What Jim played on Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number", was done in one take! The fact that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, "known for never settling for anything less than perfection" were pleased, speaks volumes... Jim was truly amazing. Definitely looking forward to reading this book.

Joel Selvin's book is a must read as he gives the behind the music stories of many of those sessions, but also showing the progression of Jim's mental illness.

@@drwardbond Absolutely. His discernment of the common ground between Jim Gordon's intuitive approach to arranging his drum parts and the mental processes that led to his pathology is truly insightful in this volume. I anticipate that Selvin's book will receive accolades from more sectors than the pop music community for this reason alone.

@@deanhoffman216 Joel Selvin did an honorable thing for highlighting Jim's achievements in music despite his tragic action. The man was talented beyond anyone has ever seen or heard and no one has matched him since.
