a Tajin (chile/lime) seasoning
You always have good information, Steph! Thanks!
I learned a lot from you today Steph! Are you going to use the same method for the zucchini squash bugs? As a child I lived on 28 acres and I tasted every single plant on the farm and I know that some of them were poisonous now I always wondered why I did that I knew that plants could kill even then but I just tasted them and if I knew it was a good plant I would eat it and show my friends and cousins I had grand adventures in the trees and I am so very grateful for my time there.😊🧡💜🧡
There are cattle panels back where the river brought in trash
Those panels are for fencing that Dan,Jake and Papa are fixing.
@@lindalott8927 no they are not they are too far gone
I love the gardening vids! Thanks for sharing your information!
Sweet potato leaves are tasty like spinach but need longer cooking time.
I agree about researching plants. Lots of fruits and vegetables we grow have poisonous parts. It's more of a problem with small kids and adventurous animals around.
Do you grow rhubarb. I know the leaves can make you sick, but the stem is great in sauces and pies. It comes up every year.
Have you ever grown Thai basil. It's great if you like Thai food. I make pesto out of both regular basil and Thai basil and I has very small containers that I freeze it in.
I also love blue lake green beans. I picked them from vines to make money back in the 1950’s. Then the farmers went to the bush to harvest with machinery.
I love watching you grow all your stuff
I'm so jealous of your and Jami's gardens. I miss being able to grow things. ☘️
It's good to know. Especially when you feed the greens of plants to your animals.
‼️😯Wow, Stephanie, your garden is looking very good. Keep up the great job looking forward when everything is blooming. Thank you for sharing with us.😊‼️
Everything looks great Steph
Steph, I agree with you completely. Some plants may work well for some people, and not so much for others. Everyone is at different stages and places in life. Also, everyone doesn’t have the same taste. For example; rhubarb, I happen to love it while many people don’t. Also consider that the leaves are toxic, while the stems are edible. There are lots of plants that may work well for some, but not others. I think that your example was great and should be wonderful food for thought. Y’all have a blessed day!
Your garden in the greenhouse looks beautiful Steph 🌿🌱🪴
💖❤💘💝💓I love watching your videos, thank you for sharing and have a great day!!!
Love all of those plants you have in your greenhouse, Stephanie 😊👏😍

Nice start to your garden Steph!!! Look forward to harvesting time and all you get!!! Good job!!!
BBQed asparagus, yum! Serve with ranch dressing.
For limas I'll be your best friend! 😊 I love them!
Thank goodness you did research it an sounds like a goodthingto avoid.
I love your greenhouse. We can't plant anything until the middle of June and our growing season is not all that long. You are going to have a great garden as usual.
As always I really enjoyed this video and pleased to learn a lot from you!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Plants looking great as always. I’m trying to stop some of my plants of getting leggy. Did you notice that the laying box on the end, the bottom needs to be nailed up. No chicken would lay in that. If I wrong, sorry for that.
Good morning Stephanie. Q. What kind of green beans did you say you were growing? The one that puts the beans on the outside. 😊❤
Thank you so much Steph for letting us know about that plant Hicama, great research! I would never grow anything that could be of harm or danger to my kids or my dogs (Pets) enjoyed this video. ❤
I love all your plants I'm not starting my plants .but soon ❤
Wow about that jicama 😮 glad i only buy it at grocery store. 2 weeks since i watched you except a live once in a while. Definitely need to watch more.
Glad you found out and decided not to plant it
Oyster mushrooms. What a goldmine!
Thank you for this informative video.
You stopped me from making a big mistake. I love eating Jicama with hot sauce. I didn't know it so defensive. It is frightening that plants can such deadly self defence.
Gmornin' Steph.
I didn’t know this about the jicama plant. I’ve eaten the root but I bought it at the store. I know some farmers grow it here on Guam.
Steph, where did you say you buy your seeds from? Specifically the Green Giant tomatoes. I never see it sold here. I want to try growing it because I want fried green tomatoes so bad 🤤☺️ Stay safe! Great job on your research!
Looks like you're gonna have a good variety in your garden.
Have you ever had powdery mildew on your squash and if you did how do you take care of it or avoid it. Thanks
I love jicama, never knew it was poisonous. Was thinking of trying to grow some..I dont have any pets or children but will think it over. Thank you for the info.
