You're absolutely right about the unsatisfying feeling you get after finishing a match. I might have a match where I did really well and then I look at the post-battle screen and I see the amount of RP/SL I made and I think to myself: "Why do I even bother wasting my time on this?". In Air or Ground when you have a really good match you actually get rewarded somewhat decently. In naval? You better hope you got at least 2 modifications for your current ship. Another thing that just gets boring is how the matches play. You spawn in, see the enemy, and shoot until you die and repeat while PT boats get most of the game-winning cap points. Naval (in my opinion) desperately needs new game-modes. Maybe ones based off of real life operations and locations. Imagine a battle of Narvik game-mode/map or something like that. Another idea for new game-modes would be maybe a more strategical historically-based operation where one team needs to attack the other team defending something (like a troop convoy or whatever) and the attackers get limited respawns/time until they complete a phase or objective and then they get more until either they use all of the respawns or run out of time and lose or accomplish the goal of the operation. How you'd balance it is up to the people actually paid to do that to figure out. I'm just speculating on new, more fun and interesting game-modes even seen in other games years ago that isn't just Team Death Match but with cap circles.
As one of those few actual humans who play naval, I hate ground and air just isn't fun once missiles get involved. I wish more people played naval, but in terms of general interests naval stuff is a small niche that gets much less attention than tanks or fast jets. But, this is the tiny obscure niche we live in, and I'm happy Gaijin keeps working on naval, however slowly, for the 15 or 20 people who play it worldwide.
I for one play ground RB and to me, naval seems completely dull. It looks like it's just a slug fest, everyone can see everyone from the start, it's just selecting an enemy and clicking them until they die and moving on to the next one. Maybe it's not like this, but even if I wanted to get into it, I can't because reserve coastal is just bots and it's not fun to play that.
Napal We appreciate you and the work you put into these videos. shows how much you care about the game and the player base. as for the video ideas, you should try revisiting ground RB upto or below BR 7.7 there is plenty you can go through and there have been many interesting tanks added and BR changes that have happened in this past year. I'd like to support what this gentleman says. Us Naval Players NEED (yes - caps) your Content. I find it valuable. I think you have a great deal to Teach Napalmratte. So many matches my tactics and choices are poor and I get nowhere when I should be getting somewhere. May I suggest that approach. Your wealth of knowledge and experience is worth much - and (if I may) I'd like to say we need you to show us.
Slightly disagree about "too open maps". The maps should be more open, but the maps should be much larger and the spawns much further apart. That's much more representative of actual naval engagements.
Personally I'm still having fun with ground forces but in general I think the biggest issue with the game is the lack of new gamemodes. How about a fleet defense gamemode for planes and ships?

