Trevor Noah is such a great interviewer. Great balance and you can tell he’s done his research. I’ve also never seen Comedy Central do anything acknowledging THIS PART of Black culture and it’s nice.
I'm 43 and I refuse to listen to today's r&b. It's nothing like what I grew up listening to. These people had mad talent. No auto-tuning. They had a natural gift. It brought back so many memories. I loved the battle and love this interview.
@@missfancy8365 We are not talking about what is not on the radio, and by extension is not broadly popular, although it may very well be good R&B. We are talking about what is broadly popular with the youth of the day in each generation. That is the true "apples to apples" comparison we are making. The "so-called" songwriting in R&B today is very poor. And it is a reflection of the lack of musical capacity, talent and the actual craft of songwriting that both Babyface and Teddy have mastered over the years. Please don't say people who use auto-tune are just as great a singer as all those great singers in the 90s/80s/70s who did not use it! Look at the records they made back then?! Amazing!. Also please don't say rapping is the same as singing, or that sampling is the same as actually playing as instrument, and developing great musicianship with others who can play too! Playing a musical instrument very well is hard! Drake and all these so-called R&B artists of 2020 have nothing on Babyface/Teddy, or even the great musician/producers from the generation before them (e.g. Narada Michael Walden, Nile Rodgers, Quincy Jones, James Anthony Carmichael, Prince (RIP), etc). Not even close! Lastly, a big thank you to Babyface and Teddy. Your music transcends generations, and will outlive all of us, as it continues to radiate the love and joy that we all connect with, as we listen and enjoy! Cheers, Sam.
Awww. I smiled the entire interview because of all that brotherly love. Both Babyface and Teddy gave LA Reid his props, too. When Babyface said, "We all are here today because of each other," Trevor KNEW that was the high note (pun intended) to leave on. Such a sweet sentiment. I'm glad I was able to attend the party live. Great interview, Trevor!
I love their chemistry and how chill they are. They kinda play off each other. I hope we can get more times like this eventually. I actually now want to see it for myself

This interview left me weeping... Thanks guys. We need this more than ever :) ... And can I also add that Babyface at the age of 62 and Teddy at a very seasoned 52 still look HAWT!
WOW, does it talk to your heart!!! What an amazing statement... I absolutely adore both of these guys, their work is the epitome of music being the universal language!!! ❤️💯❤️🙌😍
Mr. Noah, You are an amazing host and interviewer. Your ability to ask the right questions and bring humor while sticking to the facts is refreshing. What was awesome about this was your about to step back and allow your guests to speak. You did not interject and try to stir the conversation; instead you allowed it to flow naturally. Well done!
What a “feel good” interview! Sooo refreshing to watch iconic gentle giants move with such grace and respect and humility! Makes me proud that they represent my era..... 🥰 🥰 🥰
Absolutely loved the battle it was legendary they created songs that will last forever through many many generations. Love u Babyface and Teddy Riley. My sister and I had a wonderful time dancing, singing and reminiscing that night. Thank you❤
Why use feminine labels on men... Men are handsome ...handsome reffers to males beautiful reffers to females...ever heard of a handsome lady... Handsome men is masculine
This was one of the most epic experiences I've ever seen in my life! Seeing these two kings share their catalogue and appreciate each other's music was extremely inspiring!
Trevor thanks for doing this. This is the interview I wanted to see with these two icons. Their gratitude like you said and mutual respect and love for their fans really shows. They honestly were a light for me and so many during this dark time. I was reminded of great music and we'll never forget how that Verzuz battle made us feel.
These guys set the bar so high and I'm honoured to have grown up in the same arra they did and I still cherish the music they produced over the years. Their music bring so many good memories. There's lot of crap music these days. When I think of the 90s, I think of Babyface. His music dominated the charts. He worked as a man who is possesed. Teddy Riley changed the game.
Trevor Noah really from the bottom of my heart thank you !! Beautiful interview beautiful guests ! This is legendary ♥️ Kenneth Brian Edmonds•DescriptionEdward Theodore Riley ! Asante from Kenya 🇰🇪 with love ❤️

The 'battle' was so, so good. I love the way Trevor just let Teddy and Face love on each other without butting in. Trevor is the best!
I was thinking the same thing. He's so classy and draws out the best in people.
ME TOO! That was everything
I was thinking the exact same thing! He really is one of the top 5 interviewers ever!!

Today's R&B that's not on the radio is really good.
SiR, DVSN, Alina Baraz, Ro James, Luke James, and H.E.R. are smooth.
Some of these youngins got it, don't miss out.
Ari Lennox album Shea butter Baby is a good album.
Actually Chris brown minus the drama put back in time would've been great under either producer here.

Thanks for the extended interview. It was so nice just hearing these guys talk and Trevor wisely let them be as they did.

Talented & humble legends right there
Babyface is so dreamy.... 62 and simply the essence of dapper✨✨✨. The concert was so much fun. They are both phenomenal producers.

Babyface doing MJ is just too spot on and hilarious!
These guys r so humble and gracious. Much love.
LA & Babyface vs Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis would be amazing too, especially since Babyface didn't scratch the surface of his hits in the first battle.