Thank you for the information I did not know that
I’m planting marigolds this year, mostly to ward off 🦌
Very informative...thank you!!
I started basil this year first time ever. I was very confused about that jelly like substance on them too. But mine are growing perfectly so far.
Wow let Jamie know too !!! Also she need to learn from you how to can all her vegetables she going to be growing in her outside garden Leater made for her. 😊
I was going to say there are a lot of common garden plants that people grow all of the time that we can only eat one part of and the rest is poison. Such as potatoes, tomatoes and peppers all being part of a family of plants called deadly night shades. However I can see the issue with the jicama especially if it has bean pods that could be mistaken for other beans, by kids or animals.
Thank you for the great garden info, I’ve learned so much from you and Jami.
I also received my soaps from you and I love the bar shampoo, I was skeptical, but I love it! Thank you!
I had no idea about that. Thanks for sharing
What kind of containers are your little tomatoes seedlings in? They’re very tiny.
Thanks for the info I myself was thinking of growing it for the nutrition factor. Guess I’ll just buy it instead. Wish I had a green house but my option was a greenhouse or a root cellar so I opted on the cellar! Maybe later I will put a greenhouse over the cellar. My grandparents did that back in the 60s!
Not related but I found out my husband's name is the viet symbol for new years TET also apricot blossoms. I am going to try to grow an avocado tree and an apricot tree. You And the others have inspired me.
Your garden looks so good thank you Steph i am learning alot
You share alot of very good information- thx❤❤❤❤❤😊
There are many plants that harm animals.
Darn. I love jicama. But I wouldn’t be able to grow it. Like rhubarb. The leaves are poisonous.
Better to be safe.
Love it..❤
Luv your gardening knowledge & you’re So Lucky your logs can harvest oyster mushrooms 🤗My family loves oyster mushrooms that we buy from Hmart every week. Great video as always 😊
Hi Steph. I have been told by a lot of people depending on what type it is, sage can take forever to germinate. I love sage and want to grow it, but I don't know if it will be worth the time and effort.
Did you say horehound? Are you going to make horehound candy? Talk about childhood memories! That’s what grandma always gave us for a scratchy throat or cough. I love horehound candy!
Thanks for sharing this ❤️🐈⬛🐝🫏🦆🌻🚜
It’s been awhile back, Jami spotted some mushrooms growing on some trees at LHL’s. You might show her yours or ask her about hers, and let her know what kind they are. I’ve never had jicama and knowing it’s poisonous, I’m not sure I would want to grow it. Thanks Steph for your informative and educational videos. Looks like you’re going to have another successful garden. ❤ Sheila T
Stephanie, I bet the Fedex drivers are going to be psyched when they see all those plants hit the soil !!!! 😂❤❤❤❤❤
Great info
Can you educate us (me) on what and why plants bolt and get leggy. Also what to do about it. Thanks
A lot of vegetables are poisonous when raw or prepared wrong
I learn sweet pea flowers 🌸 is toxic to pets ! Climbing one I was shocked
They should label poisonous plants,or ones that can cause rashes, there is lots of plants out there which are not suitable to grow if you have any animals😊
Hello from North Carolina
Good thing you researched the plant first better safe then sorry ,
Ohh my gosh, sad to hear jicama is partially poisonous, but not the fruit itself, I love jicama it’s great in salads sweet and crunchy
Can you get two cattle panel from Pawpaw?
Steph,
Read crystals messages about the seeds at the beginning being
❤( good )❤️
It definitely looks like those basil seeds are moldy.
That chicken made me jump also
I love Anaheim peppers
Rhubarb is also poisonous.
Your Cardinal is adding to your video by saying, “pretty, pretty, pretty “
Did you see the new garden that Lester did for Jamie for Valentine's Day
Tomatoes and potatoes are nightshades and both the plants are toxic except for the specific part that gets eaten. Usually the problematic parts are also foul tasting to discourage herbivores. Cassava and pokeweed are both toxic until properly prepared. Just pointing that out - you should definitely grow what you’re comfortable with. Good luck with the garden.
Eggplant and peppers are in the nightshade family also.
❤❤❤
We're those pelleted maybe
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