@Napalmratte How about a video documenting how castrated US destroyers got, especially in Arcade? That's in connection with our prior remarks on this subject. I'm still having a hard time playing them lately and I just got tonight 95,000 SLs with a 300% booster and my premium Moffett (and with premium time). Moffett and other US destroyers have become assists queens for me. I have a hard time getting more than 3 kills. It's not just the nerfed shells, but nerfed ship and paper armor these days, but borked aiming system that is misleading and working against me (that's in Arcade with the Arcade aiming). I have noticed that they have quietly changed how the aiming works and now it's very easy to overshoot or undershoot. The leading circle is just wrong so many times, it's frustrating. Even if I'm stationary and the enemy is stationary, many times the shells just don't fall where I am aiming. I just find that so many nerfs at the same time cannot be an accident. It would be interesting, if you could investigate it further (in arcade). I have more than 800 matches with my Moffett and have more than 12/1 k/d, so maybe they just nerf units that a player plays a lot? Also, it would be interesting seeing how many uptiers you get. I'm just living in this uptier h3ll that just sucks out all the fun and I tend to have tons of these circle of death matches that are useless to me with US destroyers having just over 9 km torpedo range. These circle of death matches are guaranteed 0.7-1.0 uptiers, so I got to a point where I just started leaving them at the start. When I finally get a match where I'm just 0.3 uptiered and do well (top 2, even when lost), my next match tends to be going back to a 0.7-1.0 uptier. This is just dumb and defeats the purpose of playing this game. The funny thing is playing 6.0 US cruisers in a small uptier or being top BR with AP shells gives me 6-15 kills even without dying. The volume of fire is more forgiving there and the shells work much better. I still get tons of 1.0 uptiers at this BR. When I see 7.0 match, I simply leave as well. Imagine going with a stock 6.0 cruiser with just HE shell against Sharnhorsts lmao. Today I just left a match like this, even though I had a 300% RP booster running. The last thing is getting more aggravation that this stupid game gives my anyway day after day. Imagine you are in a full uptier match where there are 6-7 players on each team (rest bots) and 4 of the enemies are 7.0... and it's a circle of death. Thanks, but no thanks.
i bought the frank knox and the moffett, with the sole purpose of grinding SL as Napalm suggested. moffet get sucked up to 6.0 often, but overall that was the best investment i had in the last discounts. didn't even have anything i want from the tech tree, in fact i found myself wasting the RP because i didn't bothered buying the ships i unlocked 😅
You could play the HMS Tiger. It’s really fun, requires a lot of maneuvering to not get hit, and your biggest problem is whether you are going to do 10k, 15k, or 20k damage each match.
I'd love to see a Naval RB angling guide. It's a skill that is now widely known yet, and i'd love some help on it, as i'm sure a lot of other naval players will appreciate too !
I really appreciate your content since you are the only WT naval youtuber I watch , appart from Dollarplays who only sumtimes plays naval. If you are stuck regarding content since it seems you are kind of stuck in this stale area rn I would recommend making videos of other naval games like war on the sea or uboat. Also just want to mention again that your guides and reviews are the best. And my no.1 place to find info on the state of a ship/naval mode in general.

Something you could do, even though it is associated with aircraft, is a guide to how aircraft radar works. I'm struggling using it, something that becomes an increasing problem the higher BR you play, and I have trouble finding good guides.
You're a pro level player but for content I'd love to see videos of the basics as to which ships to prioritize shooting and how to identify other ships easily. I been watching for a long time and love the content but I'd also love some more basic tips. I've been playing WT for 2 years and love naval battles...teach me how to not suck quite so much.
I'm playing naval almost exclusively since beginning (since my aim with controller is to slow for the other modes and my eyesight is too messed up to see every pixel on TV) and doing good so far. After all the changes, fixes and introductions of new models, I kinda feel the same. It's just rinse and repeat over and over again. Right now I finally climbed my way up in the British tree and I'm spading the Hood. But after that it's the same problem again. Nothing keeps you really motivated. Naval EC could need some more attention and love, since that's where those large ships were designed for. And every game is totally different. A naval assault mode would also be a nice addition. Maybe with the submarines there is something in the pipeline which also includes a new game mode. But something has to be done. Even with all it's flaws it's the most entertaining ship battle "simulator" and it hurts to see it just catching more and more dust and nobody is really long time motivated or even avoids this mode on purpose. I hope Gaijin are getting their stuff together somehow and one day we will have the same population of players like in the other modes.

For instance, the USS Arizona & Texas got worse in armament and protecting after the last major update. Now damaging f.i. the SMS Kaiser or Marat is almost impossible. Something has changed, and I fear that it's getting worse.
I am currently playing WT naval with Japan at 5.7 to 6.0 and the mikuma is the only ship that even domewhat works. Where is the Atago? where are the Myoko's sisterships?
Bro have you tried HMS Orion in Dev server? I mean, if no one plays it now, there won't be reports of it for the devs and they won't fix it if it has bugs or improve it for the upcoming update.
navel needs to be reworked, the tech tree needs to be similar to world of warships tech tree, ships needs to spawn farther away from each other, and maybe a limited range for certain calibers to help being bombarded by shells as soon as the game begins

