    I have driven all of these many years ago in my Vauxhall Frontera, which had a 4" lift!!!!

    felt bad for poor simon with his clutch bearing failing! Mine did the same thing a few months back, but it doing it on a 4x4 track is a unique challenge

    I took a nearly new Panda 4x4 up somewhere in the dales but cant remember where. Was a bit hairy as it wasnt modified at all, totally standard. Bit nerve racking but got through in the end after nearly tipping it over ! Did remarkably, astonishing grip even when the terrain got pretty nasty. I might get another, bit cheaper than running a Subaru !

    Ume i would sudgest 20 psi in front and 14psi in rear might seem low but you have wider tyres also so thr pressures actualy need lowing for tarmack use there will be half asmuch hammer on whole drivetrain and the car and the you will get a lot more out of it ie more extreem highways if there is any

    Good effort gents. Although turning up with a faulty clutch was just asking for trouble. Should of been better.

    Ya your pressures are too high lower them and the 4 wheel drive will be on the Rd less punctures also tyres need to flex yours any there ridged making motors bounce

    I was thinking about the diesel engine for off-road , I've got a panda 4x4 1.3l multijet from 2006 and I want to take it to harsher terrains bit I think I'll need a lift and a winch first

    • @kyllianholder

      Do you have any tips on what to modify perhaps

    • @allthingsandyb

      Sadly the Multijet is the worst engine option for off-road use.

    Regarding the engine's capability off-road, what do you think about the 0.9 TwinAir?

    • @allthingsandyb
      @allthingsandyb Год назад

      The twin-air is the engine we would recommend out of the options in the newer models (Mk4). It has better torque and power delivery for off-road use. The MPG isn't great but tarmac usage is acceptable. They do suffer from clutch problems though and it can get expensive. Don't even bother with the Diesel if you plan to go off-road.

  • @MOTORSPORT1979
    @MOTORSPORT1979 3 года назад +1

    Nice! Can I have any info about the light grey one with the tire on the top? That Panda is definitely modded well, with a lift kit (how much cm?) and others stuffs. Engine it's a diesel or petrol?

    So every model progression got worse for off-road?

    • @UKPanda4x4
      @UKPanda4x4  2 месяца назад +1

      It's a bit more subtle than that but in essence, yes. Each new model was heavier than the last and more aimed at economy/road handling

  • @RockbasherV8

    I think your tyre pressures are too high lower them to 20 psi your getting too much bounce

    Hi where do you get the mods and bits for your cars? I’m thinking of taking one of these overlanding in Africa. I’m not on Facebook so can’t see your group.

    • @UKPanda4x4
      @UKPanda4x4  2 года назад +2

      There isn't much aftermarket support for these cars. Tyres are more readily available in Italy, lift spacers can be found on eBay but a lot of our 'mods' come from the creativity of the owners.

    great video. didnt think the diesel panda was not perfect for climbing as anyone say diesel have more torque, but nobody think about turbocharged ones. for simon panda... how many km he got with the cluch till he broke? (maybe it didnt broke but got finished by mileages he did :D

    • @UKPanda4x4
      @UKPanda4x4  3 года назад +3

      Yes, small, turbocharged diesels do not have the torque at low engine speeds that people think they do. I think this is a misconception left over from when diesel engines used to be big, heavy and naturally aspirated. Simons car has had a hard life even before he bought it, it was just bad luck that the thrust bearing failed halfway through his weekend away!

    • @gavriil3129
      @gavriil3129 Год назад

      I confirm the above comment! I had a terrible experience with a polo turbo diesel, (much worse in low torque in comparison to diesel panda), that make me think that it is a myth at least at small turbos!

    • @markburton8303
      @markburton8303 6 месяцев назад

      @@gavriil3129 turbo diesels are pretty poor without the turbo spinning. However, something like the 1.7 n/a Isuzu diesel engine from a Vauxhall Corsa would be ideal in this situation giving loads of torque from tickover.

  • @guyatkinson7442
    @guyatkinson7442 Год назад

    Not so much a comment but a question, earlier in the video you were commenting on the 1200cc petrol being better than the diesel my question is how does the twin air compare with the others?

    • @UKPanda4x4
      @UKPanda4x4  Год назад

      Mixed reports but on the whole, positive. They seem to chug at low revs better than the diesels despite still being turbocharged. Owners rave about the TwinAir for enthusiastic road driving. Fuel economy and reliability seems to be the only downsides with them.

  • @srdjanmatic7099
    @srdjanmatic7099 Год назад +1

    Really about 1.2 vs 1.3 jtd in mk3 argument? Most of which we got here are mk3 JTD engines precisely for low end torque, easier engine to push power to around 100hp and 2.5x more torque than 1.2 in half the rpm. Try one that is on stage 1 at least, they got more 'umpf' in low rpm and is easier to crawl your way out of most situations (:
