the song was written 400 years ago in Yemen.

Tell me, pure and perfect one
Tell me so that we may rejoice here in Taima
O wise princess, tell me where do you make your home?
(The Dove) Saadiah, there is a high chamber reserved for me in the palace
But though I could robe myself in beauty, my heart is full of lamentation
It soared from the ark, the dove within me
It sings forever, it flies free
I call to thee, my torch in darkness, thou art born
Ornaments of gold shine so bright
You are the way, you are the light
I dwell in this my shelter and thy birth do I foresee

הנוסח התימני הוא ככל הנראה הצורה הקרובה ביותר לדרך שבה דיברו עברית לפני הגלות.
    סַפְּרִי תַמָּה תְמִימָה סַפְּרִי נָגִיל בְּתֵימָא
    בַּת מְלָכִים הַחֲכָמָה אָן מְקוֹמֵךְ סַפְּרִי לִי

@37Darkshadow My native language is Hebrew. I can assure you that they sing in Hebrew (apart from one verse in English), I understand it all. I agree that the tone sounds a bit like Arabic's, but that's because it's archaic Hebrew pronunciation, which is close to nowadays' Arabic pronunciation.) ;)

"Sapari", or "Sapri" in modern Hebrew, means "tell (me)". It's imperative, addressed a female.

@shlomir82 לא. זו עברית בהיגוי תימני, זה כן. תימנית זה בטח שלא - תימנית זה ניב של ערבית. השיר כאן הוא לחלוטין בעברית, עם ההיגוי התימני, שהוא הקרוב למקור - לעברית הארכאית.

Song written by Rabi Saadyo ben (son of) Amram, beginning of 17th. century, Yemen.
Even modern Hebrew speakers and readers will struggle and probably won't understand it. so don't worry :). Basically the song celebrate the existence of the soul/spirit within our human body and remind us to stay away from the evil ways that human can choose... First part -Hebrew with English letters then the interpretation...lack of accurate ancient Yemenite Hebrew sound representation in English is obvious...

  • @emfan457
    @emfan457 11 лет назад +1

This is the only correct explanation I've seen on here. for English speakers: this is Hebrew with a Yemenite pronunciation, which, by the way, is closer to the original pronunciation of ancient Hebrew. It is not Arabic or Aramaic. Straight up Hebrew.

    You're wrong. It's Hebrew.
מתי ישראלים יבינו שיש שפה תימנית שהיא בעצם ניב של ערבית, ויש עברית בנוסח תימני - שזו ההגיה המדויקת והארכאית של עברית. מתי?
מדובר פה בעברית, ידידי. עברית בנוסח תימני, אבל עברית כשרה למהדרין.

@MonthuRa , i know this thing, but c'mon ,why they need to put a burning cross, and sometimes with snakes, are they against christianity?because their symbol is a burning cross, and i consider it satanic enough. Why a cross?why not something else,i like their genre of music, but i'm christian and i don't like to see burning cross, because the cross for me is a saint symbol. And i think that doesn't matter if the cross is or not before christianity, the symbol of the cross nowadays is important not then.

No. It's Hebrew, period. Before claiming otherwise, I'd suggest you to check the lyrics.
את טועה ומטעה. זה שאת לא מבינה את ההטעמה השונה לא אומר שזו לא עברית. בדקי את המילים לשיר ותיווכחי שהן עבריות לחלוטין, רק נהגות בנוסח תימני שהוא קרוב יותר למבטא העברי המקראי.
    די כבר לבורות.