Yeah naval is absolutely broken on conceptual level and it is semi-abandoned. Lower tiers are filled with bots, particularly knox / moffet / helena spam, upper tiers are dead. The games does not find a way to make ships of different tonnages useful in the same battle which leads to questions of how do they want to implement submarines and aircraft carriers to the game, when even cruisers and battleships do not mesh together well? Still fun though, the only mode I do not suck at. HMS Norfolk is probably the worst of County-class cruisers, simply because the other ones are better . Even still an unarmored heavy cruiser is poorly suited to anything else than sitting at spawn and sniping from like 13 km away. Cookie clicker gameplay.
I have had it with naval- My Nevada got a one shot from a Moffit AI bot - A single 5 inch shell defeats over 400mm of armour what a joke. The Hood should withstand guns when angled even the Bismarck., here 1 shoted all the time by everything. I like your naval work it is very informative - but naval sucks and very change makes it worse, RP and SL not worth the long games and waiting time.
I've said this before but i lose all interest in Naval at 5.3 because of everything above it. After grinding out 3 Countries Naval/coastal trees I just have no desire to play another battleship.. At all, and until they start implementing things the player base actually wants and not just one off "I Wish I had BB's" then its never going to get better. It also does not help that the money currently comes from Air and Ground and that's where they focus their attention not realizing the money would come tenfold from Naval if they just cared a little bit.
i have noticed around the rank 6 mark a lot of the battles are only being half filled, i do feel that gajin might be better shrinking down the maps as even maps like the one your on at the moment for high br no one can really spawn at the lower point as everyone has cruisers and battleships
I enjoy naval very much in its current stage. But I'm going through my third bluewater tree and still got a ton of ships to research. You being a youtuber with everything unlocked creates an unique problems that the vast majority of people simply don't have. I think where the mode struggles the most is in Gaijin refusing to add new mechanics. Over the last several months, the only thing we've got is the permanent flooding. Meanwhile things like counter-flooding, surface-search radars, ammo types and others are still missing from the game. But overall I find it highly enjoyable.
I always check daily to see if you have posted because I like your content a lot. There are many Japanese and German ships blue water and coastal that I couldn't find a gameplay in your channel and even no other channels in RUclips. Maybe check that ❤
Ever since i am rank 5-6 in 3-4 major trees, i have become bored of doing the same thing every day. Only enjoyable thing is EC but then it's only on weekends so its SSDD on the weekdays.

May be you could do an updated video for Naval Enduring Confrontation? With tips for what each nation could go for, tactics and so on. Otherwise you are correct, I have seen a lot of bots in top BR battles, sometimes we are 6-8 players in the whole match and the rest are bots. That November sale honeymoon we had is over.
I think gijin needs to rework naval... And focus on modern ships, like some of the missile boats they have added, there is huge potential for modern warships and even modern coastal can compleat against modern blue water with Exocets ect
@@slimrummy4616 Well to each their own. But maybe you'll agree with this; They need to rework naval so that it *actually works* with the ships we currently have. After that, maybe we can think about expanding to other stuff like modern ships. Many of the required reworks would actually have no *direct* relation to modern stuff(i.e. maps and missions), cause many of the issues are very fundamental. So we should focus on fixing the fundamental issues first, and then add radicallty new stuff later. If we try to do all of that together, not only would it be more difficult, but would also bring more potential for problems.

@@slimrummy4616 Well the details always matter, especially with WT. They *could* do a lot with it, but they could also ruin it completely or not improve anything fundamentally. Watching ground and air have very rough rides(it's still far from perfect) going into modern vehicles without much in the way of fundamental improvements, doesn't really give me hope about modern naval, as naval is already a mess to begin with. Modern ships won't add another dimension to the battle unless the maps and missions are reworked as well. And at that point, you can add another dimension to the battle by just reworking the maps and missions even with only WW1~2 ships. If you want a proper modern warships game, you should wait for Sea Power. It's a strategy game, but that's actually much more fitting for a realistic modern naval combat game than an MMO like WT. And the devs are actually passionate about their own game, which really makes all the difference.

Agreed. The Introduction of thermals killed ground RB for me and the same goes for missiles in AIR RB.

Yeah, naval battles are pretty dead now. But you can still have some fun in EC at least. Even renown is somewhat useful there.
I was going to buy some premium Cruisers but the last patch moved the battleships too high for them to be useful in the BB grind.
yeah the only prem cruiser useful is the Des Moines ... and that sucks at 6.3 becasue everything shoots at it ...

