This video was made for an online class on running contacts. The class was 3 months long, so everything on this video happened within a 3 month time period. Running contacts require a lot of continual practice to remain consistent though. The class I took was an online class by Silvia Trkman: www.lolabuland.com/online-classes/running-contacts/
I used a variety of different mats for this. Now I use a mat specifically for this: www.nonsliprcmats.com I am not on my RUclips very often, so I’m not always very responsive with these comments. I am more active on Instagram: KatherineK9Trainer and TikTok: KatieMcGuireK9Trainer
Thanks for video! Just started Training Sam my 11yo lurcher (unfortunately only just got wheelchair suitable for agility, but he's still fit and healthy!). I'll be doing 2on 2off with him as not exactly got years to train complex distance handling, so that split second stop will give me time to catch up with him, if we can power through training and start competing before his body starts to match his age lol! My poodle Ozzie is only 4/5 though, so he and any future dogs will have plenty of time to learn distance handling so we don't have too loose time and momentum on contacts and this video will be a massive help in training Oz, once Old man Sam has basics down! I will also be borrowing mat idea for Sam's 2/2 training as have no stairs or boards to use at home, but a mat means I can start his 2/2 training today!
Considering that I am YEARS lat in responding to this comment, how is training going with Ozzie? I am not on my RUclips very often, so I’m not always very responsive with these comments. I am more active on Instagram: KatherineK9Trainer and TikTok: KatieMcGuireK9Trainer
You could use smaller and smaller mats, but in general, it’s not necessary. Once they get used to the correct striding on the dogwalk they usually don’t have a problem once the mat is removed ☺️ I am not on my RUclips very often, so I’m not always very responsive with these comments. 🤩🤩
Thanks for the video! I have one question - how did you start fading the mat?

What word do you give to your dog when he walk on the carpet ?
Do you mean the mat? The cue I used was “hit it”