Can you review the Italy Destroyer with a lot of 37mm AA on like 3.7 or 4.0 br, it looks fun to play.
Impetuoso? Its quite good. Very good AA, american fast firing 5 inch main guns and a radar.

HMS Norfolk is probably the worst of County-class cruisers, simply because the other ones are better . Even still an unarmored heavy cruiser is poorly suited to anything else than sitting at spawn and sniping from like 13 km away. Cookie clicker gameplay.

I have had it with naval- My Nevada got a one shot from a Moffit AI bot - A single 5 inch shell defeats over 400mm of armour what a joke. The Hood should withstand guns when angled even the Bismarck., here 1 shoted all the time by everything.
I like your naval work it is very informative - but naval sucks and very change makes it worse, RP and SL not worth the long games and waiting time.
I've said this before but i lose all interest in Naval at 5.3 because of everything above it. After grinding out 3 Countries Naval/coastal trees I just have no desire to play another battleship.. At all, and until they start implementing things the player base actually wants and not just one off "I Wish I had BB's" then its never going to get better. It also does not help that the money currently comes from Air and Ground and that's where they focus their attention not realizing the money would come tenfold from Naval if they just cared a little bit.
i have noticed around the rank 6 mark a lot of the battles are only being half filled, i do feel that gajin might be better shrinking down the maps as even maps like the one your on at the moment for high br no one can really spawn at the lower point as everyone has cruisers and battleships

I got 6.3 BR Des Moines on sale before they removed the pack. 100% of the matches so far were uptiers to 7.0 in Arcade. Suck it, gajoobles.
I enjoy naval very much in its current stage. But I'm going through my third bluewater tree and still got a ton of ships to research. You being a youtuber with everything unlocked creates an unique problems that the vast majority of people simply don't have.
I think where the mode struggles the most is in Gaijin refusing to add new mechanics. Over the last several months, the only thing we've got is the permanent flooding. Meanwhile things like counter-flooding, surface-search radars, ammo types and others are still missing from the game.
But overall I find it highly enjoyable.
I always check daily to see if you have posted because I like your content a lot. There are many Japanese and German ships blue water and coastal that I couldn't find a gameplay in your channel and even no other channels in RUclips. Maybe check that ❤
Why not check out Cmdr Tyrael? He makes a lot of coastal videos as well as bluewater.

Ever since i am rank 5-6 in 3-4 major trees, i have become bored of doing the same thing every day. Only enjoyable thing is EC but then it's only on weekends so its SSDD on the weekdays.

Otherwise you are correct, I have seen a lot of bots in top BR battles, sometimes we are 6-8 players in the whole match and the rest are bots. That November sale honeymoon we had is over.
I think gijin needs to rework naval... And focus on modern ships, like some of the missile boats they have added, there is huge potential for modern warships and even modern coastal can compleat against modern blue water with Exocets ect

But maybe you'll agree with this; They need to rework naval so that it *actually works* with the ships we currently have. After that, maybe we can think about expanding to other stuff like modern ships. Many of the required reworks would actually have no *direct* relation to modern stuff(i.e. maps and missions), cause many of the issues are very fundamental. So we should focus on fixing the fundamental issues first, and then add radicallty new stuff later. If we try to do all of that together, not only would it be more difficult, but would also bring more potential for problems.

I just think they could do alot with it and bring in more people if they went in a modern warships direction 'not saying get ride of what we have' idc about details no other game has modern naval combat and I think it would add another dimension to the battle.... @@slimrummy4616 Well the details always matter, especially with WT. They *could* do a lot with it, but they could also ruin it completely or not improve anything fundamentally. Watching ground and air have very rough rides(it's still far from perfect) going into modern vehicles without much in the way of fundamental improvements, doesn't really give me hope about modern naval, as naval is already a mess to begin with. Modern ships won't add another dimension to the battle unless the maps and missions are reworked as well. And at that point, you can add another dimension to the battle by just reworking the maps and missions even with only WW1~2 ships.
If you want a proper modern warships game, you should wait for Sea Power. It's a strategy game, but that's actually much more fitting for a realistic modern naval combat game than an MMO like WT. And the devs are actually passionate about their own game, which really makes all the difference.
